For administration and operation, a monitor and a keyboard are required, often connected via a console switch to the various servers in one rack. A standard 17-inch monitor usually takes up 11 height units of valuable space, and the keyboard at least an additional height unit. These units could be put to better use to accommodate more servers or storage subsystems, or an UPS. With the RC23 rack console, Fujitsu Siemens provides a means of doing this and at the same time helps create an ergonomically optimized workplace. The 19-inch rack console is implemented as a slide-in tray and occupies only a single height unit in a rack. It contains a 17-inch TFT display, a complete keyboard and an additional touchpad. Concept The 19-inch rack console combines the monitor and keyboard into a single functional unit. The TFT display has an adjustable tilting angle and is mounted behind the keyboard with its integrated touchpad. When not in use, the monitor can be folded out of the way into the tray. The monitor is then switched off automatically to save energy and to extend the monitors life. When pulled out, the tray locks into place. The lock can be released to push it in again.
Ergonomics Thanks to its flicker-free operation and high resolution, the TFT display is a very ergonomic device. Additionally, the complete display unit can be mounted at the ideal working height. The operator is seated in the same position as if working at a desk. The tilt of the display can also be set to the best position. Additional, optional functions Many installations consist of several single servers (clusters, dedicated servers) and have to be administered from a single point of operation. In this case, a console switch can be used to switch the monitor, keyboard and mouse to different servers. This can be done using hot keys on the console. The user interface is implemented with an on-screen display that is available on the monitor for a short time.

This document contains technical background information for the installation of servers and components into the PRIMECENTER Rack. Please use the latest version of System-Architect for configuration. The System-Architect, a configuration tool with graphical user interface, enables you to gain an overview over the required configuration even while planning the system. A simultaneous examination of consistence ensures completeness and functionality of the required system. Rack assembly at customer site: stacked versions will be delivered separately; max permitted stacked hight is 50 U. The 12U, 24U and 38U racks will be delivered fully equipped, whilst the 46U racks will be delivered with mounting kits and cabeling preinstalled, if the service "rackmounting ex factory" (SNP:SY-F1647E301-P) was ordered for each Server and Subsystem. The on-site service has to be requested for power installation and in case of the 46U racks for server installation at the customers site. This service is not included in the price of the rack.

For the cabling of a PRIMECENTER Rack the length of the adapter set is customized in order to offer the best possible cable management. The number of cables have to be ordered according to the number of servers which have to be connected. For the supplementory order of KVM S2-Switches can be ordered the following cable length of the UTP CAT 5 of cable (blue, RJ45) loosely. The appropriate KVM S2-adapter is to be ordered likewise. Cables for PRIMERGY SX10 and SX30 External SCSI cables 16Bit (wide) SCSI For cabling a PRIMECENTER rack ex works, the length of the cable loom is customized in order to offer the best possible cable management. The number of cables have to be ordered according to the number of SCSI channels.
If a PRIMERGY SX10 / SX30 is build in, the following cables must be selected according to the "PRIMERGY SX10 / SX30 cabling " All cables are fixed permanently in the rack. The number of items to be ordered with respective length, depends on the number of SCSI channels to be connected. Attention! Only the cables mentioned here, may be ordered for external storage systems, if the rack is to be cabled ex factory.
Please use the cabling overview to select the external cables. When external cables of 1.8m are used, cable management is restricted in some cases, i.e. the modules in the rack cannot be removed without first disconnecting the SCSI cabling. Within the basic units of PRIMECENTER racks, are no power outlets integrated.
It is possible to order such power outlets as follows (1- or 3- phase power outlet), or the connections to the mains can be done via an UPS. In case there is no 16A CEE plug choosen (1-phase solutions is with an 16A CEE plug, while it is choosable with the 3-phase solution), the connection to the mains (line) has to be done as an fix connectionfrom an certified electrician according to the existing regulations. The maximum current load for each phase may not exceed 16amp (with fixed connection, CEE and safety socket), for each Euro socket connector may 10A not be exceeded.
