Production for the animated adaptation will begin in 2006.
Microsoft and Maxmedia announced that the Santa Monica production company will develop an animated feature adaptation of the upcoming Xbox 360 video game, "Kameo: Elements of Power." Sunmin Park will adapt the video game for the screen version, as well as direct. Park recently produced, co-wrote and directed the English version of "Sky Blue", a multilayered, composite, digital animation feature in high definition. The film premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and went on to screen at film festivals in Venice, London, Tokyo and other cities around the world. Park's producing credits also include "The Others," starring Nicole Kidman and directed by Alejandro Amenbar, and Chen Kaige's "The Emperor and the Assassin," starring Gong Li."Kameo: Elements of Power", the broad-appeal, fantasy action-adventure title developed by Rare, will be released this holiday season by Microsoft Game Studios exclusively for the revolutionary next-generation Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. In "Kameo: Elements of Power," as a young Elf, Kameo must master her new ability to transform into mystical warriors and harness their powers to save her people from Thorn, the evil Troll king. As you all know, the Xbox 360 is on the receiving end of quite a lot of new features for its Xbox Live online service and for its dashboard user interface. Besides being able, at the end of the year, to interact with Facebook or Twitter, the console will get its own Games on Demand mode this month. It will be offering a pretty big variety of fresh video games that have appealed to many gamers around the world as digital downloads that will be stored on the hard drive of the console. But don't think that this service will rival Steam or other programs on the PC, as day-and-date releases aren't possible just yet, meaning that older titles will be marketed on the service. Microsoft has just revealed to the press two lists containing that games that will be available when the service starts this month in North America and Japan. While a lot of games you might be used to are marketed for North Americans, the Japanese Xbox 360 users are certainly getting something more localized.
