In contrast to the familiar analogue radio (AM/FM 0.145108 MHz), digital radio is broadcast with its 2 bands (Band III 174240 MHz, L -Band 14521492 MHz) in a higher frequency range. That is why it is necessary to add an antenna or replace the existing AM/FM antenna before it is possible to enjoy uninterrupted digital radio listening pleasure and the reception of extensive data services (news, traffic messages, traffic congestion maps, car park information, stock-market reports, display of artist and song title, etc.). In this department, Blaupunkt offers 5 different antennas to cover the digital radio frequency range. These include single antennas to simply add to your existing system or combination antennas to replace the old antenna. Depending on the model, the combination antennas also offer AM/FM and/or GSM in addition to DAB.
Depending on where the car radio is installed, the reading angle of the display can be adjusted to best suit the driver.

CD-Text

Many CDs now already include additional information on the artist, the name of the album and the names of the individual tracks. The CD-Text function can be used to show this information on the car radio display.

Audio output

The audio output power of a car radio or an external output stage measured according to different measurement standards. RMS power: Continuous power with a sine wave, measured at 10 % THD (DIN 45.324) for car radios or at 1 % THD (DIN 45.500) for amplifiers or another THD as indicated. Music power: Continuous power with a complex signal (music signal), measured at 10 % THD (DIN 45.324) for car radios or at 1 % THD (DIN 45.500) for amplifiers or another THD as indicated. Max. Power: Maximum short-term output power possible, important for extreme level peaks.

Centre-Out

Centre channel generated from the two front channels. It requires an additional external amplifier and a speaker in the centre of the dashboard.

CFG stands for Carbon FibreGlass Cone the optimal cone material for woofers. CFG combines extreme stability and minimum weight with particularly pleasing resonance characteristics. CFG cones deliver practically perfect frequency response even without a crossover.

External sources, such as an MD-Walkman, can be given any user-defined name (max. of 16 characters). This name will then appear in the display of the car radio when the corresponding source is selected.

The TravelPilot DX-R70s travel-guide function allows you to enter such destinations as hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, etc. directly and to read information on these destinations in the display.
Mix mode allows you to display the directional arrows and the map at the same time. You can also simply choose between the two modes.

Navigation functions, radio-based
Practical information such as petrol stations, hotels and restaurants are indicated by symbols on the map. TMC and TIM provide the TravelPilot DX-R70 with proactive, dynamic navigation. TMC makes it possible to detect traffic congestion on the route up ahead and uses this information in route calculation. TIM stores all traffic messages, even when the unit is not switched on.
Easy-to-understand arrow symbols and a friendly voice let you know which exit to take in the roundabout plenty of time in advance.
The Operating Assistant makes your work easier by using colour coding to mark the input options.

PP (Polypropylene) cone

The PP cone developed by Blaupunkt is a solid, reliable cone. Acoustically, it creates a perfect frequency response and an extremely pleasant sound in the upper mid-range. The PP cone is used in all the speakers in the In Car series as well as the ODsb 5000.
PTY Program Type: A function that is supported by an increasing number of radio stations, whereby the car radio can search for stations broadcasting specific program contents (e.g. news, rock, pop, sport, etc.). RT Radiotext: Additional information supplied by the radio station on the programme (e. g. title of the programme, name of the artist, etc.).
The TravelPilot DX-R52s precise locating makes sure you arrive safe and sound like all Blaupunkt navigation systems, it is accurate right down to within three metres.

Reinforced Seam Surround

Circuit that reliably prevents amplifier shutdown due to overload. It subtly varies the voltage at the power supply to reduce heat production without discernibly changing the audio output volume, thus guaranteeing reliable performance even when operated continuously at maximum power levels.

SPC (Spun Paper Cone)

The SPC, a development by Blaupunkt, is a very stable, reliable paper cone. Thanks to a unique polishing process and the mixture of 9 mineral materials, the mechanical SPC exhibits a high degree of stiffness. In terms of sound, it produces an extremely homogenous frequency response without any noticeable cone resonance. The SPC is used for the ODce 20, ODce 20A, ODsb 8000A, GTb 300, GTx300 and GTb 300 Dual.
A system developed by Blaupunkt with a digital voice memory that can record up to 4 traffic messages with a total length of 4 minutes. The TIM memory updates itself continually. A function that even works when the car radio is switched off in a freely selectable time frame.

When used in car radios, the DDA process works with two independent antennas and receivers, whose signals are digitized using intermediate frequency analog-digital converters. The digitized data is then fed to an adaptive algorithm with extremely low response times. Thus, the two intermediate frequency signals are combined so that the antenna can gain up to 3 dB of antenna power even for weak reception eld strength levels. In areas with strong reception, the second regular receiver, the socalled RDS background receiver, is then freely available. Switching between DDA operation and RDS background reception is quick and inaudible, controlled by a logic that evaluates the current reception conditions. This guarantees the radio listeners the best possible reception and rapid frequency switching at all times, without annoying station searches.

