First things first organizing your tools and other DIY supplies in your garage or workshop will speed up all future projects since youll know exactly where all of your supplies are when youre ready to begin. Hanging tools, such as a set of screwdrivers, on a pegboard allows you to easily see and grab just what you need. Its a quick fix project using a Dremel rotary tool that will save time in the long run. STEP ONE: Cut pegboard to the correct size using a Dremel rotary tool, such as the Dremel 4000 Rotary Tool, 670 Mini Saw Attachment and 546 Rip/Crosscut Blade. First, mark the area you wish to cut and clamp the pegboard to a secure surface. Move the tool in the direction of the arrow on the side of the attachment at a moderate speed rate. STEP TWO: Pegboard hooks require a gap between the pegboard and the wall so add spacers around the perimeter of the pegboard for this purpose. Use hardware appropriate for your wall surface when hanging the board on your wall.

Its amazing how quickly a home can go from clean to cluttered, leaving you feeling unorganized and out-of-sorts. One of the easiest ways to make clutter disappear from out in the open and create harmony is to store and organize necessities behind closet doors. Create more storage inside your closet by installing shelves. STEP ONE: Coated wire shelving can be easily custom-fit to your exact closet dimensions. Begin by measuring the width of your closet space, and mark the measurement directly onto the shelf. Secure the shelf to prevent movement and use a Dremel 4000 Rotary Tool with a Cut-Off Wheel, such as the EZ456 EZ-Lock Cut-Off Wheel and EZ402 EZ-Lock Mandrel, to make your cuts. A 575 Right Angle Attachment will give you a handy angle for cutting. Bathrooms tend to look worn and dated faster than other areas of your home simply because theyre one of the most trafficked areas and an easy target for dirt and stains. Removing and replacing tile grout, typically as a result of mold accumulation, is a small repair project that pays big dividends in appearance. You cant avoid it, so instead of hiring a contractor or fighting with a hand tool to scrape grout out, invest in a Dremel oscillating or rotary tool to grind away grout in a matter of minutes. STEP ONE: Remove existing grout material. For larger or more sustained projects, try the Dremel Multi-Max Oscillating Tool System with an MM500 or MM501 Grout Removal Blade. For smaller or more detailed projects, a Dremel 4000 Rotary Tool equipped with the 568 Grout Removal Attachment and 569 Carbide Grout Removal Bit is a good solution. After securing the attachment to the tool, guide the blade or bit into the grout and keep at a right angle so as to not nick the tile. In a smooth, even motion, make passes between tiles to remove the grout. STEP TWO: Next, thoroughly clean the areas where the existing grout was removed before adding the new grout between tiles according to manufacturer directions.

Having an up-to-date toilet fixture will not only give your bathroom a more warm and welcoming appearance, but could cut dollars from your monthly bill if you opt for high-efficiency varieties. Installing a new toilet is a fairly simple procedure, especially if you use a Dremel rotary tool to cut rusty bolts in seconds, instead of struggling with a saw or wrench. Not only do you spend tons of time in your kitchen, but guests love to gravitate toward the food, drink and activity often plentiful in the room during gettogethers. A small fix, such as removing mineral and lime buildup from your sinks faucet and handles, will restore the fixture to a sparkling state and give the overall area a more polished, updated look. STEP ONE: Youll need a Dremel 4000 Rotary Tool, 403 Bristle Brush and 520 Polishing Wheel. First, attach the bristle brush and set the tool speed to 15,000 rpm or slower. While the tool is running, run it over areas where the buildup is heaviest. Be sure not to press too hard. STEP TWO: When most of the debris is removed, attach the polishing wheel to clean the rest of the faucet or handle. This technique is recommended for solid brass or brushed nickel surfaces, and should not be used on plated surfaces, such as chrome.

KEEP TILES IN TIP-TOP SHAPE
At some point, every homeowner encounters a broken square of tile in the kitchen counter, backsplash or floor that makes the entire room appear run down. You wouldnt hire a landscaper to cut one small square of lawn, so why hire a contractor to repair one unsightly broken tile? The Dremel Multi-Maxs versatile nature allows you to complete all steps required in this project with just one tool and no contractors bill to keep your tiles in tip-top shape. STEP ONE: First, cut away grout surrounding the broken tile with the MM500 or MM501 Grout Removal Blade, using a higher speed setting for harder grout material. Then, pry up the broken tile using a chisel if necessary. STEP TWO: Next, attach the 24-Grit MM920 Carbide Rasp to the tool and use it to grind away thin-set mortar left behind in the opening. This will allow the new tile to sit flush with surrounding tiles. Brush away debris and clean the area thoroughly before setting the new tile.

