Bar/beat mode:

The bar/beat/clock information is created according to the internal tempo map. The ABS zero position is set to "bar -2/beat 1/clk 000" by default (this is called "bar offset"). The MR16 determines the bar/beat/clock value in a song in referenced to the bar offset, as well as the time signature map and tempo map. You can set the bar offset between bar 1 to bar -8 via the menu mode (see page 95). The figure below shows the relation between two time base modes.

Input monitor and repro monitor
Each of the MR16 tracks has two output modes: repro monitor and input monitor. In the repro monitor mode, the track playback signal is output. So if you want to listen to the track playback sound, select the repro monitor mode. In the input monitor mode, the input signal fed to the track is output. So you can check the level of the input signal to be recorded. To enter a MR16 track to input monitor mode, press the appropriate [REC SELECT] key to arm the track (i.e. make the track record-ready), then press only the [RECORD] key to enter the "RECORD READY" mode or press both the [RECORD] and [PLAY] keys simultaneously to start recording.

[TRIM] control

You must pay great attention to the [TRIM] control adjustment when recording to the MR16.

[TRIM] control PEAK LED

MIN MAX ROOM
The analog signal received at each input ([INPUT A] through [INPUT D]) is sent to the [TRIM] control, by which the signal level fed to the A/D converter of the MR16 is controlled. You can check this level by the PEAK indicator. If the level is too high, the PEAK indicator lights, while you may hear the sound distorted or noisy. This distortion (noise) generated at this stage cannot be eliminated, therefore, adjust the TRIM control properly so that the PEAK indicator does not light at the loudest part of the input signal.

Song status display

Lights up the following status icons when the appropriate modes (functions) are active. At least one of the tracks is in the input monitor mode (see pages 38, 40 and 42). The auto return mode is active (see page 49). The loop mode is active (see page 49). The auto play mode is active (see page 49).
The remain time shows how much time you can further record audio data onto a mono track using the available space left on the hard disk.
The +48V phantom power is being supplied (seepage 144).

Warning message

If a serious problem happens to the MR16 during operation, an appropriate warning message is shown on the display. Most warning messages are being shown until the [MENU/ENTER] knob is pressed. Note that there are also not-so-serious warning messages besides the following.

Rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select "Select Song ", and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display now shows the first page of the song selection screen. You can see the list of the song numbers/names on the hard disk. Currently, only the demo song is created, and "S01: FOSTEX_FEVER" and "---:(New Song)" are shown. "---:(New Song)" is used to create a new song.
<Note>: You may leave the default song
name as it is. Also, you can edit the song name after creating a song using the "Rename Song" menu item in the song menu of the menu mode (see page 115).
<How to enter characters>
<Character entry keys>
[REC SELECT] keys on the MR16 top panel act as character entry keys in the menu mode. For example, the [REC SELECT] key for track 1 (shown on the left) can be used for entering A, B, C, a, b, c and 1.
<Note>: If you want to cancel creating a song,
rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob to move the cursor to "[CANCEL]" and press the [MENU/ ENTER] knob.
While [ENTER] is flashing, press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display now shows the home screen of the newly created song (My_Song). As shown in the lower screen example, the song name (My_Song) and the song number (Song02) are shown.
<Character entry example>
The following procedure example shows how to enter "My_Song" as a song name.
1. Use the [M N O 5] key to enter "M". 2. Use the [Y Z 9] key to enter "y". 3. Use the [+ _ 0] key to enter "_". 4. Use the [S T U 7] key to enter "S". 5. Use the [M N O 5] key to enter "o". 6. Rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob to move the cursor right. 7. Use the [M N O 5] key to enter "n". 8. Use the [G H I 3] key to enter "g".
Now, in addition to the demo song, a new song on which no audio is recorded is created by the procedure above. It is a good idea to create more than one song before you start recording. After creating a song or songs for recording, connect the sound source to the MR16 (see the next page) and start recording.
<Notes on cursor movement>
Pressing a different character entry key automatically moves the cursor right. If two successive characters are assigned to the same character entry key, rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob after selecting the first character to move the cursor right.
After completing song name entry, press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The cursor moves to [ENTER] at the bottom of the screen.
<Note>: After creating a new song, by executing procedure steps 1 through 3, the following song selection screen appears. This screen is used for loading the desired song from the list, as well as creating a new song. For example, by rotating the [MENU/ENTER] knob to highlight S01: FOSTEX_FEVER and pressing the [MENU/ENTER] knob, you can load the demo song.

