Rumor Mill: 3D Halo Combat Evolved Coming This Fall
A rumor suggests that this fall publisher Microsoft will be launching a full remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, using both high definition graphics and three dimensional gaming technology to offer newer gamers a chance to experience the shooter that started one of the biggest franchises in the world of gaming. New site Joystiq is quoting unnamed sources inside of Microsoft that are saying that the new Xbox 360 release will not just deliver the old experience with better graphics but will actually use all new art, designed specifically to look better and show off the abilities of the current Microsoft platform. The controls will also be changed by the developers, but it seems that the original sounds will be included in the new release without any modifications. The two players split screen cooperative mode that the original game offered is also set to be replaced with online cooperative play, with competitive multiplayer also apparently added. The sources are also saying that development duties are not being handled by 343 Industries but by Saber Interactive, a developer that is also working with Namco Bandai on a game called Inversion. It also seems that the Halo Combat Evolved remake will not be using the engine that powered last falls successful Reach but another tech. The rumors suggest that Microsoft is aiming to launch the remade Halo Combat Evolved on November 15 of this year, the day that marks ten years since the original game arrived on the first Xbox home gaming console. If the rumors prove to be true, then it's pretty sure that Microsoft will also remake Halo 2 using an updated engine, aiming for 1080p graphics and possibly 3D, with a launch possibly coming in 2012. 343 Industries is widely thought to be working on a whole new Halo game, one which will apparently not deal with side stories and will focus on Master Chief.