MP3/WMA music on MultimediaCard/SD-Card Depending on storage capacity, more than 20 hours of MP3/WMA music can be stored on the MultimediaCard/SD card. Its not much bigger than a postage stamp, easy to transport and versatile to use. Radio Navigation Systems Radio Navigation Systems (1 DIN) are integrated in the car radio and are controlled via the userfriendly user interface. You receive understandable driving recommendations via the car hi- speakers even while you are listening to music thanks to the corridor function. In addition, information is provided in the form of arrow symbols or the permanent map display. Stand-alone navigation systems On-screen navigation systems consist of a color monitor (16:9 or 4:3) and a separate navigation unit for loading the navigation data (DVD or CD). AF Alternative Frequency: The car radio automatically selects the frequency with the best reception for the program you are currently listening to. EON Enhanced Other Networks: When a trafc announcement (TA) is broadcast, the radio will automatically switch from a station that does not transmit trafc information to one that does in the same broadcasting network. M/S Music/Speech: In future, a number of radio stations will differentiate between music and speech programs. A separate tone setting (lowering bass and treble) can be selected (via DSC) for speech programs. PI Code: The car radio uses the PI code to identify the radio station. PS Program Service: Allows the display of the station name. PTY Program Type: A function that is supported by an increasing number of radio stations, whereby the car radio can search for stations broadcasting specic program contents (e.g. news, rock, pop, sport, etc.). RT Radiotext: Additional information supplied by the radio station on the program (e.g. title of the program, name of the artist, etc.).

The Trafc Message Channel is a free service provided by radio stations; its trafc information is continually taken into account when computing routes. This information permits proactive, dynamic trafc jam avoidance on freeways and main national roads. Navigation systems, TravelPilot Active route guidance system for motorists using speech output and a screen/display. Route guidance is based on navigation software (CD/DVD/ SD-card or preinstalled in internal memory) and navigation computer (TravelPilot). Locating via satellite (GPS), speed signal, gyroscope, and data comparison with the digital map, depending on the respective system. All TravelPilot navigation systems are suitable for use and simple installation in all classes of automobiles. Portable Navigation Systems Portable navigation systems can be used quickly and exibly, whether on foot, in your car or in a rental car. Preamp-Out

Preamp output to control external ampliers, available in either 2-channel or 4-channel versions. The standard output is 2 volts. To improve sound quality and the control of external ampliers, the top-of-the-line car radios have a maximum output of up to 5 volts.

Station list (dynamic)

Electronically corrects the asymmetrical seating position in the vehicle by delaying the music channels so that the sound waves emitted by all the speakers reach the listener at the same time. The signal time for the Bremen MP76 can be adjusted right down to the last centimeter. It is possible to select different seating positions. Listing and automatic updating of all the radio stations within reception range. The advantage: you no longer need station keys and have access to all the available stations.

Reinforced seam surround

Subwoofer with a max. power >1000 watts are subjected to enormous mechanical pressure. The joint between the surround and the cone in particular can tear under the strain of continuously high cone excursion. An extra seam stitched to join these two components reliably prevents damage to the speaker.

Telephone line-in

Separate Aux input to which a mobile telephone can be connected for hands-free operation. The callers voice is heard on the car hi- speakers. A system developed by Blaupunkt with a digital voice memory that can record up to 4 trafc messages with a total length of 4 minutes. The TIM memory updates itself continually. A function that even works when the car radio is switched off in a freely selectable time frame.

TP Trafc Program

Advanced development of the DigiCeiver with two receivers in one car radio. The TwinCeiver, which boasts two DSP-based receivers, underscores Blaupunkts outstanding position in perfect radio reception: crackling and noise due to multipath reception caused by apartment blocks in cities or mountains in the countryside now virtually belong to the past. More distant stations, which were once well outside of the usual reception range, are now within reach as well: the TwinCeiver continuously evaluates the digitized signals from two antennas and combines them to create a strong, clear signal that is free of interference. This process, which was developed by Blaupunkt engineers, is called DDA (Digital Directional Antenna) and it mimics the reactions of an extremely quick, automatic directional antenna similar to TV rabbit ears that deliver just snow or perfect reception depending on just a small adjustment. If the reception is currently so good that the second antenna is not required, or if only one antenna is connected, the radio can be switched to dynamic station lists. This means that the display will only show those stations that are actually within reception range which saves you a lot of searching.

USB connection

Allows connection of external USB storage media (e.g. USB stick, USB Flash Player, portable hard disk) to the car radio. In this way, music stored there in MP3/WMA format can be selected and played back via the car radio. The media used must fulll the USB 2.0 standard in order to ensure compatibility.