Time Base mode: Bar/Beat

In the screen example on the left, the time base mode is "BAR/BEAT" and the locate function by rotating the [MENU/ENTER] knob is executed with bar accuracy. For details about how to change the locate accuracy, see the next page.

Locating the desired bar

During recording process, it often happens that you want to locate the desired bar accurately. For example, let's assume that a vocalist and an operator are working together and they want to make punch-in recording from the beginning of the first bridge. In the typical process, the operator locates the position a few seconds before the first bridge using the [REWIND] or [F FWD] key, and then starts playback from the position and punches in at the beginning of the first bridge. In this manner, the vocalist does not know from where playback starts until it starts. Or he (she) may get lost and miss the punch-in point. If you use the direct locate function, this problem is solved. In the following procedure, it is assumed that the time base mode is set to "Bar/Beat".
Press the [DIRECT LOCATE] key to enter the direct locate mode. Rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob to set the locate point to the four bars before the first bridge.
You need to make a note of the bar number of each part.
Tell the vocalist that the playback starts from four bars before the bridge.
If necessary, you can make rehearsal (see page 58 for rehearsal).
Press the [STOP] key to exit the direct locate mode and start recording.
<Note>: By setting the locate accuracy to a smaller unit ("bar" or "clock"), you can locate the point more accurately.
Locating the desired time
If you know the time at the point you want to locate, the direct locate function allows you to locate the point accurately by specifying the time. For example, if you want to locate "12m 34s 540ms" accurately, follow the procedure below. In the following procedure, it is assumed that the time base mode is set to "ABS".
1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9)
Press the [DIRECT LOCATE] key to enter the direct locate mode. Rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob to set the "m" field to "12". Press the [MENU/ENTER] knob to change the locate accuracy unit to "s". Rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob to set the "s" field to "34". Press the [MENU/ENTER] knob to change the locate accuracy unit to "100ms". Rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob to set the "100ms" field to "5". Press the [MENU/ENTER] knob to change the locate accuracy unit to "10ms". Rotate the [MENU/ENTER] knob to set the "10ms" field to "40". Press the [STOP] key to exit the direct locate mode.

The recorder immediately locates to the punch-in point and stops.
When the recorder reaches at the point where you want to make punching out, press the [LOCATE B/OUT] key while holding down the [STORE] key.
The display briefly shows "Store LOCATE B" and the time data when you press the [LOCATE B/OUT] key is set as the punch-out point.
Press the [REWIND] key to move back the recorder and press the [STOP] key at the desired point.
<Hint>: The punch-in and punch-out points you set also can be used for the locate function, playback by the play mode and part editing (see pages 47 and 127).
Rehearsal for auto punch in/out
After setting the punch-in and punch-out points appropriately, you can rehearse the auto punch in/out for checking the punch-in and -out points or practicing punch-in and -out timing.

Using the insert effects for recording
The insert effects can be applied only to the Input A channel. The insert effects include the mic simulation and amplifier simulation effects, which simulate popular microphones and guitar amplifiers. Depending on the setting of the [INPUT A SEL] switch on the rear panel, the appropriate simulation effect (mic simulation or amplifier simulation) is applied. If you use the microphone simulation effect when you record an acoustic guitar through your microphone, you can make recording as if you are using a famous microphone. If you use the guitar amplifier simulation effect when you record an electric guitar directly connected to the MR16, you can make recording as if you are using a famous guitar amplifier. Note that you cannot get exactly the same sound as the original microphone/guitar amplifier by using simulation effects.
When the mic simulation effect is enabled, you can select the type from DYNAMICS, CONDENSER and TUBE. The key for the selected type is lit.

MR16 Owners Manual (Track bouncing)

Track bouncing

This chapter describes track bouncing which is an important function in the recording process. The track bouncing mixes several tracks and records onto other two tracks. By using this function, you can record more sound materials to the MR16 tracks. Five track bouncing modes are available: (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) Bouncing tracks 1 through 8 to tracks 9/10. Bouncing tracks 1 through 10 to tracks 11/12. Bouncing tracks 1 through 12 to tracks 13/14. Bouncing tracks 1 through 14 to tracks 15/16. Bouncing tracks 1 through 16 to tracks 15/16 of a new song.

