I really enjoyed this game, to the extent that I still replay it every so often even now, three years since I first bought it!

This game has a loyal fanbase and most iterations of it receive high praise in any review article. However.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is probably one of the best Castlevanias over the original and GBA Castlevanias. I like Portrait of Ruin better.

This game is classic Castlevania. None. There are quite a few extras and a cool intro too. The wifi features are good for big fans like me and my bro.

I had never played a Castlevania game before, so I had no idea what to expect from Dawn of Sorrow, so I took a chance when buying it.

Simply said: Great game. Probably the best out for DS right now, in my opinion. This game is classic Castlevania.

Castlevania: Dawn Of Sorrow Unlockables (DS)
Take on hellish creatures and defeat the vampires again
Taking place a year after Aria of Sorrow, the game's protagonist - Soma Cruz - finds himself at the center of a mysterious cult's plan to resurrect their evil lord and master Dracula. To save himself and protect the lives of those he loves, Soma must infiltrate the enemy's home base, a towering replica of Dracula's castle that is teaming with monstrous creatures. Players' abilities develop as they collect items and gather experience points by defeating a multitude of gruesome enemies. In their quest to defeat enemies, players will use original gameplay concepts that leverage Nintendo DS' touch screen technology. One example is Dawn of Sorrow's "Magic Seal" system. By using the stylus directly on the screen, players must connect a series of symbols in the proper order to unlock an enchanted opening and disperse their enemy's magic into it when they are weakened. The touch screen technology will also be used to destroy "Crystal Blocks." This ability will allow players to access unreachable areas as well as eliminate obstacles. Nintendo DS' dual screens also allow game information to be readily displayed. During gameplay, the top screen of the Nintendo DS will display an environment map, as well as information on player status, enemy vulnerability, and acquired power-ups. UNLOCKABLES Completion bonuses Successfully complete the game with the best ending to unlock the Boss Rush mode, Sound Test mode, and New Game+ options. Successfully complete the game under the hard difficulty setting as Soma to get the Hell Flame Soul move. Successfully complete the game with any ending to unlock Julius mode. Rare Ring Have the Game Boy Advance game Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow in the cartridge slot and start a new game to have the Rare Ring in your inventory. Mina Doll Have the Game Boy Advance game Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow in the cartridge slot. You will see a Mina doll in the background of Yoko's shop waving her arms. Here's a video of this game:

Castlevania: Dawn Of Sorrow Hints VII (DS)

HINTS Easy damage Get the Medusa Head Soul from Subterranean Hell and activate the Malphas "Double Jump" ability. At the peak of your double jump, hold R to use the Soul and press Down + B to activate a downward kick. With R held, you will stay afloat, yet gain speed as if you were actually falling from a high peak. This combination can deal one- or two-hit KOs to many strong monsters (for example, Treant or Alura Une) when R is charged, and can take down powerful Bosses in as few as five hits. Last two abilities The last two abilities are actually enemy souls. These souls are the Procel and Mudman. Procel is found in Subterranean Hell whereas Mudman is found in the Abyss. These souls allow you to walk through water and sand freely. Secret Monsters There are three secret monsters (the Yeti, Mothman, and the Flying Humanoid.) To get the Yeti, you must first get the Waiter Skeleton Soul, then go back to the very beginning of the game. You will see him walking in the background. Toss the curry and he will come up where you can attack him and gain his soul. You will need the Rycuda soul leveled up to at least two to get Mothman. Go to The Pinnacle to the area where there are two final guards and a light in between them. Strike the generator next to the light with Rycuda and Mothman will appear. For the Flying Humanoid, you will need the Mandragora soul. Enter the room in between the Zephyr Boss room and a save room, then use the soul.

Full description

The crusade against the vampire Dracula continues, as Castlevania debuts on DS with this fast-paced fighting adventure. Serving as a sequel to the GBA's Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (2003), Dawn of Sorrow returns players to the role of Soma Cruz, a noble hero who struggles to resist his accursed call to join the forces of evil. Players can enhance Soma's powers by collecting souls from defeated enemies, or by trading them wirelessly with other Dawn of Sorrow players. The monster-bashing action plays out in the lower screen, in a style similar to that of the series' various 2D side-scrolling classics, while character statistics and other background information are displayed above, removing the need to constantly pause the game to check currently equipped powers and weapons. This chapter in the Castlevania epic was produced by Koji Igarashi and other key members of the team responsible for acclaimed Aria of Sorrow. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
