Additional Information on Selected Items
Current item in hand when interacting with an object (ex: Locked door needs key)
Drag Items on these slots to assign them a Number Key from 1 to 9. Number key 0 holster the weapon.
The Inventory Tab gives you access to the items you are carrying. It enables you to deploy items as well as check for information about your character and the items in your possession. You can also feed yourself or cure injuries. Each object in the Inventory has a range of parameters to be viewed in the information window. This information is useful and varies for each item. To drop an object from your Inventory, drag it to the center of the screen. *Note that the total weight of items in your Inventory is limited by Saul's Strength parameter (see Character Profile page 17). You wont be able to carry more than 30Kgs at the beginning of the game. Also remember that too much weight will slow you down.

Page 13

Depending on certain situations, the Inventory Tab may temporarily transform into a Trade or Search Tab.
Item for sale Information window
The Trade tab becomes available once you go to any trader in the game; traders include arms dealers,Fruit sellers, etc. The Trade Tab allows you to buy and sell items. The top window shows your Inventory while the lower section displays that of the trader. To buy an item, select it in the traders Inventory and drag it into your own Inventory. If you want to sell an item, select it and drag it into the traders Inventory window. If you want to buy multiple items then drag and drop this item in your inventory and select how many you want to buy. By default, the maximum number will be selected and this can be changed to suit your need. The price of an item is displayed with its parameters as well. You may view your balance on the right side of the screen. If the balance is negative, you obviously don't have enough money to buy your selected goods. Note: You can make all the transactions at once, and after all the transactions are made, select confirm. The selling price of items can be less than the cost price so Be Careful!

Page 14

Information window

The Search tab becomes available when Saul is searching a trunk of a vehicle or a dead body. The Search Tab allows you to take items from the trunk of a vehicle, say, or from another character after a search. To search a character, press Enter or click right mouse button. Select what you want to take and drag it into your Inventory. However, all the items that are available are shown the moment you move your pointer towards them and these can be taken one by one by either pressing F1/F2/F3 or take all of them by pressing F12

Upgrade Tab

Information on selected Object or Sub-Object. Money Ability

Character

Upgrading enables improvements to equipment: for example, weapon reloading time may be reduced, shooting range extended, or bullet magazines made larger, among other possible parameter changes.

Page 15

To perform an upgrade, first select an item and then drag it onto the Objects Slot in the lower part of the screen. Next, move the upgrade item from the top window into the Sub-objects slot and press Assemble. To do so, you need to have an upgrade item to associate with the item you wish to upgrade. You can disassemble upgraded items the same way if you wish to remove the upgrade. When an item has been upgraded it appears in the information window next time you select it.

Missions Tab

Use this window to define your journey's objective. You may select one of the missions (Search for Lisa or Missions) as your objective - in this case your compass pointer turns red. Alternatively, you may select a known character (you've already spoken to), or one of the Places located on the map - in these cases the pointer turns green. To cancel (Remove) a mission or a location, simply select it and press the Del key. You can undelete missions by deleting it from the Removed tab. The Missions Tab gives access to different sub-tabs: Search For Lisa View all relevant missions to advance your main investigation. Click on an objective or a mission and it will show up as a red cross on your map and the compass will show you the direction and distance of the objective. Missions You will need a lot of money to pull through the other side and get your daughter back. The main way to earn money is to take on missions from one of the many factions present in the game and accomplish them. Depending on the difficulty of the accomplished missions you will earn a certain amount of money. When you are interested in performing an objective for any faction, select the objective in the Missions tab and the pointer will show you where you need to go. The location is marked as a

Page 16

red X on the mini-map/map. Do not hesitate to talk to people, though be warned, because depending on what you do in a mission your reputation will change. Removed This is where you find the missions you deleted from the Resources Tab. Known Characters Double-clicking on the icon of a character you have already met will take you to the Note Pad (see Note Pad page 18). A single click on the characters icon will show him as a green marker on the map and displays his actual position where you can visit him again. Places Left click on a place to select it. It will show up on the Map as a green cross and on your compass as a green pointer. The last three vehicle locations are automatically saved here. *Many missions have more than two ways to be completed. Where brutality and manipulation don't work, money might do the trick