Editing the bar offset

By default, the bar/beat value at the beginning (ABS ZERO) of the song is set to "bar -2/beat 1". This offset (the bar/beat value at ABS ZERO) is called "bar offset". You can change the default bar offset to the desired value.
On the second page of the song editing menu screen, highlight "Bar Offset" and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The current offset value (by default, "-2Bar") starts flashing.
You can see the bar offset value on the home screen when the recorder is at the beginning of the song (ABS 0). The screen example below shows the home screen when the bar offset is set to -4 bars.

Setting the tempo map

After setting the time signature map, you have to create the tempo map by adding the necessary tempo event(s). Like a time signature event, a tempo event specifies the tempo at the tempo changing point. Each tempo specified by a tempo event is effective until the next event appears. For example, you can set the tempo to 120 at the third beat in bar 4, and set to 90 at the second beat in bar 12, etc.

Using this method, you can also copy the hidden folder which includes hidden files "deleted" by the MR16 song management operation. Copied hidden files can be used as a normal song files by turning off the hidden attribute by the computer.
<Note>: If you cannot see the hidden folder, consult the manual of your personal

computer.

Importing data from a personal computer
When importing data from a personal computer to the MR16, there is the danger that the MR16 file system may be destroyed. Especially, deleting or adding files many times may cause the fragmentation of FAT32, resulting in sound jump caused by performance deterioration. Therefore, before loading data from a personal computer to the MR16, save all necessary folders to the personal computer and format the MR16 hard disk.

1) 2) 3) 4)

Format the MR16 internal hard disk (see page 140). Disable the disk protection (see page 110). Connect the MR16 to a personal computer via USB (see page 109). Copy the desired song folder on the personal computer to the root folder of the MR16 hard disk.
<Note>: Do not use "move" operation, as with saving data to a computer.
5) Repeat step 4) as many times as required.
<Note>: Usually, the song order follows the copied order. However, it may be different
depending on a computer OS.
After making copy of all necessary folders, exit the USB mode.
(3) Copy data to a CD-R/RW disc using the internal CD-R/RW drive.
As with (1), each track data is converted to a single mono WAV file. The data is compressed to a small size and saved to a CD-R/RW disc. See the supplementary manual "How to use the CD-R/RW drive" for details.
<Note>: The operation above can be done with the MR16 with the built-in CD-R/RW drive. You cannot do above with the MR16 without a CD-R/RW drive.

Troubles for effect

<Trouble 1>: I cannot apply the effects.
Are the [EFFECT SEND] control for the track you want to apply the effect and track fader raised appropriately?
Raise the [EFFECT SEND] control(s) for the track(s) (1 through 4) you want to apply the effect to send signal(s) to the internal digital effects. Also, make sure that the fader(s) for the track(s) you want to apply the effect is(are) raised.
<Trouble 2>: I cannot apply the mic simulation effects.
Is the [INPUT A SELECT] switch on the rear panel is set to "MIC/LINE" position?
To apply the mic simulation effects to [INPUT A], the [INPUT A SELECT] switch on the rear panel must be set to "MIC/LINE" position. When you set the switch to any other position, you can use the amp simulation effects for insert effects.
Troubles for USB connection
<Trouble 1>: Cannot export a WAV file to a personal computer.
Is the USB cable connected correctly? Check the connection, as well as the USB cable. Is the personal computer meets the requirement? The MR16 can export a WAV file to a personal computer which runs on any of the following OS systems. Windows Me, 2000 or XP Macintosh 0S X or higher
<Trouble 2>: The MR16 drive icon is not shown on the personal computer screen.
It may take some times for showing a removable drive depending on a personal computer. It may take some times for reading the drive data. Wait for a while until the drive icon appears. On a Windows machine, the MR16 is shown as "removable drive". On a Macintosh machine, it is shown as "MR16".

Other troubles

<Trouble 1>: I cannot hear the rhythm guide click.
Is the [RHYTHM GUIDE] key is illuminated? When the [RHYTHM GUIDE] key is not illuminated, the rhythm guide function is not active and you cannot hear the rhythm guide click. Is the "Int Click level" item in the "Rhythm Guide" menu set correctly? If the "Int Click level" item is set to "00" or a small value, you cannot hear the rhythm guide click.
<Trouble 2> : I want to hear the rhythm guide click based on the "Signature" and "Tempo" settings on the rhythm guide setting screen but the rhythm guide click based on the conductor map is output.
Is the "Conductor Map" setting on the rhythm guide setting screen set to "On"? As shown on the screen below, if "Conductor Map" on the rhythm guide setting screen is set to "On", the rhythm guide click based on the conductor map is output. In this condition, the "Signature" and "Tempo" fields on this screen indicate "- - -" as below, showing that they are disabled.

