Helping Hands Some ideas on how to cook with your kids. Start Young. The earlier in life you can get the feel of the kitchen, the easier it is to become a good cook. Children are a little clumsy at first but they will catch on quickly. The ideal work surface is waist high. For children, that are about 75 centimetres, most benches are around 90 centimetres, so you will want to have a sturdy stool or work at a lower table. Keep it simple, work with a minimum of ingredients and dont give too many tasks at once. Try not to give too many warnings as this can make kids a little timid. Children will be very proud of sharing the food that they have prepared and its a great time to entice fussy eaters to try a new food that they have helped prepare.