Map Tab

Waypoint and Reference Point Markers

Distance to mission

Marker information
The Map is pretty handy; the world of Boiling Point is huge. The more ground you cover on the map, the more youll reveal new sections. The

Page 17

map pinpoints the location of your current mission, of roads, paths through the jungle, cities, gas stations, special landmarks etc. Conflicting parties are also represented by colored dots on the map. This will help you plan your attacks on other parties, on customs posts or on the entrances to special or restricted areas. Use the left mouse button (hold down) to scale the map. To use the markers: select the Blue Flag and place your waypoint using the left mouse button (waypoints appear as blue crosses). To refer to a location on the map, select the Green Flag and use the right mouse button to place your marker (which appears as a green cross). You may name this marker and the same will be displayed in places which you can use later.

Character Profile Tab

Shows the current players Status.
1- Rank (based on experience) 2- Experience: Displays how much experience you have. 3- Money: Displays how much money you have. 4- Physical Aptitudes and Abilities Sauls aptitude and ability levels are low at the start. His experience increases as he completes missions. The more hits you make while using a weapon for example, the better your weapon handling ability and shooting accuracy becomes. The same goes for other

Page 18

aptitudes, such as Fatigue, Technical or Trade aptitudes. Watch out: if you use the same weapon too much, you will increase your ability with one particular weapon to the detriment of the others. 5- Relations with people Attitude parameters are very important. At the beginning of the game all parties are neutral, as they have no reason to like you or hate you, (see Parties page 5 behind the "Poster"). When you help one particular party you inevitably spoil your relations with others. During your adventure and depending on your actions, you will see different parties relationships switch from Neutral to Enemy or Friend. 6- Addiction to medicines, adrenaline or drink Abuse of medicine, adrenaline and alcohol can have a negative influence on your health and physical capacities. You may ultimately have to go to hospital to be treated if you are addicted. 7- Vehicle handling Governs the kind of vehicle you are qualified to handle.

In the Note Pad you may review all dialogues with the other characters you've met throughout the game Double-click on a characters icon to view all related dialogues, as well as the location of the character on the map represented as a green cross.

HEADS UP DISPLAY
1- Health: Displays both the overall health (mainly represented by head and body) and any damage to your character's main body parts. You wont die by the injuries to your arms or legs, however your accuracy and movement are greatly affected by the health of your limbs 2- Incoming Information: Changes in the mission, radio contacts, actions to perform, etc. 4- Compass: Indicates your direction and the distance to your current mission. 5- Mini Map: To display a mini map as an alternative to the compass, press the Tab key. 6- Characters: Displays icons representing characters you have encountered as well as your relation to the party they are from. 7- Relations Status: Displays briefly, and in certain situations, your relations with all parties. You cannot control this icon , it is automatically displayed when you are near a party 3- In use Slot(s): Information about the item, weapon or vehicle you are currently using. 8- Hotkey Slot(s): Items or weapons for use by pressing the hotkeys (1-9) or using the mouse wheel up or down. Number key 0 to holster the weapon 9- Search Slot(s): Related to the Search action, when you are in the active zone of a "searchable" character or vehicle. (For a quick search press F1-F12 keys).

Page 20

A word about the Crosshair

Information Action

Pointing the crosshair at something or someone will display information about them, as well as related actions you may perform by pressing Enter or the right or left mouse button. By pointing the crosshair at characters as you approach them, you may also see to which party they belong and your relation level with this party.

HEALTH

Your characters health is calculated from the state of several parts of his body (head, arms, chest and legs). The color of each part may change gradually from green (100% healthy) to red (severely wounded) to 0% (dead). If a part of your body is injured or tired after effort, it will affect your health, physical aptitudes or accuracy. To cure yourself or retrieve energy, go to the Inventory, select a syringe or food and drag it over the part of the body you urgently need to heal. However, watch out! Using too much medicine will make you addicted; the same goes for alcohol and adrenaline. If you die in battle you will return to the hospital and you have to continue your mission from there (your experience levels drop and you lose your weapons). But, no rescue is without a price to be paid.

