Bought this for a trip to Africa and I needed the optical stabilization. My old Sony 8mm basically went DOA after years of faithful service. Refurbishing seemed too expensive.

Canon has built a great camcorder here. They really put some effort into the optics, which is often a lacking point in the camcorder market.

Overlooked Gem What a gem. I bought this camera over 18 months ago and having twin toddlers managed to put around twenty tapes through it. Very good As usual, Canon offers superb image quality. The machine is top level for its price. In my opinon, anyway.

This is on excellent camera. The images are noticable clearer at all light levels than my previous camera, the Elura 10. The camcorder is smaller than you think it is when you look at the spec sheets and pictures of it.
