The PRIMERGY RX100 S5 rack server is designed with a surprising amount of functionality and performance in an affordable and compact chassis. It is just 1U high, making it the perfect solution for initiatives demanding high density at a low cost. It is an ideal platform for use as a front-end or single function server in server farms. Other possible applications include use in infrastructure roles such as a domain controller, DNS gateway or firewall server, or as Web hosting server.

Server Management

The integrated Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 compliant server management controller allows the system to be remotely managed even if the operating system is no longer available. An optional license key unlocks powerful web based remote console features that give the remote administrator full control over the system. Now you can configure the server, troubleshoot problems, or even power the system on or offall through a simple web-based interface. These hardware-based features fully integrate into a powerful ServerView Suitethe remote management console for PRIMERGY servers.

Available Quad Core Intel Processors give the PRIMERGY RX100 S5 the power of four processing cores bringing a new class of affordable performance to high density server farms. Models with integrated SATA (supporting RAID-0) and optional hot-plug hard drives enable you to cost effectively set up mirrored or striped hard drives arrays. Integrated Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) models offer higher performance hard drives for more demanding applications. PCI Express slots open up high performance expansion possibilities.

Availability

The PRIMERGY RX100 S5 includes advanced hard drive monitoring and memory protection features. Hard drive status is constantly monitored through the integrated RAID controller. Hot plug drive options allow for quick replacement of failed drives. In the event of a predicted failure of a drive in a mirror set, the system alerts the administrator and shifts all data access to the healthy drive. ECC memory protection assures that any single bit memory errors are quickly corrected.
