About this manual

This manual describes the installation of SystemDiagnostics and the operation of the program.
In the entire manual the operating systems Windows XP Professional and Windows Vista are referred to as Windows.

SystemDiagnostics Overview
SystemDiagnostics is a diagnostics tool that helps you find and eliminate problems on your computer. For this purpose two test options are available to you:

Quick test

In this quick test all the hardware components on your computer are tested in a short time (approx. 5 minutes).

Detailed test

This test routine is used to test the hardware components in-depth. The test lasts several hours.

This function provides information about the computer on which SystemDiagnostics is installed.
Installation/Deinstallation of SystemDiagnostics

Prerequisites

The following operating system must be installed for the installation of SystemDiagnostics: Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista or Windows Server 2003
Install/Deinstall SystemDiagnostics
How to install SystemDiagnostics:
Double click on the file SystemDiagnostics_setup.exe. Follow the instructions on the screen.
How to deinstall SystemDiagnostics:
Deinstall the program with the help of the Windows functions (Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs).
Select Deinstallation in the program group SystemDiagnostics.

Analysis

You have two analysis options: The quick test is used to test the hardware components of your computer in a short time. The detailed test is used to test the hardware components of your computer in-depth. The test can last several hours.
In both cases the results of the test are displayed. If problems have occurred, you are shown options of eliminating these
During the test the screen can flicker or be dark. If the CD/DVD drive is to be tested, please insert a functioning CD/DVD (not an audio CD).

Perform analysis

How to perform the analysis:
Start SystemDiagnostics. In the navigation click on the symbol Quick analysis or Detailed analysis. To view the result of the last analysis click on Last result in the navigation bar. Select the hardware components you want to test by clicking on the appropriate boxes so as to mark or unmark the required entries in the list. If you want to abort the test, click on the Cancel symbol/entry in the status line. Start the analysis by clicking on the Click here to start the tests symbol/entry. The analysis is started. In the dialog window you are shown the following information: the status of the tests of the selected hardware components the progress of the test of the current component the total time taken for the tests.

In order to stop the test click on the Pause button. The test is interrupted and can be re-activated with the Continue button. To stop the test of a previously selected component click on Skip test. To stop the ongoing analysis click on Cancel tests.

Results

The results of the analysis are automatically shown as follows: The hardware components which were tested without any errors are shown. If it was not possible to test a hardware component, these components are listed first. If an error occurred in a hardware component, this is shown first in the list.

Error elimination

Hardware components have undergone the test without any problems
The hardware components can undergo the test without any problems and your system still only functions with errors. Check the configuration of your software. Some of the software products may possibly disturb each other. or Start the Detailed analysis in order to pinpoint the source of the error where possible.
Hardware component could not be tested
If a hardware component could not be tested, you are shown possible causes as to why the test was not possible. Eliminate this cause and test the component again by specifically selecting the component in the list of the hardware components to be tested.
Hardware component is faulty
Errors you can eliminate yourself
If a hardware component is faulty, a distinction is made between two error types: Errors you can eliminate with the help of the service. Click on the lamp symbol of the faulty component.
Errors you can eliminate yourself
In a new dialog window you receive information about how the problem of the faulty component can be solved. Errors you can eliminate with the help of the service. Make a note of the displayed DIFS code and the displayed serial number of the faulty component. Click on the lamp symbol to receive more information. In a new dialog window you receive a list of service telephone numbers, under which you can obtain help for the hardware problem.