MR16 Supplementary manual
(for the MR16 without a CD-R/RW drive)
How to use the CD-R/RW drive
This supplementary manual describes how to create an audio CD (CD-DA) by connecting an external CD-R/RW drive to the [USB HOST] port on the rear panel. Read this supplementary together with the main manual before you attempt to create an audio CD using an external CD-R/RW drive.
Important! CD-R/RW drives which can be connected to the MR16
You can connect the MR16 [USB HOST] port to any CD-R/RW drive which has a [USB] port and can be powered by AC main or batteries. The MR16 does not provide USB bus power facility (which allows supplying power to an external device from the unit), therefore, you cannot connect a CD-R/RW drive which only can be powered by USB connection. Also note that the models which can be used with the MR16 may change. Check the update information of the currently available CD-R/RW drives from Fostex website (http:// www.fostex.com) before purchasing a drive unit.

CD-DA: It stands for "Compact Disc-Digital Audio" and is the formal name of audio CD. The format is specified in the "Red Book". An audio signal is converted to PCM-coded stereo digital data with 44.1kHz sampling frequency and 16-bit quantization.

Please read before using

Before using an external CD-R/RW drive, read the following.

Usable discs

Only discs with any of the following logos can be used with an external CD-R/RW drive connected to the MR16 [USB HOST] port.

<CD-R disc>

Recordable
You can make additional recording to a CD-R disc until it is finalized if it is brand new and still has enough recordable area (additional recording is possible only in the "Track at once" mode).

<CD-RW disc>

ReWritable
You can make additional recording to a CD-RW disc until it is finalized if it is brand new and still has enough recordable area (additional recording is possible only in the "Track at once" mode).

<CD disc>

You can view TOC information of a disc with this logo (such as a commercially available CD) but you cannot make recording.
<Note>: Using an external CD-R/RW drive connected to the MR16 [USB HOST] port, you cannot
play back CD-DA discs you created (or commercially available audio CDs).
Handling of CD-R/RW discs
Handle a disc with care by holding them by the rim or by a finger through the center hole, rather than touching the surface. Do not get fingerprints, dust, scratch, etc. on the signal side. Do not affix any labels or stickers to the label side of the disc. Do not make a scratch on the label side. A scratch may make recording or playback impossible. Do not write on the label side of a disc with a hard pen such as a ballpoint pen and a pencil. Only use a soft pen. Do not use a curved or cracked disc, which may cause malfunction of the drive. If dust or fingerprint is attached to the signal side, wipe the disc gently with a soft dry cloth or a cloth with ethyl alcohol from the center towards the outside edge. Do not wipe it from the outside towards the center.
Track data which can be recorded to a CD-R/RW disc
You can record a stereo WAV file converted from two mono files on tracks 15 and 16 (final mixed-down files) to a CD-R/RW disc in the CD-DA format. Mixed-down files on tracks 15 and 16 can be created by in either of the following track bouncing methods. (1) Bouncing tracks 1 through 14 to tracks 15/16 of the same song. (2) Bouncing tracks 1 through 16 to tracks 15/16 of the new song. See pages 75 through 88 of the MR16 owner's manual for details about track bouncing. See pages 104 through 106 of the MR16 owner's manual for details about how to convert files on tracks 15 and 16 to a stereo WAV file.

On the MR16, a stereo WAV file converted from track 15/16 data is stored to the "2 MIX" folder in the Song folder of the original song (see the illustration on the left). Also see page 108 of the MR16 owner's manual. When creating an audio CD using an external CD-R/RW drive, only stereo WAV files in the "2 MIX" folder can be burned to a CD-R/RW disc in the CD-DA format. Therefore, you must load the song in which one or more desired stereo WAV files are stored. Before creating an audio CD, read the <Note> on the next page.
#####001.wav *********.wav

