Detailed Description
MISL is the officially licensed video game for the Major Indoor Soccer League. MISL features licensed players and arenas from the Major Indoor Soccer League. MISL offers everything you expect out of a sports simulation title;
quick games, a season mode, visually realistic, and online play all wrapped up in a thrilling video game experience.
MISL looks like soccer, and is played more like hockey. Figure 1 is a shot of MISL players in action, and Figure 2 is a picture of a packed MISL arena demonstrating the fan base supporting the Major Indoor Soccer League. Figure 3 and Figure 4 are screenshots of FIFA 05 and NHL 05 respectively, and provide some reference as to what MISL will look like.

The game is broken up into four distinct modes of play quick game mode, season mode, challenge mode, and multiplayer mode. 1. Quick Game Mode: Allows you to play a game against your friends or the game itself. 2. Season Mode: 3. Challenge Mode: 4. Multiplayer Mode: Allows you to manage a team through an entire season. Provides indoor soccer specific challenges, such as performing certain ball maneuvers to score a goal. Allows up to four players to play on one machine, up to eight players to play on two system-linked machines, and up to 10 players to play via Xbox Live.
In MISL, two teams of six players (including the goalie) play against each other. The basic rules of play are almost identical to those of soccer, with the exception of a few penalties. Furthermore MISL employs the use of penalty boxes in the same manner that they are used in the National Hockey League. For more information on the rules, see the official rule book at: http://www.misl.net/upload_images/mislrules04.pdf.

Major Hooks

1. Soccer with Body Checking: In MISL you can use the boards much like hockey does. While on defense, you use the right thumbstick to body check the opposing player into the boards. Depending on the location of your player and the direction you push the thumbstick, you can body check an opposing play up to eight different ways. The size and energy of the hit energizes crowd and fills your teams boosts meter the louder the crowd, the more boost you receive. 2. Challenge Mode: Challenge mode provides a series of indoor soccer related challenges. Once you complete a challenge, you are awarded with points to unlock new uniforms, songs, and arenas or pitches. These challenges range from scoring goals, to protecting a lead, to throwing huge body checks. 3. Ball Protection Feature: By holding the left trigger on offense, you can use your body to shield the ball from on coming opponents. This makes it very difficult for the defensive player to take the ball from you, in fact they must use the tackle button, or body check button to pry you off the ball. 4. On-the-Fly Substitutions: As in hockey, MISL allows you to change your players on-the-fly. Because indoor soccer is a non-stop, sport played on a short pitch, players tire quickly, especially when you use the boost. MISL allows you to substitute your player with any of the players on the bench. Pressing up on the directional pad changes forwards, down on the directional pad changes defenders.

Minor Hooks

1. Xbox 360 Marketplace Enabled: Using the new Xbox Live Marketplace, you can purchase new uniforms, songs, create-a-player artwork, arenas, and pitches to use. The arenas and pitches are available for use in Quick Game Mode, Season Mode, and Challenge Mode. They are also available in Multiplayer Mode on the machine where they were purchased. In order for the downloads to be used in system-link and online play, each machine must have the same downloads. Downloaded songs and uniforms are always available. 2. Authentic Arenas: Pending licensing agreements, the arenas shipped with the game are replicas of the same arenas each of the eight Major Indoor Soccer League teams play in. Extra arenas and pitches are available via downloads through the Xbox Live Marketplace.

3. Create a Player: Any sports simulation game offering season modes are almost expected to have a create-a-player feature. MISL includes this feature with a large set of artwork (faces, noses, eyes, facial hair, hair styles, three body sizes, four body heights, and a full spectrum of colors to create uniforms). If this set of artwork is not enough, more will periodically be made available through the Xbox Live Marketplace. 4. Online Tournaments: In conjunction with the Major Indoor Soccer League schedule, the developers and/or publishers of MISL will host online tournaments throughout North America. The winners will be awarded with tickets to upcoming games, Xbox 360 hardware, video games, and credits for free Xbox Live downloads.

Gameplay

Controller Layout
The controls for MISL are a blend of the controls from the key competitors. They are mapped in such a way that a player from the target audience will easily recognize them, and any new player to MISL will find the controls easy and straightforward to use.

There are a few art requirements to give MISL a professional sports look and feel. This art specifically includes: Good player models, including player faces, uniforms, and shoes Accurate indoor pitch and arena models
MISL requires specific audio to give the appropriate professional sports simulation look and feel. These sounds do not necessarily have to be from an actual indoor soccer match, but it helps. These sounds include, but are not limited to: Audio Soundtrack (licensed from various artists) Arena Sounds: o o o Ambient Sounds Crowd Noise Music Indoor Soccer Match Audio: o o o o Ball Hitting the wall Body Checks Player Voices Striking the Ball
