1.1 PRE-SESSION MEETINGS

A pre-session meeting is either a face-to-face meeting with new clients and existing clients or a phone meeting to discuss the tangible and intangible details of each project. For New Artists Obtain clear and distinct vision and direction for the project session. Discuss past studio experiences in order to avoid past challenges and maintain successes. Discover the musical strengths and weaknesses of the artist. Discover the artists creative process. Define a road map for the project from conception to delivery, session by session. List the agenda details for each session so that time is maximized and not wasted.
For Existing Artists Obtain clear and distinct vision and direction for the project session. Define a road map for the project from conception to delivery, session by session. List the agenda details for each session so that time is maximized and not wasted.

1.2 SESSION PREPARATION

Preparation is essential to having a smooth session and maximizing the time you are investing into your project. Here are some tips for session efficiency. Show up to your session(s) on time. Arrive 30 minutes before the session starts to load music into computer, pray, get comfortable, or whatever else you would like to do before the session begins. Show up to the session well rested. Know the songs you are going to record and in what order. Make sure your CD is working before you arrive. If possible have all music on one CD with the music in correct order. Memorize Lyrics. Have Written Lyrics (for the producer and for reference). Make sure youve rehearsed the material. Know your parts cold. Dress in comfortable and quiet clothes. Clothes that make noise every time you move can lead to a very frustrating experience when in front of a microphone. If possible bring a commercial CD with the sounds you are looking for. Have the arrangement of each song figured out. Know what instruments will play & what they will play. Have an idea of what keyboard/synth sounds you want to use. Consider having the producer already lay a basic drum track. If musicians are bringing instruments make sure they are in tip-top shape (e.g. strings, keys, quiet solid connections etc.). Food is allowed in the studio so feel free to bring snacks, but be aware that some foods and beverages can affect your voice and energy. Book extra time. Most people perform better when they're not racing against the clock. To make your session less stressful schedule more time than you actually need, but be prepared to work on something else if the extra time is needed.

1.3 HOUSE RULES

These apply to everyone in the studio during sessions. No smoking No drinking Alcoholic beverages No profanity Behave respectfully Hats must be removed

1.4 GUESTS

Due to limited space only three guests are allowed. Additional guests may be added at the engineers approval. Strongly encourage your guests to arrive on time. Guests must be supportive at all time. The producer has the right to dismiss the guest if a pattern of negative connotations arise. Moreover If the Client(s) or Guest(s) behave in a disorderly manner they will be asked to leave. If the Client(s) behaves disrespectfully he or she will be asked to leave and will still be responsible for paying for the session. The Client(s) is responsible for all damages made by their guest(s).
1.5 PRODUCER RESPONSIBLITIES
The producer is the director. All major decisions that impact the project from the musical side and the business side must be handled by the producer. The Producer is expected to: Oversee the creative direction of the project. Oversee the business aspects of the project. Function as an objective partner with the artist. Provide ongoing evaluation of the recorded performances. Handle all recorded material from first draft to final master. Bring out the best in the artist.

1.6 ENGINEER RESPONSIBLITIES
The Engineer is expected to: Have all outboard equipment setup properly prior to the clients arrival. This includes microphones, instruments and processing equipment. Operate equipment efficiently, taking as little time as possible to make adjustments and changes for the clients sake. Avoid distortion, inadequate noises and improper levels from affecting the recording(s). Provide resources (e.g. water etc.) to accommodate the artist(s).
* Please note the outcome of your session or song does not entirely depend on the engineer. In order to properly utilize your time in the studio please come prepared.

1.7 CONFIDENTIALITY

GCI dP believes in treating all of our Clients with equal respect no matter how well known they are. When you complete a project with GCI dP no one will hear it unless you release it. We may ask you for permission to use one of your projects as an example for new clients, or for promotion, but we will not allow anyone to hear your project without your written consent.
