Caution: Do not use this product with headphones when operating a motor vehicle on a public road, or where the inability to hear outside sounds may present a danger. Caution: If you hear no sound when playing a disc, DO
NOT turn the volume up high because music could suddenly start at high volume. Turn the volume control to the lowest level before starting playback and slowly increase volume to the desired level.
Note: If the CD/MP3 player is brought from a cold to a warm location, moisture may condense inside, causing it to stop working. Should this occur, remove the disc and leave the player in a warm location for several hours to allow the moisture to evaporate. Note: Use the player with 2 AA batteries (LR06 alkaline). The CD/MP3 player is not supplied with an AC adapter. Use only a safety agency approved 4.5-6VDC with a minimum of 350mA AC adapter. Plus pole (+) to the center pin of the 3.5mm socket. When the unit is not used, be sure to disconnect the AC power adapter.

Unlocking the Hold Switch
The Hold switch, located on the right side of the player, may be ON when shipped from the factory. This prevents the controls from operating. Move the Hold switch to OFF to disable Hold and unlock all controls. Turn Hold ON to prevent accidental operation of the controls.
Connecting and Wearing TriPort Headphones
To make the headphone connection, firmly insert the headphone plug into the jack on the right side of the player. Put on the headphones using the markings which identify the left (L) and right (R) earcups. Adjust the headband so it rests gently on top of your head and the earcup cushions fit comfortably around your ears.

Installing the Batteries

Slide the compartment door open. The diagram inside the compartment shows the positioning of the positive and negative battery terminals.
The Bose CD/MP3 player uses two AA (LR06 alkaline) batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries. Battery life is 8-10 hours for audio CDs and 11-12 hours for MP3-CDs. Note: You can use rechargeable batteries (NiMH, composed of nickel metal hydride, are recommended). They average half the life of alkaline batteries. However, the low battery symbol is not set for such batteries and will not be a reliable indicator of their remaining battery life. Do not mix alkaline and rechargeable batteries.

Opening Open the CD compartment by sliding the latch to the right on the front side of the player. Place a CD inside the compartment, with the printed side facing upward. Press down gently until the CD clicks in place. Press the CD door to close. Play/Pause Button If the Bose CD/MP3 player is OFF, press the Play/Pause button to turn it ON and begin playback. Press Play/Pause to halt a track at any point. Press again to resume playback at that point. When a track is paused and no button is pressed for 15 minutes, the player will automatically turn off. The Play/Pause button is inactive when a CD directory is initially reading, when there is no CD in the player, and when a CD cannot be read. It becomes active when a track begins playing. Stop Button Press Stop to halt the playback of a track. Press Play/ Pause to resume playback from the beginning of the track. If you press Stop when a track is paused, play remains stopped at the beginning of the track. Pressing Stop again turns the player off. The Bose CD/MP3 player will turn off if you press and hold Stop for three seconds.

Next Track/Previous Track Buttons When a CD is being played, press the Next Track button to advance to the next track. If the last track on a CD is being played, pressing Next Track will advance play to the first track on the CD. When a CD is being played, press the Previous Track button to play the beginning of that track. Press the button again, within three seconds of the first press, to play the previous track. When a track is being played, press and hold the Next Track or Previous Track button to scan forward or backward through the current track. When the track ends, scanning will continue forward to the next track until the button is released. When no track is being played, press and hold the Next Track or Previous Track button to scroll forward or backward across all tracks until the button is released. Volume Up/Volume Down Buttons Use these buttons to adjust playback volume. Press the Volume Up or Volume Down button once to increase or decrease the volume by one setting. Press and hold either volume button to continuously increase or decrease the volume settings. Volume may be adjusted during playback or when the player is stopped.
Anti-Skip Button The Anti-skip button reduces skipping if the Bose CD/MP3 player is moved during playback. This feature is ON by default. The player will not skip when carried while walking with Antiskip activated. displays in the bottom right corner of the CD display window when the feature is ON. Press the Anti-skip button to disable or reactivate this feature during Play, Pause, or Stop modes. Hold You can lock the CD player to prevent the settings from changing during playback or when the player is OFF. Slide the Hold switch, located on the side of the player, to ON to enable Hold and lock all controls. displays in the bottom right corner of the CD display window when the switch is activated. You will not be able to operate the controls of the CD player until the Hold switch is set to OFF. Pressing Play/Pause will cause to flash momentarily if the CD player is OFF and the Hold switch is ON. Activate Hold when the player is not in use to save battery life by preventing accidental operation.

