Since 1999, Black Movie film festival offers annually the largest cinematographic event evocative of Genevas cosmopolitan nature. Always on the lookout for the best in Asian, African and South American cinema, the festivals program focuses on themes such as social topics (migration, clan mentality, war, adolescence), current events, popular cinema, new urban cultures, or defined by genre (Latin-American thrillers, Nigerian videos, Korean documentaries), and retrospectives of directors. Black Movie is a contemporary film festival based on todays social and aesthetic realities, presenting an original and innovative programme. In the previous editions, some of the world's most innovative filmmakers have attended the festival, such as the Argentinian Lisandro Alonso, the Korean Hong Sang-soo, the Taiwanese Tsai Ming-Liang, the Mexican Carlos Reygadas, the Chinese Jia Zhang Ke, And there is lots more: discussion lounge, round table, Dj and Vj evenings.

9th INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL AND FORUM ON HUMAN RIGHTS (FIFDH)

March 4 13, 2011

Directors: Leo Kaneman & Yal Reinharz Hazan FIFDH Maison des Arts du Grtli Rue Gnral-Dufour 16, Case postale 5730 CH-1211 Genve 11, Switzerland Tel: +41.22-800.15.54 - Fax: +41.22-329.37.47 e-mail: contact@fifdh.ch - www.fifdh.org
The inspiration and impetus behind the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH) came from Human Rights defenders, filmmakers, representatives from the media and the University of Geneva. The FIFDH coincides with the UN Human Rights Council and is a platform for all public and private actors defending human dignity. The festival is an International Forum on Human Rights that informs and denounces violations wherever they take place. Situated in the heart of Geneva, the International Capital for Human Rights, the festival also serves as a go-between for all human rights activists. For one week, it offers debates, original film screenings and solidarity initiatives. With its concept a film, a subject, a debate, the aim of the FIFDH is to denounce attacks on human dignity and to raise public awareness through films and debates in the presence of filmmakers, defenders of human rights and recognized specialists.

25th FRIBOURG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
March 19 26, 2011 Director: Edouard Waintrop Ancienne Gare, Case postale 550, CH-1701 Fribourg Tel: +41.26-347.42.00 - Fax: +41.26-347.42.01 e-mail: info@fiff.ch - www.fiff.ch Since its creation in 1980, the Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) has promoted quality films and supported independent cinema and young filmmakers from Asia, South America and Africa. The core of the festival is the high-level competition of featurelength fiction and documentary films, which attracts every year audacious, artistic and visionary pictures. Alongside the competition, special sections and retrospectives offer the possibility of going deeper into a cinematographic topic, genre or period. Winners 2009: Le Regard dOr (Grand Jury Award, CHF 30000): The Other Bank, George Ovashvili, Georgia/Kasakhstan Talent Tape Award (CHF 23000): Tehroun, Nader T. Homayoun, Iran - Special Jury Award (7000): Norteado, Rigoberto Perezcano, Mexico/Spain Audience Award (CHF 5000): The Other Bank, George Ovashvili, Georgia/Kasakhstan FIPRESCI Award: Border, Harutyun Khachatryan, Armenia/Netherlands. Highlights 2010: As true premiere in the festivals history, Armenia and Georgia were represented in the competition and won! Georgian director George Ovashvili received the Regard dOr from the hands of Jury President Hanna Schygulla. The appearance of contemporary Russian cinema was another highlight of this years festival. The panorama Je me balade dans Moscou presented a selection of nineteen Russian films. Amongst the special screenings, the FIFF presented the entire body of work of young Chinese director Zhao Liang. The Festival showcased more than 80 films; most of them being screened as Swiss premiere. The Forum@FIFF was dedicated to the global phenomenon of television series, with a focus on the Middle East. The selected series were analyzed from aesthetic, narrative, socio-cultural, ideological, geo-political and economic points of view. As always, a variety of side programmes, highly appreciated by both the professionals and the general public, accompanied the actual movie experience, such as exhibitions, panel discussions and special events. VISIONS DU REEL - NYON

INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL DOC OUTLOOK INTERNATIONAL MARKET
April 15 21, 2010 / May 5 11, 2011
Director: Jean Perret Rue Juste Olivier 18, CH-1260 Nyon, Switzerland Tel: +41.22-365.44.55 - Fax: +41.22-365.44.50 e-mail: docnyon@visionsdureel.ch - www.visionsdureel.ch
It is comforting to feel the quietness emanated again by the films selected for this 16th edition of Visions du Rel. Not that they are slow, oh no, some of them are very fast-moving in the way they tell stories! They convey a different experience which documentary filmmakers share with their spectators when they - filmmakers - take time to cast their gaze and focus their attention on the faces, landscapes, voices and din of the world. This film genre is comforting when the real world takes shape thus in its exciting complexity. It is exhilarating to share with the audiences these visions that reflect the extraordinary diversity of genres, scripts and viewpoints. Nearly 2,000 films have been viewed by the members of the Working Group, which is made up of specialists hired to spot the most striking films, to write the texts of the Catalogue and to moderate debates and meetings. At a time when the conditions under which films made by independent directors can assert their identity are deteriorating in terms of production and distribution, the 2010 Programme is an exemplary illustration of fierce and stubborn resistance to run-of-the-mill audiovisual fare. It is impressive for us to have taken the decision to step down from the Management of Visions du Rel this year when we can share in the extraordinary success that we feel entitled to claim. At the same time we know we owe that success to the filmmakers and producers and film professionals and public- and privatesector financial partners and film-goers and partners of all cultures, along with other accomplices, who have placed their trust in us for 16 years. To them we say, quite simply and with true gratitude, thank you. It is reassuring that the Nyon International Film Festival is this year opening a new film theatre for its viewers, since the future is theirs. Tomorrow a new director will be able to give these Visions the momentum they need to continue this adventure: to usher in the privileged era of a Visions du Rel entirely committed to depicting the radiant beauty and convulsive unsightliness of a world in search of authentic narratives.
