The radio cannot be switched on/off using the remote control. Amplifier All Blaupunkt amplifiers can be used. CD changer The following CD changers can be obtained from accessory retailers for connection with this device: CDC A02, CDC A 08, CDC A 072 und IDC A 09. You can also connect the CDC A 071 CD-changer by using an adapter cable (Blaupunkt no.: 889 093). Compact Drive MP3 As an alternative to a CD changer, you can connect a Compact Drive MP3 to access MP3 music tracks. If you connect a Compact Drive MP3, you will first need to use a computer to store the MP3 music tracks on the Microdrive hard disk inside the Compact Drive MP3. Then, when the Compact Drive MP3 is connected to the car radio, you can play the tracks like normal CD music tracks. The Compact Drive MP3 is operated in the same way as a CD changer. Most of the CD changer functions can also be used with the Compact Drive MP3.
THEFT PROTECTION
Theft protection
Removable control panel
As a way of protecting your car radio against theft, the unit is equipped with a removable control panel (flip-release panel). Without this control panel, the car radio is worthless to a thief. Protect your equipment against theft by taking the control panel with you every time you leave your vehicle. Do not leave the control panel in your vehicle not even in a hiding place. The control panel has been designed to be easy to use. Note: Never drop the control panel. Never expose the control panel to direct sunlight or other heat sources. Store the control panel in the supplied case. Avoid making direct skin contact with the control panels contacts. If necessary, clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth soaked in alcohol.
Detaching the control panel
The control panel latch mechanism opens. In addition to the removable control panel, your car radio is equipped with a KeyCard for added security. The KeyCard is required to activate the unit if the device was disconnected from the car radio power supply (e.g. after installing/removing the device or disconnecting the battery during repair work). Once you have reactivated the device after its power supply was cut, you should remove the KeyCard. Without the KeyCard, the car radio is worthless to a thief. Note: Never store the KeyCard in the vehicle. If you are going on a longer journey, take the KeyCard with you. The KeyCard has been designed to be easy to use and carry around. Inserting the KeyCard To insert the KeyCard in the unit,

MP3 MODE
You can also use this car radio for playing CD-Rs and CD-RWs containing MP3 music files. MP3 is a process developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for compressing CD audio data. Compression allows data to be reduced to around 10% of their original size without a noticeable loss in quality (at a bit rate of 128 Kbit/s). If a lower bit rate is used to convert CD audio data to MP3, you can create smaller files but there will be a loss in quality.

Preparing the MP3 CD
The various combinations of CD burners, CD burning software and CD blanks may lead to problems arising with the ability to play certain CDs. If problems occur with your own burned CDs, you should try another brand of CD blank or choose another blank colour. Best results are achieved with CD blanks that provide 74 minutes of playing time. The format of the CD must be ISO 9660 Level 1 or Level 2 or Joliet. Other formats cannot be played reliably. Avoid multi-sessions. If you write more than one session to the CD, only the first session will be detected. You can create a maximum of 127 directories on a CD. Each of these directories can be accessed using this device. Each directory can contain up to 254 tracks and subdirectories, which can also be accessed. A maximum of 8 levels of directories are allowed. 23

Fig. 1 Fig. 2 If you like your files to be in the correct order, you should use burner software that places files in alphanumerical order. If your software does not provide this feature, you can also sort the files manually. To do so, you should place a number (e.g. 001, 002, etc.) in front of each file name the leading zeros must also be included. MP-3 tracks can contain addition information such as the artist, track and album names (ID3 tags). This device can display ID3 tags if they are version 1. Only MP3 files with the.MP3 file extension can be played on this device. Note: To ensure uninterrupted playback, do not attempt to change the file extension to.MP3 of any files other than MP3 files and then attempt to play them! Do not use mixed CDs containing non-MP3 data and MP3 tracks. Do not use mix-mode CDs containing audio tracks and MP3 tracks.

Each track can be named using the PC. The directory name can be displayed in the devices display. Name the directories and tracks using your CD burner software. The softwares operating instructions will provide details on how to do this. Note: When naming directories and tracks you should avoid using special characters. 24

For situation 2, the calibration microphone is between the driver and passenger. For Situation 3, it is in the middle of the vehicle interior (left/right, front/back). Really quiet surroundings are required for the calibration. Any extraneous noise will distort the measured values. Note: During calibration, the temperature inside the vehicle must not exceed 55 C since this could lead to falsified measurements. The sound radiating from the loudspeakers must not be obstructed by any objects. All the loudspeakers must be connected. The microphone must be connected to the unit. To calibrate an equalizer,

In addition to the CD changer, you can also connect another external audio source equipped with a line output. The audio source can, for example, be a portable CD player, MiniDisc player or MP3 player. The AUX input must be activated in the setup menu.
