Product information

Research In Motion (RIM) has deemphasized support for BlackBerry Instant Messaging for Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 for Windows Messenger users. RIM does not plan to release new versions of the BlackBerry Instant Messaging Connector and collaboration client for Windows Messenger. BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP5 and later maintenance releases will continue to include the connector that is compatible with the last release of the device client only (version 1.1.0.28). The connector will not be included in BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 or later. To save instant messaging conversations as.txt files in the internal memory of their BlackBerry devices or on an external memory device, users must be running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.2 or later on their BlackBerry devices. To use the spell-check feature of the collaboration client, users must be running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.3 or later on their BlackBerry devices. To use the switch application menu item, users must be running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.2 or later on their BlackBerry devices. To add contact pictures to contacts, users must be running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.2 or later on their BlackBerry devices.

Known issues

BlackBerry Client for use with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 version 2.1.18 SDR 304781 SDR 304881 SDR 304713 SDR 303950 SDR 302669 SDR 281795 If a user deletes a blocked contact, the blocked contact might remain in the contact list. Workaround Set up Kerberos authentication or force forms-based authentication. SDR 251895 SDR 186430 Personal notes are not displayed in the BlackBerry Client for use with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 if they contain special characters (for example, , , or $ ).