Page 21

*After long periods of exertion, you are suggested to rest. It is also recommended to cure any injury and addiction (Hospital / Inventory) as well as to have a rest (J key) to boost Saul back to full capacity. Be aware that head or body injuries are the most fatal Ones!

THE ENVIRONMENT

All actions take place over a vast territory within which you may freely move anywhere. As movement on foot can be a real loss of time and energy, you are recommended to use vehicles (see page 8 of the "Poster"). The taxi is the fastest and the most stress free way to travel round, if you have money. In town, there are always yellow cabs. Approach the taxi and press Enter or E. Next select your destination and confirm your choice. Be aware that you cannot use the trunk of a taxi to transport things! Day, night and weather elements are as in real life unpredictable! Observe the sky and look at your watch from time to time (H key). A missed appointment is always a drag, as is being caught in the middle of the jungle as night falls.

Towns & Villages

Towns and villages are scattered throughout the country. You can stay in a town or village for a night, hire a car, buy things, talk in bars with local inhabitants. Do not forget that you should not use weapons in public places as you may injure innocent people. Doing so you will lose your relations with civilians which may prove costly! * Hotels or cars are not the only places where you can sleep or rest a little bit, you will find some others later on

Jungle & rivers:

When driving into the jungle, you will find people selling food, drink or other useful items along the road. Most parts of the jungle are uninhabited, so feel free to explore, who knows you just might find items dropped by

Page 22

some other less fortunate adventurers. Remember jaguars and snakes are not the only dangers of the jungle Some rivers may be piranha-infested, so even if you can swim, a boat is preferable for water travel!

WEAPONS

Depending on the missions you have to accomplish, some weapons are more appropriate than others (see Weapons & Equipment page 6 of the "Poster"), so choose wisely. Weapons and ammunition arent so difficult to buy or find (simply loot dead bodies) however note that all weapons looted from bodies will have a certain amount of wear and they will misfire sometimes. Buying weapons requires a lot of money, as does their related upgrade. To fire a weapon, left click mouse button (primary fire), or right click mouse button (aim). To throw a grenade, left click mouse button while you have equipped a grenade. The information window in your Inventory will display all the parameters of the weapon or ammunition you select: weight, fire rate, distance range, reload time, etc.

VEHICLES

Vehicle Condition

Page 23

At the start of the game, you have the ability to drive cars. As you go deeper into your investigation, youll be able to take tests and acquire licenses to drive or pilot other vehicles (see Vehicles page 8 on the back of the Poster). Once you acquire a license, you can see it marked in green in your Character Profile window (see page 17).

Trunk content

As you approach a vehicle, you will see search slots appear at the bottom right of the screen; You may either take items out of the trunk of a car, or you can put heavy items in, to be transported; this can be handy as Saul can only carry a limited weight. Visiting a gas station allows for car repairs, petrol, and tires. If you are too far from a gas station, you can change a flat tire if there is a spare in the trunk.

FOOD & DRINKS

Food and drink for purchase is plentiful. Some foods bring more energy than others. If you want to know the good or bad effects of a food or drink, take a look at the information window when you select it. As for medicines and drinking too much alcohol, they will affect your health and physical capacities.

Technical specifications

Full description

Boiling Point is a first-person shooter set in the expansive jungle wilderness of a fictional South American country called Realia. Continuing guerilla warfare in the region makes it extremely dangerous, as do common attacks by wild animals. Players take the role of legionnaire named Saul Meyers, who now fights as a one-man army to protect his threatened family and his own life. Covering a virtual area of over 25-square kilometers, the game world is streamed, to allow players to traverse it with no load times. Small towns, hidden mercenary bases, and isolated shops and homes can be found in Realia's wilderness, providing role-playing opportunities. Grand Theft Auto III-style elements are also in play, as the hero can roam the levels as he sees fit, and hire (or commandeer) vehicles he finds for transportation assault runs. Players morally disciplined to simply steal whatever they need can earn cash by performing side-quests for NPCs.