#####002.wav

#####003.wav

#####008.wav

<Hint!>: Before creating an audio CD, you can check a stereo WAV file in the "2 MIX"
folder by playing back in the "2 MIX file playback" mode (see page 5 for details), as well as can set CUE points for track division. If you make an audio CD from a stereo WAV file which contains more than one song (such as a file of "live" recording), you can divide the file into tracks by setting a CUE to the beginning of each song. In this case, select the burning mode to "Disk at once" when creating an audio CD (for details about how to set a CUE, see "Stereo WAV file playback" from the next page).
<Note>: To play back a stereo WAV file or create an audio CD, you must load the song in which the
bounced track data on tracks 15/16 has been converted to the stereo WAV file (see the example below).
<Example>: If five songs (01 through 05) are recorded on the hard disk and the stereo WAV file to be burned to a CD-R/RW disc is stored in the "2 MIX" folder of Song 03;
Load Song 03 before starting the operation.
To load the desired song, use the "Select Song" menu item in the "Song" menu of the MENU mode. See page 114 of the MR16 owner's manual for details about the "Select Song" menu item.
Before creating an audio CD (playing back a stereo WAV file)

About "Track at once" and "Disk at once"
The MR16 provides two burning modes for creating an audio CD in the CD-DA format.
"Track at once"
The unit burns a stereo WAV file to a CD-R/RW disc as a track. You can burn an additional track at a later time until the disc is finalized. Each time you burn a file, a TOC is created. Approximately two-second silence is automatically inserted between tracks.

"Disk at once"

The unit burns a stereo WAV file and automatically finalizes the disc. You cannot burn an additional data. As described earlier in "2 MIX file playback mode", when one or more CUE points are set to the stereo WAV file, file data is divided into tracks at the CUE points. In this mode, no mute space is created between tracks. (Note that if the stereo WAV file does not have any CUE point, it is burned as a single track.) In the procedure described below, it is assumed that the following preparations are made. Both the MR16 and an external CD-R/RW drive are powered, while a CD-R/RW disc is set to the CDR/RW drive. The song which has the stereo WAV file to be burned is loaded.
Connect the MR16 to an external CD-R/RW drive using a USB cable. While the MR16 is stopped, press the [MENU/ENTER] knob to enter the MENU mode.
The display now shows the first page of the menu selection screen.
Use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select "USB HOST " on the second page and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display now shows the USB HOST menu screen.
4) Use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select "CD Burn " and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display now shows the Burning mode selection screen. You can select between "Track at once" and "Disk at once" (see the previous page).
<Note>: When more than one stereo WAV file
is stored in the "2 MIX folder" (as shown in the example below), you can use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select a desired file for "CD Burn" (The maximum number of displayed files in the list is ten).

<Note>: If "Not Mounted" is shown when you
select "USB HOST " using the [MENU/ENTER] knob in step 3) above, an external CD-R/RW drive is not connected to the MR16 correctly.
6) Use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select the desired WAV file and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The unit starts writing the file to the CD-R/RW disc. Depending on the selected burning mode, either of the following screens is shown. While the unit is writing data to the disc, "Writing." is popped up and " ACC " is flashing on the screen.
If you press the [MENU/ENTER] knob in the above condition, the following message pops up.
Also the ACCESS indicator of the CD-R/RW drive is flashing. Do not turn off the power or press the eject switch of the drive while writing. While writing data to the disc, any operational keys of the MR16 are disabled.
In such a case, check the USB cable connection while the MR16 stops accessing to the HDD drive or CD-R/RW drive. Then confirming that the display does not show "Not Mounted", press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
5) Use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select the desired burning mode and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display now shows the screen for selecting a stereo WAV file in the "2 MIX folder" of the current song. In the screen example below, only one stereo WAV file is stored.
Now writing in the Track at once mode
Now writing in the Disk at once mode
You can check the TOC information any time (both before and after finalizing). It is recommended to check the remaining time (the recordable time left) from the TOC information whenever you write an additional stereo WAV file (see "Viewing the TOC information" on page 13 for details).
<Note>: If the selected stereo WAV file is larger
than the available disc space of the current CDR/RW disc, the following message pops up and you cannot start writing (you can dismiss the message by pressing the [MENU/ENTER] knob). Change the disc to another one with enough space and carry out the same operation procedure.
Use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select "CD Finalize " and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display now shows the confirmation screen for finalizing, where "[CANCEL]" is highlighted. To cancel finalizing, highlight "[CANCEL]" and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.

