GRANDE DORO

VERY HIGH YIELD POTENTIAL STANDS STRONG UNIFORM
Grande Doro is a strong standing, medium maturity, high gluten strength, high test weight durum. It was developed for the central and eastern durum growing areas of North Dakota. Grande Doro is resistant to leaf and stem rust, moderately resistant to moderately susceptible to foliar disease (tan spot and Septoria), and susceptible to Fusarium head blight (scab). Grande Doro has responded extremely well to intensive management in scab impacted areas, achieving exceptional yields of quality grain in such areas.

MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

1. Plant Grande Doro in a normal timely fashion. 2. Plant at normal rates for your area or slightly higher. 3. To maximize economic yields, apply adequate levels of nutrients based on soil fertility and yield goal recommendations. A yield of 80 bu is a good target for Grande Doro. Make sure sulfur levels are in balance with nitrogen; 5N:1S in the soil and 10N:1S in plant tissue is recommended for protein quality and plant health. 4. All durum is especially sensitive to Fusarium head blight. Where scab is a problem, fungicide should be applied at the 4-5 leaf stage and at flowering. Early scab suppression is important in durum. 5. Timely harvest is essential to preserve seed quality.
