Expert Talks About Global Climate Change
There are many things everyone can do to reduce carbon emissions and preserve the environment, according to Todd H. Albert, Ph.D., physical geographer and professor at Bowling Green State University, who spoke on campus Aug. 26. Simple efforts, such as turning off power strips, reusing and recycling, reducing consumption of goods, voting and shopping smart by doing research on good choices for the environment and being informed can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the air. Although global climate change was recognized by scientists as early as the 1800s, the earth is warming much faster than predicted. Scientists estimate that unless humans become better stewards of the environment now, 150 million people will be displaced due to climate changes during the next 30 years. One result of a warming climate is melting arctic ice, gla ciers and ice caps, which causes sea-level rise meaning that cit ies built close to water will be in jeopardy. Marching Oiler Brass Begins Season

Avenue in the noon parade, band members will get on the bus for the 10-hour return trip home, expecting to arrive in Findlay around 2 a.m. the next morning. Back home, the Oiler Brass will perform in the annual Findlay Hal-
loween parade, which it has done every year since 1998. The band will close out its season at the last football game on Nov. 1, and then this year will present for the first time a marching band concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, in the
Winebrenner Theological Seminary auditorium. Then on Nov. 3rd, theyll hand in their uniforms and its all finished, Taylor said.

Quentin Skrabec, Ph.D., associate professor of business, was the featured speaker at the Akron Rotary meeting Aug. 19. Skrabec discussed the subject of his book, William McKinley: Apostle of Protectionism. Skrabec authored other books focusing on Michael Owens and George Westinghouse. featuring our products in upcoming issues. As for television, I took part in writing pitch letters for our new client TAOC, which is a game, for Oprah, Ellen and Good Morning America. When I took the game along with the pitch letter to Good Morning America, I was able to meet the producer and personally talk about the product. The other part of my internship was doing personal errands for our celebrity client Eileen Fulton. She was a prime soap star in the 1960s and is the sweetest lady I have ever met. Every time my boss needed something sent, I delivered it personally to her apartment. My internship in NYC taught me that its not always going to be fun but that doing the drudge work of being an intern, such as calling and running errands, is a very important part of the job. With all of the news releases and pitch letters I wrote, I created a solid portfolio. Adjusting to working in NYC was quite a feat coming from a small town in Ohio. The experience I gained and how quickly I was able to adjust to big city living made me sure that I am determined to move back there upon my graduation.
