The iPod Book

This handy reference guide will let you know which Apple iPod will work with which Clarion Car Audio source unit and what cable or interface is required.
The following outlines the various iPod interfaces and cables that have been offered by Clarion. Not all interfaces are compatible with all source units. Please use the source unit cross reference charts as well as the iPod Connectivity chart to ensure you match the correct cable with the correct source unit.
This is Clarions original iPod Audio interface. This interface allows a compatible iPod to be seen by the source unit as a CD changer. This interface allows the user to create 5 playlists entitled clarion1, clarion2, etc and be able to access those playlists from the CD changer disk selection option on the source unit. This interface will charge the battery in the iPod when connected. The interface includes a 6-foot CeNET cable.
EA1251B CeNET iPod Audio Interface

<2006

This interface is known as the Advanced iPod Audio Interface. This interface adds the ability to sort the music on the connected iPod by Album, Song, Artist, Genre, Composer or Playlist to make accessing specic tracks easier. This interface will charge the battery in the iPod when connected. The interface includes a 6-foot CeNET cable. This part has been discontinued and replaced by the CCA-IPOD
EA1276B CeNET iPod Audio Interface

Discontinued

This is the latest version of the CeNET Advanced iPod Audio Interface. The interface was redesigned to make installation easier. This interface also has the ability to sort the music on the connected iPod by Album, Song, Artist, Genre, Composer or Playlist to make accessing specic tracks easier. This interface will charge the battery in the iPod when connected. The interface includes a 3-foot CeNET cable.
CCA-IPOD CeNET iPod Audio Interface
The CCA-673 iPod Audio/Video cable was designed for specic Clarion Multimedia Stations that offer iPod Audio and or iPod Video playback capabilities. The source unit, when connected with this cable will allow for on-screen graphical control of the connected iPod. iPod Compatibility - iPod Video Output
The newest generation of iPods (6 Gen Classic, 3 Gen Nano, Touch and iPhone) require specialized hardware to enable the video output. Clarion is developing this hardware and will offer it in the future. If you would like to watch video from these units, please use the Visual input on your Multimedia Station along with the Apple Composite A/V Cable.
iPod Compatibility - iPhone Connection
The iPhone can be controlled by Clarion source units when the following instructions are followed: 1. 2. 3. 4. Connect the iPhone to your Clarion source unit using the Dock Connector. The iPhone will display a message saying Accessory Attached. The iPhone will then ask if you want to enter Airplane Mode to which you should select No. You may now select iPod from the source menu of your Clarion Source unit.

iPod Compatibility - iPod Touch Connection
The iPod Touch needs to be in the Locked position to. When prompted, do not activate the Slide to Unlock function.
iPod Compatibility - iPod Video on Multimedia Stations
Clarion Multimedia stations allow for iPod video playback. Here are a few notes that should be observed when demonstrating, installing and operating this combination. The Parking Brake (Light green wire) must be set, released and set again to allow Video to be displayed on the screen of a Clarion Multimedia Station. This includes iPod Video Playback. The yellow composite video connector on the CCA673 cable must be connected to the yellow Visual Input connector on the rear of a Clarion Mutlimedia Station.
As Apple does not provide a means to control (select or start) video playback remotely, your Clarion Multimedia Stations will relinquish control over the iPod when video is selected. Select and start the video / podcast you want to view manually.
