Boston Voyager Rock Speakers are designed to blend gracefully with virtually any outdoor dcor and are specially voiced for open-air environments. These tough and durable outdoor speakers feature rustproof hardware, grilles, and connectors and are designed to withstand the harshest weather and temperature extremes. Each model also features a recessed weatherproof cavity on the bottom that can house an optional 70/100 volt transformer for use in light commercial installations.

Many manufacturers design speaker systems around third-party, off-the-shelf parts. Boston Acoustics engineers every component of every system to meet the highest performance standards (our own). Dual Tweeters

RK6T2/RK8T2 (single speaker stereo)
The Voyager Rock Speakers RK6T2 and RK8T2 are stereo models that employ a dual voice coil woofer and dual tweeters capable of providing stereo sound from a single speaker. The RK6T2 contains a 61/2-inch bass unit and the RK8T2 has an 8-inch bass unit. The RK6T2 and RK8T2 are available in three different rock formations: River Rock, Sandstone, and New England Granite.

RK5 (single channel)
The RK5 is configured as a single channel speaker and includes a 51/4-inch bass unit and 3/4 tweeter. Use two RK5s to support stereo left and right channels. The RK5 is available in three different rock formations: River Rock, Sandstone, and New England Granite.

Amplifier Requirements

The Voyager subwoofer must be used with its companion, the Boston Acoustics SA1 amplifier. Use with any other amplifier will result in poor performance and may cause damage to the Voyager subwoofer. One SA1 amplifier can power one or two Voyager Sub12 subwoofers.

Crossover Setting

The ideal crossover setting will depend on the size and location of the main speakers. When used with Boston Acoustics Voyager outdoor speakers, the crossover will typically be set between 65Hz and 80Hz; you should experiment for best results. For more information on setting the crossover, please consult the SA1 manual.

3. Add approximately 2-inches of soft dirt to the bottom of the hole. This creates a platform for the subwoofer, making positioning easier. 4. Place the Sub12 in the hole. The subwoofer should rest so that the top of the point is level with the ground and so the speaker is standing completely vertical. (See diagram #6) Do not mount the subwoofer any deeper than recommended. 5. Fill the area around the Voyager Sub12 with loose dirt. After this is done, firmly compact the loose ground around the subwoofer, making sure that the Sub12 is mounted securely. Once the ground is packed in and around the subwoofer, the Sub12 should not be able to be rocked back and forth. 6. Connect the speaker wire. 7. After the system is checked, use nonconductive silicone to seal the area in and around the binding posts. This will help prevent any corrosion that can occur when bare copper wire is exposed to the elements. Secure the wire to prevent it from being stretched, being pulled, or vibrating against the cabinet.