Next Folder/Previous Folder Button Press the Next Folder and Previous Folder buttons to navigate through folders on your CD. If the CD contains only MP3 tracks and no folders, pressing either folder button will advance or go back ten tracks. When you play an audio CD, the folder controls are inactive, as audio CDs do not contain folders. Browse The Browse feature allows you to navigate through tracks without interrupting the track that is playing. When you press the Browse button the Browse symbol appears in the top left corner of the display window. Navigate to a track on your CD. To play the track being displayed, press Play/Pause. This will deactivate the feature. Or, to continue play of the current track, press the Browse button a second time.
Add to MyMix Button The Add to MyMix button creates and maintains a new custom playlist each time you turn the player ON or each time you open the CD compartment. Turn the player ON, navigate to a track you want to include in the playlist, and press the Add to MyMix button. This creates a new folder containing the selected track. To add a track to the playlist, press the Add to MyMix button while the track is displayed. To access the MyMix folder, press and hold the Add to MyMix button for two seconds. To delete a track from the MyMix folder, press the Add to MyMix button while the track is displayed. Shuffle Button When you press the Shuffle button while playing an audio CD, the player plays all tracks in random order. The SHUFFLE graphic appears in the bottom center of the display window. Press again to cancel Shuffle mode. When you press the Shuffle button while playing a MP3CD, the player plays the contents of the current folder in random order. The SHUFFLE FOLDER graphic displays. Press again and the player plays all files on the disc in random order. The SHUFFLE ALL graphic displays. When all tracks have been heard, the player stops. Pressing again cancels Shuffle mode.

When a CD is first loaded, the numerals in the center of the window show the total number of tracks and the total length of the CD for three seconds. When the volume is being adjusted, the volume graphic appears at the center of the display, and the volume level is displayed graphically. When a track begins to play, the track number and total number of tracks of the CD or current folder is displayed. This information, shown for two seconds, is then replaced with the elapsed time of the track. When a CD is paused, the elapsed time and track text flashes at the point where playback was paused. Note: When detailed track information is not available the current tracks filename will be shown.

Playing MP3-CD Music Files
When you load an MP3-CD, folders that contain MP3 files are displayed alphabetically. Numbered folders are displayed sequentially. Folders that contain no tracks do not appear. After the table of contents is read the first track displays and begins to play.

No Disc or Disc Error

This indicates there is no CD in the player, the CD is upside-down, or the CD cannot be read. Other controls are deactivated. The message displays until the player door is opened or the player is automatically or manually turned off.

Battery Replacement

Low Battery Symbol The Low Battery symbol has three segments that indicate the amount of remaining battery life. When approximately ten minutes of playing time remain, the messages Batteries Low and Please Replace appear for three seconds when the player is powered up or Play is activated. When less than ten minutes remain, the low battery symbol flashes.
Cleaning the TriPort CD Music System
The Triport CD music system does not require scheduled cleaning. However, you can simply wipe the outside surfaces of the headphones and Bose CD/MP3 player with a soft cloth as needed. Be sure the TriPort headphone earcup ports are kept clear and that no moisture enters the earcup.
Replacement parts and accessories
An extension cord, drawstring carry bag, and replacement earcup cushions may be ordered through Bose Customer Service. See the list of telephone numbers on page 19 of this guide.
Reattaching Earcup Cushions

Mounting flange

The earcup cushions are held in place by a flange which snaps under small tabs located around the inside rim of the earcup. If an earcup cushion becomes partially or completely detached, push
the mounting flange of the cushion back into the earcup. Using your finger or thumb, press around the edge of the mounting flange, making sure it snaps into place all the way around the earcup.

Troubleshooting

Problem No audio
Solution Be sure player in ON and headphone plug is secure. Turn volume up slowly. Press Play/Pause to start playback. Be sure headphone plug is secure in its jack. Remove any debris from earcup ports. Load batteries. Be sure batteries are loaded properly. Replace batteries.

Distorted sound

Player has no power
Playback does not start Load batteries. Be sure batteries are loaded properly. Replace batteries. Turn Hold switch OFF.
