Mar 10, Lonely Planet staff, Caption for image number 3 is incorrect. It should be Viljandi, not Vilsandi. May 10, Dean Meservy, Tallinn: "Dome Church. the nickname is a corruption of the Estonian word toom. meaning cathedral" There is no "Dome Church" in Tallinn -- not as a name, not as a nickname -- any more than English-speakers call their cell phones "handys," as many Germans believe. There are only a handful of bad translations that westerners have seized upon. Toom (or toomkirik) is, quite simply, the Estonian word for "cathedral." That's it. Full stop. The information posted on the church itself, in English, uses only the term Lutheran Cathedral. May 10, Dean Meservy, Tallinn: Admission to KUMU is now 85 kroons. Jul 10, Pierre Gaspart, Bus 21 is starting from the train station and NOT from the town bus terminal (Viru Keskus). May 10, Dean Meservy, Tallinn: "Viru Keskus. opened in 2006." I knew that couldn't be right, because I've been shopping there longer than that. The Viru Center actually opened in 2004. Jun 09 Tallinn: Hostel Alur does not exist any more. Aug 09, ERICA ENWALL, Haapsalu: I went there in July this summer, and I wanted to visit the Haapsalu Kuursaal and eat lunch there, but it had closed down due to work on the beach. They were building a new promenade (or what you would call it in English) along the shore. I suppose it will open again when the promenade is ready. Freedom Monument. Sadly it doesn't seem to be guarded anymore; and therefore there is no changing of the guard. We were very bummed about that, we'd been looking forward to it. Oct 09 Riga: no photography allowed inside the Russian Orthodox Church Oct 09 Riga: We had great difficulty finding the bus stop number one to take us to the Ethnographic Open Air Museum. The stop isnt actually on Merkela street. Its 50 yards before the end of the street and the turning into Terbatus iela, immediately opposite the Microsoft building with Vermans Darzs behind you. Buses go every 20 minutes and cost 0.50 Lat for the 8km ride. Its easy to see when youre getting near the stop you need as many of the buildings are numbered along the extremely long Brivibasgatve. The bus stop for the Museum is just AFTER the lake. Its a short walk from the bus stop when you arrive costs 2 Lat entry and dont forget the vital 20 cents for a map of the huge place. We spent under 3 hours and didnt do it justice but did get a very good flavour of the place. It took 30 minutes to get there mid afternoon and 45 minutes to do the return journey. The Museum closes at 5. We left at and caught the 4.58 bus on the opposite side of the busy dual carriageway. There is a pedestrian operated set of lights to let you cross. Sep 09, DIONISIA TZOVANDAROPOULOU, Riga: Restaurant Light has closed Sep 09, DIONISIA TZOVANDAROPOULOU, Riga: Restaurant Hospitalis has changed address. It moved in the old town. The new address is Tirgonu Str. 4 Riga LV 1050 Oct 09 Riga: we rode the lift to the 26th floor of the Reval Hotel but the Skyline bar is only open from 4 pm until 1 am. Not only do you get good views of the city but also of the garden representing Europe planted in flowers of different colours in front of it.

Oct 09 Riga: Evening Cathedral concert tickets were 5Lat for the side, 7 for the centre and 10 for seats in front of the nave but as your back is turned to the organ it didnt seem a good deal to sit right at the front. The organ was being renovated but the sound wasnt affected. Entry to the cathedral is 2 Lat during the daytime. There are also lunchtime recitals on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Wonderful sound and well worth going to a concert. It is now located right inside the pink new castle where Cesis History and Art Museum is housed. Oct 09 Klaipeda: The bus station was being rebuilt so bus number 5 to Riga had to be caught in a side street. 60 Lt for the 5 hour journey. This temporary station is called Kanus1. Jul 10, Andreas Stueckjuergen, concerning "Getting around" by boat and ferry: the ferry link between Ventspils, Latvia, and Montu, Estonia, has been closed down. There is no possibility to get from Saaremaa directly to Lithuania by ferry.
