Before the first use
Unpack your Espresso machine carefully. Remove all accessories and packaging. Please clean all accessories (incl. filter, filter holder, measuring spoon, water tank) with a mild cleaning detergent in warm water. Before brewing your first espresso or when the equipment has not been used for a certain time, please remove all air out the system by pumping fresh Water through the system. This way the pump will be made ready for use, the brew head will be preheated und air bubbles will be pushed out the system. Remarks: Do not connect to power unless you have finished your preparations. Please make sure the steam valve is closed entirely before switching on power.
Filling the Tank
Pull out the water tank rinse and fill to the top mark (MAX) with fresh cold water. Push the tank back into position. (The hose has to be placed in the water). The tank can also be filled by pulling it out just far enough so you are able to fill in water with a jug. (i.e. when the equipment is operating).
Ventilating via the Brew Head
1. Pleas Fill the Water tank with fresh cold water. Place a jug under the brewing head (with filter holder mounted). 2. Push the illuminated ON/OFF Switch und push the pump button. The water needs several seconds to run through the brew head. 3. Keep the water running for at least 1 to 2 minutes. Release the pump button to stop the water. 4. In the event that no water runs through the brew head (air bubbles in the system), push the pump button to stop the pump. Ventilate via the steam valve as described below.
Ventilating via the Steam valve
1. Please make sure there is enough fresh water in the tank. 41
Seite 42
2. Swing the steam valve outwards and place a jug under the valve. After switching the equipment on and opening the steam control switch please turn the knob counter clock wise. This opens the steam valve entirely. 3. Now, please press the pump button. Water is passed from the percolating head to the steam nozzle. Allow the water to flow for at least one to two minutes through the steam nozzle. 4. After ventilation via the steam valve please release the pump button and close the steam control switch clock wise to close the steam valve completely. We advise to ventilate the equipment via the steam valve and afterwards via the brew head (this way you will be able to remove all air bubbles out the system) to heat up the system.
Making Espresso
Please remember, Espresso has to be finer than regular percolator coffee. 1. Insert the plug into a 230 V /50 Hz socket, installed according to existing regulations and with earth protection. 2. Please fill fresh cold water into the tank and switch on the ON/OFF switch. The control lamp on the switch lights up. 3. Push the PUMP button. As soon as water runs out the brew head, release the PUMP button, to stop the pump and wait until the readiness light comes on. The water has reached the optimal temperature. 4. Insert the filter into the holder. Fill with levelled spoons of coffee. Make sure the coffee is spread evenly and press lightly with a measuring / pressing spoon. Please remove carefully all obsolete coffee from the filter rim. 5. Insert the filter into the brew head and turn the handle towards LOCK (the filter is properly locked in place, when the handle is positioned in the middle of the machine). Place the espresso cup(s) under the brew head. When the readiness lamp lights up press the pump button and espresso start running into the cup(s). Your machine is working with approx. 15 bar pressure. When the readiness lamp switches off, release the pump button to stop the procedure. After brewing please wait several seconds, before removing the filter. Turn the handle of the filter (from right to left) to release it. Attention: Pressure! To empty the filter, please use the small special lever to hold the filter in place. Turn the filter upside down and tap out the used coffee grain. Please remove the filter after each brewing process. This will prolong the live of the rubber gasket in the brew head. To produce further espresso please refill the filter and wait until the readiness lamp switches on again and proceed as described above.