When writing is completed, "Completed!" is shown and the disc access stops.
To start finalizing, highlight "[EXECUTE]" and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
Now writing in the Track at once mode is completed
9) Now writing in the Disk at once mode is completed 7) Press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display returns to the USB HOST menu screen, where "CD Burn " is highlighted.
Use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select "[EXECUTE]" and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display now shows the status of finalizing. When finalizing is completed, "Completed" is shown and the disc is automatically ejected from the CD-R/RW drive.
When the disc is burned in the "Disk at once" mode, it is automatically finalized after writing is completed, and then ejected. You can check the TOC information if desired. See "Viewing the TOC information after finalizing" on page 14 for details. When the disc is burned in the "Track at once" mode, go to step 8 for finalizing the disc. If you want to write more than one stereo WAV file, repeat steps 4 through 6 above, and go to step 8 for finalizing after writing all the desired stereo WAV files.
11) Press the [STOP] key to exit the MENU mode.
You can also exit the MENU mode by selecting " Back" and pressing the [MENU/ENTER] knob repeatedly.
<Note>: Once you finalize a disc written in the
"Track at once" mode, you cannot make additional writing any more. If you reload the finalized disc and attempt to write a file, "Already Finalized" is popped up and operation is cancelled.
10) Press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display returns to the USB HOST menu screen, where "CD Finalize " is highlighted.
You can check the TOC information after finalized. See "Viewing the TOC information after finalizing" for on page 14 details.
The following shows how audio CD data is written to a CD-R/RW disc in the "Track at once" or "Disk at once" mode. Writing a single stereo WAV file in the "Track at once" mode:

Viewing the TOC information
You can view the TOC information of a burned disc both before finalizing and after finalizing (for a disc burned by "Disk at once", you can view the TOC only after finalizing, of course). It is recommended to check the remaining time (the recordable time left) from the TOC information whenever you write an additional stereo WAV file in the "Track at once" mode.
<TOC>: TOC stands for Table of Contents. TOC lists number of CD tracks, their starting locations, playing time of each track on the disc, etc.
Viewing the TOC information before finalizing (only for a disc burned by "Track at once")
The following assumes that a disc contains a track burned by "Track at once" and has not yet been finalized, while "CD Burn " is highlighted on the USB HOST screen.
2) After viewing TOC, use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select " Back" and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display returns to the screen where "CD TOC " is highlighted.
Use the [MENU/ENTER] knob to select "CD TOC " and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob.
The display shows "Please Wait.", followed by the track number and playing time, as well as the disc remaining time.
To burn an additional track by "Track at once" after viewing the TOC information, select CD Burn and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob, then select a desired stereo WAV file, as described earlier (see page 8). To finalize the disc after viewing the TOC information, select "CD Finalize " and press the [MENU/ENTER] knob (see page 11).
<Note>: The following shows the screen example when you burn multiple WAV files by Track at once. You can check the playing time of each track as well as the disc remaining time.
Viewing the TOC information after finalizing
The following assumes that a disc automatically finalized after "Disk at once" writing or a disc finalized after "Track at once" writing is ejected from an external CD-R/RW drive, while the display shows the CD-RW menu screen where "CD Finalize " is highlighted.
Close the ejected disc tray of the CD-R/RW drive.
Push the front of the disc tray gently by hand. The finalized disc is loaded. Confirm that the "CD Finalize " is highlighted on the screen.
After checking the TOC information, use the [STOP] key to exit the MENU mode.
The display returns to the Home screen.
<Note>: When you burn multiple stereo WAV
files by "Track at once" and finalized or you burn a stereo WAV file with multiple CUE points by "Disk at once", the Track list screen looks like the one below (the remaining time is shown as "0h 00m 00s", of course).

<Note>: When you close the tray, the drive starts reading the disc and the access indicator starts flashing. Therefore, do not carry out the next operation until the drive stops accessing and the access indicator gets unlit. <Note>: You can also view the TOC of a commercially available audio CD, as with an audio CD you create using the MR16. (Note that some commercially available audio CDs may not show the TOC information.) To do this, set an audio CD to the CD-R/RW drive and carry out the same operation as described above using the "USB HOST" menu in the MENU mode. Note that you can view only the playing time of each track. You cannot view track titles.
The display shows "Please Wait.", followed by the TOC information, as with "Viewing the TOC information before finalizing". However, in this case, the remaining time is shown as "0h 00m 00s", which means no more tracks can be recorded to this finalized disc.
