Players saved their home island from the forces of evil in Gothic 1 and Gothic 2. Now it is time to travel to the realms of the mainland, where invading Orcs have enslaved the human kingdom. There are but a few free humans in the nearly uninhabitable icy north and southern desert, and a handful of rebels hiding in the forests and mountains of Midland. Players can choose to join the rebellion or serve the Orcish Usurpers, ultimately tipping the scales and deciding the outcome of the last war to save the world. After that, in the game, press the ~(tilde) key on your keyboard to open up the console. New Game Projects for 2007 and 2008 are in the design and evaluation process at the moment. Further details will be given in the next instalment of this Newsletter in early summer of 2006.
The Restructuring works and will be continued
The main part of the fresh capital, which was raised through the 3-fold over subscribed capital increase in February, will be invested in new game titles for 2007 and 2008; a further step to successfully continue the necessary restructuring of JoWooD. Today, JoWooD provides a cleared balance sheet as well as a settled equity structure and a newly established distribution network yet, the operating fixed costs of the company could still be minimzed. In order to match present and future requirements of the games market, the business model and product strategy have been newly defined. As a result, huge parts of the restructuring could be handled successfully, minor, but still necessary areas, of restructuring will be dealt with now. In 2006, the economic drive for the operating business will be continued. To enable further savings all impersonal account areas will be re-evaluated. These measures will not effect the quality of new game developments. We believe that JoWooD has taken major steps for a re-launch of the company within the last months. We have learned to take advantage of being a small and flexible participant in the market and now need to focus on our outstanding products, says Albert Seidl, CEO JoWooD
