WHAT IS A TALKING OWNER'S MANUAL? A Talking Owner's Manual is a proven learning system of spoken product instructions on audio cassette for CASIO keyboards. It is a recorded explanation of how to operate and use the electronic functions and features found on a CASIO keyboard. As you listen to a T.O.M., it explains step-by-step the layout, control groups, color codings, connections, care and safety, usable accessories, and what the knobs, buttons, switches, sliders and displays can do on the keyboard. Since it is nearly impossible to describe sound combinations in a printed book, the demonstrations and explanations are supported by musical examples with sounds to make learning to operate your keyboard easier than printed manuals. Our audio instructions are created for those who dislike wading through printed manuals, can't read small printing, lack the time or patience to understand the operational steps described in print. A Talking Owner's Manual will save you hours of time and frustration as you learn to use your keyboard. You'll successfully operate the buttons, controls and hundreds of combinations to get the most sound, functions, music and fun from the model you own after a couple of listenings. T.O.M.s are educationally produced by a world-renown CASIO expert product specialist using examples of the sounds from the specic CASIO keyboard models. Instructions are paced to make learning to operate your keyboard step-by-step a rewarding experience. Listening to these spoken instructions is like having an expert teacher look over your shoulder and explain how to get the most out of the exciting features designed into your keyboard. NO TIME TO DUST AND CLEAN YOUR KEYBOARD?
ANTI-STATIC KEYBOARD COVERS KEYCOVERS provide an attractive - and most important - highly effective barrier against dirt, dust, smoke lm, accidental liquid and food spills, and pet curiosity; the most common reasons for keyboard failures. KEYCOVERS are made from strong, preshrunk translucent vinyl sheeting. All seams and edges are stitched and reinforced with fabric binding for rugged durability. Since they are clear, you can easily see if your keyboard's power switch has been left on by mistake, so you can conserve battery energy while your CASIO is "covered". They'll protect at home, in studios, churches, boats, RV's, a gig, and on long-term engagements. KEYCOVERS are cleanable with mild soap and water or vinyl cleaner. you'll eliminate a lot of dusting over the years when your keyboard is "covered" with KEYCOVERS. Sampling and Playing a Melody Sound (Melody Sampling)
Use the procedures in this section to sample a sound and play it as the melody part on the Digital Keyboard. Up to five sampled sounds can be stored in Digital Keyboard memory as tone numbers 671 through 675 (CTK4000: 571 through 575). Simply select the tone number where the sound you want is located to assign the sound to the keyboard.
4. After the sound you want to sample is finished, press cr.
Sampling will stop when you release cr. Even if you do not press cr, sampling will stop automatically whenever there is no more sound being input from the external device. Sampling also will stop automatically 10 seconds after it is started.

Connecting External Devices
Connecting a Computer
You can connect the Digital Keyboard to a computer and exchange MIDI data between them. You can send play data from the Digital Keyboard to music software running on your computer, or you can send MIDI data from your computer to the Digital Keyboard for playback.
Connecting the Digital Keyboard to Your Computer
Make sure you follow the steps of the procedure below exactly. Connecting incorrectly can make data send and receive impossible.
Minimum Computer System Requirements
The following shows the minimum computer system requirements for sending and receiving MIDI data. Check to make sure that your computer complies with these requirements before connecting the Digital Keyboard to it. Operating System Windows XP (SP2 or later)*1 Windows Vista *2 Mac OS X (10.3.9, 10.4.11 or later, 10.5.2 or later) *1: Windows XP Home Edition Windows XP Professional (32- bit) *2: Windows Vista (32- bit) USB port
This is due to system limitations. It does not indicate malfunction. In certain keyboard ranges, the volume and tone quality sound are slightly different from those in other keyboard ranges. With some tones, octaves do not change at the far ends of the keyboard. The pitch of the notes does not match other accompanying instruments or sounds strange when played long with other instruments. The reverb of notes seems to change suddenly. This is due to system limitations. It does not indicate malfunction. Check and adjust the transpose (page E-15) and tuning settings (page E-15). Turn power off and then back on to initialize all Digital Keyboard settings (page E-9). Check and adjust the reverb setting (page E-14). Turn power off and then back on to initialize all Digital Keyboard settings (page E-9).
Operation When I perform a skip forward or skip back operation, the skip operation moves multiple song measures instead of only a single measure. Tone, rhythm, and other settings revert to their initial defaults whenever you turn on the Digital Keyboard. Computer Connection I cant exchange data between the Digital Keyboard and a computer. Check to make sure that the USB cable is connected to the Digital Keyboard and computer, and that the device is selected correctly with your computers music software settings (page E-65). Turn off the Digital Keyboard and then exit the music software on your computer. Next, turn the Digital Keyboard back on and then restart the music software on your computer. While song playback is stopped or a Step Up Lesson is in progress, skip forward and skip back operations are performed in phrase units (page E-26). Though Digital Keyboard settings reset when you turn off the Digital Keyboard, you can save setups to registration memory for instant recall whenever you need them (page E-46).
Check and adjust the accompaniment volume setting (page E-40). Check and adjust the song volume (page E-28). Turn power off and then back on to initialize all Digital Keyboard settings (page E-9).