UPDATE YOUR KITCHEN WITH A SIMPLE REFINISHING PROJECT
A modern, updated kitchen tops the wish list of a majority of homeowners. Yet, many people shy away from updating their kitchens because of the cost and legwork involved. However, with just one tool, some paint and a little bit of elbow grease, you can create the effect of a brand new kitchen by refinishing your existing cabinets one of the most visible components in your kitchen. Tackle each step in 30-minute segments to make the project more manageable. STEP ONE: Detach all of the drawers and store them in a clean, dry place. Inspect the cabinets for any damage, and repair as needed. Then, wash cabinets to remove any dirt that has accumulated over time.
STEP TWO: In order to make the next step sanding as effortless as possible, use the Dremel Multi-Max with the MM11 Sanding Pad and MM70W Wood Sandpaper Assortment. While sanding on medium speed, keep the sanding pad flat to the wood. Always move the pad in the direction of the grain. Finally, paint or stain the cabinets as desired.

REMOVE OLD FLOORING WITHOUT AN ADHESIVE NIGHTMARE
Flooring wears out, and when it does, it can leave an entire room looking dated. But just the thought of removing sticky vinyl tiles or pulling up foam backed carpet, then picking at small pieces stuck to the subflooring for hours, is enough to make many people ignore the much-needed home repair. However, the Dremel Multi-Max eliminates the need to spend hours scraping tile adhesive or carpet pad off the floor and makes the project much more manageable. Before you know it, youll be ready to install new flooring or refurbish the hardwood floor you just uncovered. STEP ONE: Use the Dremel Multi-Max Oscillating Tool with an MM600 Rigid Scraper Blade to quickly and easily cut through the sticky adhesive holding carpet padding or vinyl tiles down. Apply petroleum jelly or silicon grease to the scraper blade if youre removing strong, tacky adhesive to keep it from gumming up the scraper blade. If youre removing carpeting, score it first with a utility knife to create a seam that will allow you to roll it up and remove it in manageable sections after it has been separated from the subfloor. STEP TWO: With the tool running at a medium speed, insert the blade under a tile or seam to pry the flooring up from the subfloor and cut through the adhesive.

GRIND RUST DOWN BEFORE IT GETS YOU DOWN
Many people complain that rust removal is one of their biggest home maintenance challenges. It seems to appear from nowhere, and before you know it, your iron patio furniture, mailbox, stair railing or light post looks tattered and tarnished. Instead of mixing a messy liquid solution to remove rust, use a Dremel rotary tool to quickly and easily grind rust away, and ready the area for repainting. STEP ONE: With the help of the 500 Aluminum Oxide Abrasive Wheel and Dremel 4000 Rotary Tool, removing rust is a cinch. The 36-grit EZ471SA Detail Abrasive Brush can also be used for detail work. Run the tool at medium to high speed, and begin working away the rust by making even passes over the fixture. Be sure to use the proper amount of pressure to remove only the rust and not the material beneath it. Practicing on an inconspicuous area of the material first is always a good idea. STEP TWO: After rust is removed, its a good idea to coat the fixture with a rust inhibitor and paint to keep rust from forming again.

One of the most desired home updates is the addition of a new appliance or outdoor light fixture. But installing some appliances, such as dryers and surfacemounted exterior lighting, require making a clean accurate cut in vinyl siding for outdoor connections and fixtures. Although it might sound intimidating, its actually easy to accomplish with a Dremel rotary tool and circle cutting guide. STEP ONE: For this project, youll need a Dremel 4000 Rotary Tool, 678-01 Circle Cutting Guide and 561 Multipurpose Cutting Bit. Begin by setting your circle cutting guide to the desired depth and diameter. Then, make a pilot hole in the siding to set the circle cutting guides center point. At a 45-degree angle, plunge the center point and bit into the siding at the same time, then bring the tool upright so it rests on the guide for the remainder of the cut. STEP TWO: In a clockwise motion, with light pressure, work the tool around the pivot point. Its important that the depth of the guide supports the cutting bit extending beyond the material by -inch. When the siding has been cut out, remove the other layers of exterior wall material as necessary for insertion of the pipe, dryer vent or lighting fixture.
