Karlsbad / Munich Experienced owners of satellite navigation systems will know that the free map updates which many manufacturers market as special content are in fact no longer special at all. Automobile navigation pioneer Becker, part of the Harman Becker Automotive Systems GmbH brand family, is exploiting this fact and is launching Becker MyXtras, a very special online store that offers some truly exclusive tools. The broad range of download options means that users can choose from a wide spectrum of software that allows even entry-level devices to be transformed into top-class equipment.
The step-by-step way to configure your own top model In technical terms, Becker MyXtras offers users a full range of products, ranging from 24-month subscriptions for map updates for the whole of Europe and map update packages for Eastern Europe or North America for example, to map upgrades for individual countries. These maps enable all Becker PND owners to bring the map data installed on their devices right up to date or to compile their own customised pool of maps. This means that the multitude of download options available at the online store can be used to transform even a small PND into a premium class device without having to purchase a new highclass model.
Exactly what I need! But of course this doesnt just apply to the maps! In future, Becker MyXtras users will also be able to create their own personal journey planner.
This is where the new online store really comes into its own: it offers a genuine alternative to the expensive packages that include an extensive range of functions, only half of which users actually need. Instead, users can choose precisely the function or content they want to buy - whether map material or premium content such as 3D city views and places of interest as well as TMC Pro for Germany, Italy, France and Scandinavia. Always on the safe side with Becker Content Manager 2.0 No matter how often they are checked and tested, even high-tech devices sometimes fail to work as smoothly as the proverbial Swiss clock. If it should ever happen that your screen goes dark, all content is lost and the navigation system is blank, dont panic! If the user backs up using the Content Manager, as prompted before any new software and content is installed, the latest navigation system content is effectively protected and can be restored in the case of problems. This means that the current device status is buffered on the PC using the Content Manager and the user can simply reload his original settings and downloads onto his navigation system. The necessary software is supplied on DVD with current commercially-available devices and simply needs to be installed on the PC. Existing owners can simply download Becker Content Manager 2.0 from the Becker website, www.mybecker.com. During the extremely easy, self-explanatory installation, the user simply needs to register and, once he has logged in, the software screen will give him immediate access to all the content on Becker MyXtras as soon as he connects his navigation system to the PC and goes online. The content is available for the Becker Traffic Assist Z 099, Z 103, Z 100, Z 201, Z 203, Z 204 and for the Z 205 (limited content).
