Select a location on your computer for downloading the update file. You can create a new folder if you wish (i.e. c:\DYMOFILE). 2. Download the DLS 7 file to the folder you have chosen. 3. Locate the Win_DLS75.exe file and double-click it. Follow the on-screen instructions. Special Instructions and Important Notes This version of software does not support Windows 95 or NT. If you are running either of these operating systems, please return to the Drivers and Downloads page and select DYMO Software Application version 4.2.1 for Windows 95 and NT ONLY. DLS 7 does not include drivers for XL and EL series printers. For all XL and EL series printers, please return to the Drivers and Downloads page and select DYMO Software Application version 6.1.1 for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. This software supports all 300 and 400 series printers through direct serial or USB connectivity. The use of serial to USB adapters is no longer supported.
Upgrading from a previous installation of DLS It is recommended that you back up the following folders before upgrading to DLS 7: C:\Program Files\DYMO Label\Address Books C:\Program Files\DYMO Label\Label Files Do not uninstall your previous installation of DLS. Simply running the DLS 7 installer will update all necessary files. All existing Label Template files, Address Book files, and Clip Art files will be copied and saved into: Windows 2000/XP C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\DYMO Label Windows 98/ME C:\WINDOWS\All Users\Documents\DYMO Label Installing DLS7 and a LW 400 on a workstation with previous LW installations The LabelWriter 400 (LW 400) series of printers requires the installation of DLS 7. Workstations that previously had or currently have a LabelWriter XL, EL, or 300 series printer installed may require that you uninstall these printer drivers prior to installing a LW 400 series printer. Youll have to uninstall any previously installed LabelWriter printer drivers if: An EL or XL series printer has been previously installed or is currently installed A serial connected LabelWriter has been previously installed or is currently installed A networked LabelWriter has been previously installed or is currently installed Note: Windows 98/ME users are not required to uninstall any existing LabelWriter printer drivers. Simply install DLS 7. Uninstalling previously-installed LabelWriter printer drivers (For Windows 2000/XP ONLY) Note: Do not uninstall your previous installation of DLS. Doing so will not uninstall the the LabelWriter printer drivers. 1. Go into the Printers folder Delete any print jobs that may be present for any Dymo LabelWriter. Delete any networked Costar/DYMO printers. 2. When DLS was initially installed, a sub folder called Support Files was created in the DYMO Label folder. In this folder is a file called LWRemove.exe (it has a trash can icon next to it). Turn off the LabelWriter and run this file by double-clicking on it. (Note: If the LWRemove.exe utility is not present on your system you can download it from the following web address: http://www.dymo.com/media/Software/LWRemove.zip) No matter what shows in the box, hit the Select All button and then Remove. Once this is done you will need to close this utility and restart your computer. 3. Upon rebooting, install DLS 7 and follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted to plug in your USB LabelWriter printer(s), connect the LW 400 first. 4. Once the DLS installer has completed, plug in any other USB-connected LabelWriter printers and the new drivers will install automatically. Note: Serial-connected LabelWriters and networked Dymo LabelWriter printers will have to be installed manually from the Add Printer Wizard located in your Printers folder.
