Coverstitch A Decorative Towel
Add a nice touch to any bathroom or give a thoughtful house-warming gift. This coverstitched, decorative towel is easy to make and can be made simply with a coverstitch and minimal supplies.

Baby Lock Cover Stitch Machine 1 large bath towel (purchase bath towel and measure across the bottom) Large bouillon fringed trim (enough to go across the towel + 1) Coordinating ribbon 5 wide, enough to go across the towel = 1. If you cant find ribbon, a nice silky fabric from the bridal dept. will work yd. Lace Ribbon Beads 3 spools of thread to match towel 1 spools of thread to match lace Quilt basting spray

Instructions:

1. Wash towel to remove the sizing. 2. Cut the bottom of the towel off just at the lower edge of the band on the end where the label is attached. 3. Spray the decorative fabric or ribbon on the back with the spray. Position one edge of the decorative band to the edge of the towel just above the band on the towel. Smooth with hand to get out all the wrinkles. 4. Thread the Baby Lock Cover Stitch machine with machine thread that matches the lace. Set up machine for a chain stitch using the needle 1 position stitch length 2.5. 5. Use the spool of thread that matches the lace in the needle and the thread that matches the towel in the looper. 6. Stitch the lace across the top of the band covering the raw edge. 7. Fold under the raw edges on the sides. 8. Turn the lace under the band between the wrong side of the band and the towel. 9. Change the Baby Lock Cover Stitch machine to the cover stitch using needle position 1 and 3, with a stitch length 3. 10. Apply the fringe turning under on the back of the towel to the lower part of the band covering the raw edge. Stitch from one end to the other. 11. Embellish with ribbons and beads.
