Technology There are many different reasons for perfect sound. But only one manufacturer.
Angle (horizontal/vertical)
This describes the range within which the picture displayed on an LCD monitor can be easily identified. The values indicated are for the viewing angle from the side (horizontal) and a vertical (from above/from below) position (e.g. horizontal + 45 degrees/ 45 degrees).

Centre-Out

Centre channel generated from the two front channels. It requires an additional external amplifier and a speaker in the centre of the dashboard.
CFG stands for Carbon FibreGlass Cone the optimal cone material for woofers. CFG combines extreme stability and minimum weight with particularly pleasing resonance characteristics. CFG cones deliver practically perfect frequency response even without a crossover.

Combination antenna

Combination of different types of antennas in one enclosure/rod. There are duplex (e. g. radio/GSM) and triplex antennas (e. g. radio/GSM/GPS). This means that only one antenna is required on your car to ensure optimal reception for different applications.

Aux naming

External sources, such as an MD-Walkman, can be given any user-defined name (max. of 16 characters). This name will then appear in the display of the car radio when the corresponding source is selected.

Component system

2- or 3-way system, in which the chassis (tweeter, woofer, perhaps subwoofer) can be installed separately to optimise the sound/ installation situation.

Bass-Boost

The Bass-Boost control is used to adjust the bass reproduction of the amplifier. The settings normally range from 0 dB to +12 dB or +18 dB and boosts the deep bass sound. Bass-Boost creates a full, rich, powerful bass sound from relatively small subwoofer enclosure volumes.

Pressing one of these keys on the Blaupunkt monitors triggers two different functions: when the on-screen display (OSD) is switched off, the volume will increase (up) or decrease. If the OSD is active, the two keys can be used to navigate within the menu.

Reception range of the automatic DDA directional antenna: the wanted transmitter signal is received, the reflected interference signal is faded out.
In principle, the DDA process mimics the reactions of an extremely quick, automatic directional antenna similar to TV rabbit ears that deliver just snow or perfect reception depending on just a small adjustment. When used in car radios, the DDA process works with two independent antennas and receivers, whose signals are digitised using intermediate frequency analogue-digital converters. The digitised data is then fed to an adaptive algorithm with extremely low settling times. Thus, the two intermediate frequency signals are combined so that the antenna can gain up to 3 dB of antenna power even for weak reception field strengths. In areas with strong reception, the second regular receiver, the so-called RDS background receiver, is then freely available. The switch between DDA operation and RDS background reception is quick and inaudible, controlled by a logic that evaluates the current reception conditions. This guarantees the radio listeners the best possible reception and rapid frequency switching at all times, without annoying station searches.
Equalizers that do the thinking for you! The intelligent Blaupunkt equalizers are equipped with a self-adjusting function to automatically optimise sound reproduction. The new DSA+ equalizer is a complete high-performance 24-bit DSP system. The computer has enough power to handle the 4-channel self-adjustment of 27 graphic equalizer bands (= 108 bands in total). This creates a sound quality that remains unparalleled to date and can also be adjusted to your personal taste. Signal time alignment for the audio signal guarantees a true-to-life, concert-like panorama. Dynamic Noise Covering (DNC) automatically adjusts the volume, the equalizer and music dynamics to the current noise background in the vehicle. And this feature not only regulates the level, it also adjusts the sound to the frequency spectrum of the driving noise. A spectrum analyser, fascinating effect sound options for Club, Stadium, Cathedral, Theatre and Concert as well as sound presets round out the virtually unlimited opportunities to individualize your sound! Parametric bands in DEQ Max/DEQ Max EX: For particularly easy operation and the outstanding adjustment of the complicated acoustic conditions in modern vehicles, the DEQ Max EX equalizer uses five fully parametric bands (adjustable mid frequency, quality and level) with an automatic selfadjusting function (in systems with the DEQ Max, the parametric 5-band equalizer requires manual adjustment). In addition, you can also choose individually from five pre-defined sound curves for different music styles. Automatic equalizer adjustment with the DSA Max and DEQ Max EX: To keep things simple and ensure that the best possible sound is what you get in the end, Blaupunkt has developed an automatic self-adjusting function that measures the problematic frequency response individually in every vehicle. All you have to do is to connect the calibration microphone (comes included with the Bremen MP74 and the Los Angeles MP74) with the ISO connection box and press the AUTO key in the equalizer menu. After just a few seconds, the sound will be noticeably more harmonious, richer in detail with greater differentiation, as the annoying frequency peaks are reliably balanced out. To satisfy personal tastes, all the settings can also be adjusted manually afterwards. Alternatively, the sound-related or voice-optimised sound preset curves can also be selected.

DEQ Max / DEQmaxEx / DSA Max In a dual voice coil, the two lengths of wire wound around the same former can be driven separately. This provides you with greater flexibility in the configuration of your system. In a parallel hook-up (= half the impedance), the amplifier connected is able to deliver double the performance at best. For subwoofers that require a lot of power, each voice coil can be wired to a separate amplifier channel.

To provide for greater stability, the speakers driver magnet is not screwed onto the back of the basket as usual, but rather integrated into the basket. This affords advantages not only for high-power-handling subwoofers, it also increases overall reliability.

IR remote control
A handheld or steering-wheel mounted remote control unit whose signal is transmitted in the invisible infrared range. Products that are mounted on the steering wheel have been certified by the German Technical Inspection Agency (TV).

EXP technology

EXP stands for Extended Pole Piece, i. e. the pole piece of the speaker magnets is extended to allow greater linear excursion for the cone/voice coil while simultaneously reducing distortion.
GPS Global Positioning System

The TwinCeiver, which boasts two DSP-based receivers, underscores Blaupunkts outstanding position in perfect radio reception: crackling and noise due to multi-path reception caused by apartment blocks in cities or mountains in the countryside now virtually belong to the past. More distant stations, which were once well outside of the usual reception range, are now within reach as well: the TwinCeiver continuously evaluates the digitised signals from two antennas and combines them to create a strong, clear signal that is free of interference. This process, which was developed by Blaupunkt engineers, is called DDA (Digital Directional Antenna) and it mimics the reactions of an extremely quick, automatic directional antenna similar to TV rabbit ears that deliver just snow or perfect reception depending on just a small adjustment. If the reception is currently so good that the second antenna is not required, or if only one antenna is connected, the radio can be switched to dynamic station lists.