Making Cappuccino
To froth milk please proceed as follows: 1. Press the steam button and wait until the steam and readiness lamp lights up. 42
Seite 43
2. Swing the steam valve outwards. This way you are able to place the jug (please use a heat resistant jug) comfortably under the valve. Hint: Place an empty jug under the valve, close the steam control switch and for partly opening the steam valve please turn counter clockwise so all condensation build within the steam valve can escape. 3. Close the steam valve. 4. Fill the jug one third with fresh cold milk (warm, hot or old milk will not froth). 5. Immerse the steam valve just below the surface of the milk and open the steam valve. To regulate the quantity of steam turn the steam control knob. 6. Move the jug slightly up and down. Once the milk has reached the desired volume you can heat it up even more by immersing the steam valve almost to the bottom of the jug. Do not boil the mild because the froth will be destroyed. 7. Turn the steam control knob clockwise to close the steam valve. Press the steam button again, to stop the steam. 8. Spoon the foam into the espresso than Add liquid milk. Cappuccino usually consists of one third coffee, one third hot milk and one third frothed milk. Your cappuccino is now ready to be served. Sprinkle sugar, chocolate powder or cinnamon on top.
Cleaning the steam valve
After frothing the steam valve should be cleaned immediately. Once the milk has dried on, it will be very hard to remove it. Soak the steam pipe over night in a cup of water to remove the milk. Put a heat resistant jug filled with water under the valve and open the steam valve. Wipe the steam valve with a damp towel, to remove the milk. If you would like to proceed making espresso after producing steam, put an empty jug under the brew head. Press the pump button, to refill the water supply for the heating system. When water runs out the brew head and the steam- and the readiness lamp switch of release the pump button. Wait until the readiness light switches on again.
Producing Steam
You can easily heat up and prepare tea, soup etc. Proceed as described under making Cappuccino but instead of milk please pour the liquid to be heated in the jug. During producing steam please close the steam valve entirely. In case the steam control lamp switches off or no steam is being produced, the water tank is possibly empty. Press the pump button and as soon as water runs out the brew head release the pump button. Please wait until the steam and readiness lamp switch on. Then you can proceed producing steam as explained above. Please Note: Whilst using the steam function water can spill out the steam valve, this is entirely normal. However caution should be taken to avoid scalding.

Swing the steam valve outwards and place a heat resistant jug under the steam valve. Slowly turn the steam control knob counter clockwise to open the steam valve completely. Press the pump button. Hot water runs now out the steam valve. As soon as the required amount of hot water is reached, release the pump button and close the steam valve entirely. If the readiness lamp switches off before the required amount of water is in the jug, release the pump button and close the steam valve entirely. Please wait until the readiness lamp lights up again. You can than proceed to produce hot water as described above.

This appliance must never be cleaned under running water and must never be immersed into water. All parts of the housing, including the brew head should be cleaned only with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents, detergents or abrasive products to clean the machine. The water tank, drip tray, drip tray cover, filter and filter-holder can be washed by hand in warm water with normal dishwashing liquids. In case the perforation of the filter is blocked please clean with a soft brush. Please do not clean in dishwasher.
De-Scaling
This appliance should be de-scaled on a regular basis, depending on the frequency of use and the quality of your water (i.e. hardness, mineral contents). Please note: Use solemnly products recommended for household percolators. Please use the product according to its description. Use the appliance as described under making espresso until the tank is empty. Allow half of the solution to run through the brew head (without coffee and filter) and the remaining half trough the steam valve. Rinse the tank refill it and let tanks of fresh cold water run through the system until you all odours of the de-scaling product have vanished.
Helpful Hints
Since heat preserves flavour, we advise to preheat the cups. Filtered or bottled water improves the taste of your espresso. Please do not use distilled water.
Seite 45
After each use of the appliance rinse the system with fresh cold water. Additionally to preheating the system ventilation after each use is playing a major role. This reduces the collection of coffee grain in the brew head. It is of major importance to use only coffee made for household espresso machines. The ideal amount of coffee is about 1 measuring spoon per cup. Press the coffee slightly insert the filter as described above. The correct brewing time is about 20 to 30 seconds. Soak the filter and the coffee bowl occasionally in a solution of one part vinegar and five parts water to remove coffee residue. Rinse thoroughly with hot water. To maintain the gasket between the filter and the brew head and to prevent deformation remove the filter from the brew head when the machine is not used.
