KONTROLL AV HGTALARNAS FASNING
Du kan kontrollera hgtalarnas fasning (polaritet) med hjlp av ett vanligt 1,5 volts ficklampsbatteri. (OBS! ej diskanterna.) Anslut en kabel frn batteriets plus-pol till hgtalarens d:o och en kabel frn batteriets minus-pol till hgtalarens minus. Om du kopplat hgtalarna rtt skall konen nu rra sig t samma hll (normalt utt) p bde hger och vnster kanal. Denna kontroll gr du p kablarna som ansluts till hgtalarutgngarna p bilstereon eller slutsteget.

Thank you for buying Magnesium 2-way system. This instruction will help you to do a correct installation. If you want to get the best possible sound from your speakers we advice you to read and follow this instruction. If possible mount the speakers in a baffle of MDF-board or similar to avoid rattling. For best result use high quality speaker cables, minimum 1,5 mm2. For example the DLS SC 2 x 1,5.

MOUNTING:

Mount the speakers in the door or in the dashboard of your car. Normally they will fit in the cars original mounting hole. If possible reinforce with a baffle of MDF-board or similar. An installation high up on the door side is to be prefered. An alternative installation is in so called kick panels down on each side of the floor with the speakers facing up- and inwards towards the listener. An installation of the tweeter close to the bass/mid element is to be prefered. The tweeter can also be installed on the dash-board, or recessed in the door with the accessories in the tweeter box. It is important to fasten the speakers properly in order to avoid bad sound and rattling. The filters included with the speakers must also be fastened properly to avoid rattling. Dont place them close to the cars internal wiring, this can cause interference. Make sure the cables dont get jammed causing a short circuit to ground. This can damage the amplifier circuits. The speaker grilles are mounted in the plastic speaker frame by wiyhout the use of any compound. The sealing strip coming with the kit can be used for improved sealing between the bass element and the mounting surface. The tweeter installation is described in the instruction sheet coming with the tweeters. IMPORTANT! The speaker cone is made of magnesium, a material of low weight with excellent acoustic qualitys. We recommende you to NEVER touch the cone body with you fingers Remaining deformation of the cone body will occour if you push it with your fingers.

Speaker connection and tweeter level select:
The filters coming with the system must be connected with the respective speaker element as in the drawing. Select tweeter level by moving the jumper inside the filter box between high / low. Make your own tests for best result. Sometimes the midrange can be improved by phase reversing the tweeter. Try it and judge yourself.
NOTE! The filters must be used. If the tweeters are connected without filter they will be damaged and the sound reproduction becomes bad.

BUILDING BOXES

If you want to build a box for your bass/mid speakers, a sealed type is to be prefered. The box volume can vary depending on how much bass you want from your speakers. For fullrange use of the speakers, follow the recommended box volume in the table. If you want to limit the bass reproduction at for ex. 100 Hz, divide these volumes by half.

SPEAKER PHASING

To be sure to have the correct speaker polarity (phase) you can check this by using a 1,5 Volt battery. (Not on the tweeter). Connect a cable from the battery plus(+) to the speaker plus, and a cable from the battery minus (-) to the speaker minus. If the speakers are correctly connected the speaker cone should move outwards on both right and left channel. This check must be made on the cables going from the speakers, to the output terminals of your car stereo or amplifier.

DLS MS6 The brand-new DLS MS6 has just arrived at the editorial office. The nickname Magnesium Series immediately lets the cat out of the bag. The 16cm woofer-midrange speaker is equipped with an extremely stiff metal membrane made of magnesium. As if that were not enough, the Swedish manufacturer has also bent over the edge of the membrane, making the structure even more stable. This splendid product is sealed with a soft plastic dust cap, which probably damps the membrane a little. The drive is provided by a generously dimensioned 38mm oscillation coil combined with a very thick magnet. The DIN basket is the only one in the test that is 'just' made of steel plate, though from thick material. Like the whole chassis, it is very neatly made and adhered. The tweeter radiates sound from a 28mm membrane, and typically for DLS there is a special feature. Although it does not have volume coupling, there is a cushioned drill hole on the back. This has a similar effect, namely very low resonance and usability. The emphasis is on class rather than mass, through for both chassis there is a 12dB filter and tweeter reduction. Sound In the listening test the MS6 displays great class. It lets fly courageously and with great enjoyment in doing its work. Percussion is realistically and very dynamically reproduced. The bass drum comes over with a deep, extremely precise, boom-free but full sound. The set stretches the skins and reproduces all the drum sounds properly. A great spatial impression is delivered effortlessly. Even the double bass and the piano attacks do not overexert the system it creaks and sparkles with great detail and authentically. In general the tweeter delivers a first-class performance. It makes a good sound, though the hyperanalytical may perhaps miss a crisp edge. But the set always makes music without giving voices any secondary colouring. Overall, you can but raise your hat to this product, particularly since the MS6 rarely runs out of breath. The finest components are used in the DLS: a splendid foil coil for the low range and a fine MxP cap for the high range. Conclusion Whilst the AD has a warm, pleasant sound, the Focal is at the other end of the range it is traditional and on the analytical side, and it spoils you with a detailed performance. The DLS, Ground Zero and Radical Audio systems react equally transparently and delicately. As far as bass performance is concerned, Exact and above all Kicker represent a slim, athletic low range. The CZ 16cm is the king of the low bass register and level. In the test, anyone who wants to drive without a sub-woofer is very well served with this real bass hammer. With regard to timbre and tonality, no-one comes close to the test winner, the Radical; the way the RA16.2 handles music is very inspiring. This is not least thanks to the wonderful tweeter, which is the only one with volume coupling. But the DLS tweeter with a drill hole on the back offers something very similar. Overall, DLS's MS6 is the secret winner. This brand-new set with its magnesium tweeter creates an excellent sound, and for the lowest price in the test. So it gets a special recommendation.
