TEMS Indoor is a powerful hand-held measurement tool that is designed to capture in-building measurements. Not all network data can be captured by drive tests. Many people use their mobile phones indoors and in pedestrian areas. Network performance in these areas is very important, and operators must have a way to capture that data. TEMS Indoor is the perfect solution. It features a lightweight, compact design which incorporates comprehensive data collection functionality. It provides a convenient and easy-to-use solution for isolating trouble spots indoors.

Completely portable

TEMS Indoor is perfectly suited for indoor use. Consisting of a Compaq iPaq handheld PDA, it is small and light enough to go anywhere a network can cover. It collects and presents data and comprehensive CDMA network statistics. It even stores data in TEMS logfile format.

Mapping data

Data collected with TEMS Indoor can be correlated to certain areas of an in-building environment. Bitmap and AutoCAD files showing maps of the area can be imported, or the user can create his or her own map of the area. These maps are displayed on the iPaqs screen while the tool is in use. As measurement data is received and call events occur, they are displayed as symbols on the map and stored as a TEMS logfile.

Graphical presentation

Data collected by TEMS Indoor can be viewed in a graphical format. The TxPower, TxAdjust, and RxPower are depicted as a real-time graph. Values for FER and SUM are presented as horizontal graphs.

Text views

TEMS Indoor is programmed with a number of text views that clearly present information to the user. These views include: Active set Candidate set Neighbor set Finger info Power group Server info System info Statistics Phone info

Real-time presentation

TEMS Indoor uses a pinpointing technique for indoor navigation that uses (x,y) coordinates related to the displayed BMP map. It provides four virtual views of the map image, allowing the user to easily toggle between the following measurements, each of which is depicted with a pre-defined symbol: TxPower, RxPower, Finger Ec/Io Sum, and FER. In addition, the user can create and define statistical polygons, toggle between different floors of a building, and view interpolated data between pinpointed input measurements. Handoff and Phone/Call events have audio alerts. Post-processing

Simple post-processing capabilities are included in the management application module. Summary and analysis can be performed by transferring data from the iPaq to a PC running the management application. The management application also provides the ability to print a summary report of a test session. More advanced analysis of the collected log files can be carried out with TEMS DeskCat, a powerful post-processing software tool.
Minimum hardware and software requirements
TEMS Indoor is designed specifically for the Compaq iPaq handheld running the Windows CE Operating System. The Desktop Management Application software is designed to run on desktop or laptop computers that are running Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, or Windows 2000.
