Integrated Amplifier
PMA-655R
An Integrated Amp with HC Single Push-Pull Circuit, Combining Delicate Musical Details and Rock-Solid Power
The PMA-655R is an integrated amplifier specially designed to reproduce the remarkably clean sound of next-generation DVD-Audio and SACD sources, as well as existing CDs and analog records. This elegant component gives you the best of two worlds: A high-speed, large-current power circuit ensures a rock-stable supply of power, and an HC single push-pull circuit delivers a powerful sound while preserving the beautiful details of music. The PMA-655R's careful attention to sound quality also features an inert gas relay for switching between CD and PHONO inputs, and redesigned volume, tone, and power circuits to further suppress noise and expand the frequencyband. The PMA-655R is a superior all-round integrated amp, ideal for today's growing choices of high-quality audio entertainment.
High-Current (HC) Single Push-Pull Circuit Combining Delicate Musical Details and Rock-Solid Power Inheriting the concept of the UHC Single Push-Pull circuit that was incorporated in the S-Series and earned high acclaim for the richness of its expressive power, the HC Single Push-Pull circuit was developed to bring out the maximum potential of the PMA-655R integrated amplifier. Delicate nuances of the music and reliable stability of power have finally been combined to open a completely new dimension in sonic experience. Serious and budding audiophiles alike can enjoy the music directly as artistic expression and savor the artists original involvement.
Microprocessor Stop Mode to Further Improve Sound Quality When control by the microprocessor is not needed during listening sessions or other times, the Microprocessor Stop mode suspends all microprocessor operations. During normal listening sessions, microprocessor clock oscillation stops and adverse effects of noise on the audio signal are eliminated to produce a cleaner sound. Every Detail of The Design Devoted to High-Quality Sound The relay switch used for CD and PHONO input contains an inert gas to prevent the occurrence of noise that can negatively affect the signal. In addition, highly reliable parts strictly selected for their contribution to sound quality, such as the large-capacity block capacitor for the power supply circuit, high-quality sound carbon resistors, and high-quality sound capacitors, are also used. Each individual part employed in configuring the circuits reflect this emphasis on high sound quality. Circuit Design Devoted to Full Musical Enjoyment The design of the PMA-655Rs audio circuitry features a simple signal line layout to ensure that the signal remains pure, a Tone control to adjust sound quality as desired, and a Source Direct switch to route the signal over the shortest distance from input to output, providing the most faithful reproduction of the recorded music.
HC-Transistor, for Rich, Expressive Sound The HC-transistor, boasting superior electric current supply capability and double the capacity of normal transistors to handle peak levels of electric current, was developed in order to endow the PMA-655R with high-end audio performance. The dramatic improvement in musical expression is easily audible.
High-Speed, High-Capacity Power Supply Circuit A fast recovery diode featuring both rapid response and superior power supply capability has been employed in the rectifier circuit so that the HC Single Push-Pull circuit can work at its maximum potential. Combined with the large-capacity smoothing block condenser designed for high sound quality, a highly stable power supply ensures that the musical expression is always clear and realistic.
Independent Power Transformer for Microprocessor Separate power transformers are used for the microprocessor circuitry and the audio circuitry in order to minimize power consumption during remote power OFF standby mode and promote environmentally friendly performance. Not only is power consumption reduced during standby, sound quality is improved as well by eliminating noise-inducing interference on the audio circuitry.
Supports A Wide Variety of Next-Generation Sound Sources The volume and tone controls and the power amp circuit have been redesigned to further suppress noise inside the amp, provide greater resolution, and expand the frequency band so that the tremendous dynamism of DVD-Audio, SACD, and other next-generation audio will come alive.
Versatile System-Wide Remote Controller The remote controller provided with the PMA-655R controls the main volume, switches functions, mutes the sound, and operates remote power ON/OFF. Since this is a system-wide commander, it can be used to control a DENON CD player, MD recorder, tuner, and cassette deck as well. PHONO Equalizer Amp (MM), Permitting Connection of An Analog Turntable A Wealth of Input and Output Terminals That Flexibly Accommodate The Building of A Custom System
REC OUT Selector for Flexible Enjoyment of Music Background recording, such as from a CD to an MD while listening to the radio, is possible with the PMA-655Rs REC OUT Selector. Monitoring is also possible with any deck containing 3 heads.
PRE OUT Terminals for Future System Expansion The PMA-655R is equipped with PRE OUT terminals that permit a variety of possibilities for future system expansion, such as using the integrated amp as a power amp with high output power, or adding a super woofer.

AM/FM Stereo Tuner
TU-255
Versatile Tuner with Radio Data System
The TU-255 is an AM/FM Stereo Tuner that gives you superior reception sensitivity and high-quality sound in the affordable price range. The audio performance of the TU-255 rivals that of high-end models due to the newly-developed front end and MPX filter, and an improved design for the audio circuit board. For greater operating ease, the TU-255 provides a rotary knob for Tuning and Search operations instead of the conventional up/down push button. The TU-255 exudes the same elegance and design as the PMA-655R, DCD-755AR/655 and DRW-585, allowing you to assemble a tasteful, high-quality system for your listening space.
*Black version is available.
s High Performance Front End In order to faithfully receive the radio waves transmitted from the broadcast station, and also to ensure that no high-frequency noise enters the audio circuitry, the TU-255 is equipped with a high performance Front End that suppresses interference among the various blocks inside the tuner. This design produces a clear, highly listenable sound with minimal noise. s MPX Filter The TU-255 includes a MPX filter that dramatically reduces pilot carrier leakage. This significantly improves the S/N ratio to levels normally found in high-end tuners. The circuit board has also been designed to achieve flat frequency response from as much as 20 Hz to 15 kHz, enabling faithful reproduction of the broadcast signal. s RDS (RDS-EON) Functions The TU-255 provides a rich variety of RDS (RDS-EON) functions and is equipped with a Radio Text function that takes maximum advantage of the various Radio Data System (RDS) services. The name of the musical selection currently being heard, messages, and any other text data that is broadcast by stations providing RDS services can be read on the tuner's display in up to thirteen characters at a time. s Rotary Knob Up/Down tuning and search operations have graduated from archaic push buttons to a single rotating knob that is much easier to operate. s Large, Easy-to-Read Display The large fluorescent display clearly shows the reception frequency and preset channel number, as well as other information. s AM/FM 40-Station Random Preset Memory The TU-255 offers random preset and recall of up 40 station. s High-class Aluminum Front Panel The TU-255s front panel is made of aluminum to impart an air of elegance to the unit. This attractive design blends in well with the interior of most listening rooms.
