Xpressive 1 Software Information/Upgrade Procedure: Xpressive I software will not work on Windows XP or higher systems. Xpressive I software owners may upgrade to the Xpressive II software for a special upgrade price. Dealer Cost on the Xpressive II Upgrade (only) is $330.00 and Elnas MSRP price is $379.00. Upgrade requests from the must be sent to Melissa Martin at: mmartin@elna-usa.com If a consumer has contacted technical support for the upgrade, technical support will email Melissa and include the information on the closest Elna dealer to the consumer. Elna does not sell directly to a consumer except in extreme cases. Melissa Martin will make arrangements with the dealer so that they may purchase the upgrade Xpressive II package for the customer. Before an upgrade Xpressive II software package can be released to the dealer, Xpressive I software must be shipped back to the office to Melissa Martins attention. Original Xpressive I items that need to be returned to Melissa include: Security Device (dongle) Must be returned Installation CD (when possible) Original packaging and documentation (when possible) Packages should be sent back through UPS or FedEx and properly insured at the consumers or dealers expense. Elna will not credit the cost of shipping and Elna is not responsible packages lost in shipping. Xpressive II software will not be shipped until original Xpressive I items have been received at the Elna, Inc. office. In the event that the dealer is located a distance of 75 miles or more from the consumer, Elna can ship the item directly to the consumer to avoid delays and bill the dealer for the shipping. Xpressive and Xquisit Support Information
Technical Support Information: Xpressive II Software Xpressive II Software Information: Xpressive II software will work on Windows XP and Vista Systems. One Xpressive II software activation allows for two software installations. The original installation is only a trail installation good for 30 days. The Xpressive II software needs to be activated using the internet or mail.
Activation Problems for Xpressive II Software: If your Xpressive II customer has recently reformatted their computer hard drive, replaced the computer hard drive or purchased a new computer system, a new Site Key may need to be received activate their Xpressive II software. Please contact Elna Customer Support to obtain this Site key and activate the software. 30Day Trail or Improperly Functioning Xpressive II Software: If your customers Xpressive II software will not function properly, please check that the activation for the software has been performed properly.
Software Activation Instructions for Xpressive II software: 1. 2. Locate the Help menu option. Select the Open License Activator from the drop-down menu.
3. When the Xpressive License Activator opens, select the Install a License option. Click on next to move to the next step.
There is a serial number on the front of the Xpressive II software CD case. The customer will need this number to request activation through the internet. If an internet connection is not available, there is an alternate way to register and obtain this activation for their software. Please select that option and follow the prompts and instructions.
Click on Next to begin activation and the software is registered. The 30-day trial mode will be disabled and the Xpressive II software will function properly.
Transferring the Xpressive II License: 1. 2. 3. 4. In the Site Key field, enter the site key you were given for your computer or click Browse and find the location of the site key. Click Next to continue. You will see another Xpressive License Activator wizard page appear. Click Next to continue. You will see another License Activator wizard page appear. Click Finish to complete your installation.
Transferring a License from a Second Computer: If you are running an installation of Xpressive on your computer, without a license, you can transfer an existing license from a second computer. 1. 2. You can copy an Xpressive license onto a floppy disk, USB device or network directory folder. Only the Xpressive installation with a license can run the software.
To transfer a license to a floppy disk:1 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. On the computer without a license, open Xpressive. You will see the Xpressive License Activator wizard appear. Select the Install a license option and click Next. You will see another Xpressive License Activator wizard page appear. If you are using the 30-day trial, it is considered a temporary license. The first time you open Xpressive you will see the License Agreement dialog.

Using a PC Card Adapter to transfer designs to your Elna 8600 and 8200

PC Card Adapter

This PC Card Adapter plus a SmartMedia card and your computer allow you to transfer designs to and from your Elna 8600 and 8200. You can use either the copy and paste method or Xpressive software. The adapter and card fit into the slot on your Elna 8600 or 8200. The adapter and card can be inserted into your computer or you might need to attach a USB Reader/Writer to access the SmartMedia card.
Transferring.jef format designs using the copy and paste function without using Xpressive or any other embroidery software. The card must be formatted before transferring a design: - Insert the PC Card Adapter and card into your Elna 8600 or 8200. - Turn on the machine. Touch SET (8200 select Mode first) and Page Backward. Touch YES to format ATA PC card. Touch Return to exit. NOTE: Do not turn off the machine or remove the card while the card is formatting. - Remove PC Card Adapter and card from machine. Insert PC Card Adapter and card in your computer or insert card in USB Reader/Writer and attach to computer. Select a design in.jef format (from the internet, from Elna's design CD-rom, etc.) Copy.jef file. Access drive for adapter. Paste.jef file into EmbF5 folder. (The Ord#5 folder is for ordinary or traditional sewing memory.)
Transferring a design from Xpressive to the card. NOTE: There's no need to format the card. Open Xpressive and open a design in any format. Insert the PC Card Adapter and card into the computer or insert card in USB Reader/Writer and attach to computer. Click File. Click PCMCIA Memory Card. Click Output the PCMCIA Memory Card Output window will appear. Be sure correct drive is selected and assign a design name. Click Save. The file will automatically be saved in.jef format. Your PC Card Adapter and card are now ready to be inserted in your 8600 or 8200.
Transferring a design from the 8600 or 8200 onto the card to the computer to edit in Xpressive. NOTE: There's no need to format the card. On the 8600 or 8200, touch Edit. Touch OK. Select a design. Insert your PC Card Adapter and card into the 8600 or 8200. Touch Save File. Touch Built-in/Card to open Save File (Card) window. Change file name if desired. Touch OK. Insert PC Card Adapter and card in your computer or insert card in USB Reader/Writer and attach to computer. Open Xpressive. Click File. Click PCMCIA Memory Card. Click Input the PCMCIA Memory Card Input window will appear. Be sure correct drive is selected and select a design. Click Open.
