PW:ButyoutriednottogetSaturdayclassesifyoucould,somecoursesyoutookyoudidnthaveto takeSaturdayclasses.AlltheonesthatItookwereregularSaturdayclasses.Chemistrywaseight oclockSaturdaymorning,andthenyouhadlabintheafternoon.Idontknowhowtheylearnanything now,theyreinschoolsolittle. JS:So,whatdidyoudoaftergraduation? PW:IoriginallyroomedwithReggieJones,whosefatherwasalawyerinHopewellandwasonthe schoolboard.Iwassupposedtogetajobwithhim;Ididnthaveajobandhearrangedformetoteach historyandphysicsatHopewellHighforninetydollarsamonthfortenmonths,butIdecidedthatIdtry somethingelse.Afellowacoupleyearsaheadofme,JohnHolman,hadgone,wasinchemistryand hedgonetoworkforDuPontinNewJerseyandIwrotehimandaskedhimaboutanyjobsupthereand hewrotebackandgavemethenameofthedirectorofthelab,and,soIwrotehimandhegavemean appointmenttocomeup,whichIdid,andspentawholedaywithhim,andhedecidedhewouldgiveme ajob.ButIsaidwhendoIstart,andhesaidyouonlygettwoweeksvacationsoyoubettertakewhat youwantbeforehand.SoIwantedtosetitforthefirstofSeptember,andhesaid,wellwecoulduse youthissummer,soIendedupstartingthefirstofAugustinNewJersey.Anditwasabigjob.Igot140 amonth. JS:Betterthan90.
