Not really worth paying for the retail version. System Requirements: 500 Mhz processor, 96 MB RAM. Release, or at least announce, Half-Life 2. In the first game, you played as the main protagonist - Gordon Freeman. In Opposing Force.

INTRODUCTION TO HALF-LIFE UNIVERSE *** In 1998, a new game who would leave its print on the FPS world is released. It lets control a scientist. Time. Obviously since then, the Half-Life saga has grown with the additions of Half Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Blue Shift.

Half-Life: Blue Shift Cheats and Map Codes (PC)
A couple of cheats for the neat Half-Life expansion pack
Half-Life: Blue Shift is the second, stand-alone expansion pack for the first-person shooter computer game Half-Life, developed by Gearbox Software and released on June 12, 2001. Like Gearbox's other expansions, Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Decay, Blue Shift returns to the setting and timeline of the original story, but with a different player character: the ubiquitous Black Mesa Research Facility security guard Barney Calhoun. As Barney, the player attempts to escape the alien invasion caused by the resonance cascade and the ensuing military cover-up.Blue Shift has now been released via Steam and can be purchased individually or in a pack with several other Half-Life titles. A third-party remake of Blue Shift for Source is under development. The title refers to actual blue shift which is the phenomenon of stars appearing bluer to the observer as they move closer to him. "Blue Shift" could also be interpreted as a casual way of referring to the facility's security guard's work shift (since they wear a blue uniform). The events of the game follow Barney as his "Blue Shift" coincides with the Black Mesa Incident.CodesActivate cheat code function Boot up Half-Life: Blue Shift with the bsift.exe-dev-console command line. Half-Life: Blue Shift

A game by Valve Software
Written by: Randy Pitchford & David Mertz Edited by: Brian Fuller
Valve Software 1998, all rights reserved.

Foreword

Half-Life, which debuted in 1998, revolutionized the first-person shooter genre. Even to this day, it remains one of the most-acclaimed video games of all time. Having received over fifty game-of-the-year awards, it has been hailed by both critics and players alike as a giant within the art form. Though Half-Life presented intuitive gameplay mechanics and realworld immersion, what brought Half-Life such success was more likely its natural dialogue and robust narrative. Half-Life: Blue Shift sought to build upon the successes in the original, telling the same story but from a different perspective. While in Half-Life players stepped into the shoes of Dr. Gordon Freeman, this time they will view the Black Mesa incident from the perspective of Barney Calhoun, a security guard witnessing a blue shift. In this edition of the Half-Life: Blue Shift script, I have compiled material from numerous sources to provide the most detailed, organic presentation of the games dialogue and narrative to date. Character emphasis has been italicized, in order to give due weight to the delivery provided by the games voice actors. I have also attempted to naturally streamline contextual dialogue, communicating in-game events with brevity and clarity. Whether you are a writer looking to glean some inspiration from this timeless classic or merely a fan of the series seeking to improve your understanding of the games events, you will surely find plenty to entertain and enthrall within this edition. I wish you all the best and sincerely hope you enjoy Half-Life: Blue Shift. Best Wishes, Brian Fuller, Esq.
SUBJECT: Barney Calhoun EDUCATION: 2 years Martinson College, Undecided Major EMPLOYER: Black Mesa Research Facility POSITION: Security Officer ASSIGNMENT: Sector 3 Security CLEARANCE: Level 3 DISASTER RESPONSE PRIORITY: Preservation of facility equipment and material SECONDARY PRIORITY: Welfare of research personnel LOW PRIORITY: Personal safety The game begins as Barney enters a food court. Scientist 1: Youre not going soft on that ethics issue, are you? Scientist 2: Anyone else getting hungry? Scientist 3: Any ideas on the origin of that new sample? Scientist 2: Im not sure. Security 1: Whered you get that suit? Security 2: Hell if I know. Friends like youThe security guards notice Barney nearby. Security 1: Hey, Calhoun looks like were in for a long day today. Have a good one, Calhoun. Security 2: Hold on a minute. The doors not responding to your pass I.D. Let me see if I can get it open on this side. Okay, I think I got it. Sorry, Calhoun, weve been having problems all over the facility this morning. System crashes, security malfunctions its a wonder this whole place hasnt shut down yet. Calhoun, you know you cant go on duty without your sidearm and uniform. Have a good one.
Barney passes into the main lobby after getting geared up for duty. Security 3: Nice of you to show up this morning, Calhoun yeah, yeah, problems with the access system. Hope youre ready for a long shift uh, oh, now what? Looks like some people are having problems with the main access lift in Sector G. Why dont you head on over there and check it out? Scientist 4: I cant access my files, I cant answer my mail, I havent even been able to get in my office. Security 3: I know, sir, I know. Were doing everything we can to get the problem under control. Just give us some time toScientist 4: Time? I dont have any more time. If Im not able to get my report to the administrator in the next hour then my job will be in serious jeopardy, and Ill make sure mine is not the only one. Security 4: Hows it going? Here you go, Calhoun. I know youre not on the schedule for a couple of days, but if you want to squeeze off a couple of shots in the range, theres plenty of room. Barney walks past some scientists at computers. Scientist 5: You thinking what Im thinking? Scientist 6: Uh, huh, yesScientist 7: This should help. Scientist 5: That doesnt sound right. Scientist 6: Let me help you. Scientist 7: Okay, I hope you know what youre doing. Scientist 6: Of course! TheoreticallyScientist 7: Do you smell something burning? Scientist 5: I cant really tell. Scientist 7: Right, lets try this. Scientist 6: Ah! Scientist 5: Whoa, that was close.

Scientist 7: Well, do you have any idea what to do next? Scientist 6: I couldnt venture a guess. Scientist 5: Dont ask me. Barney walks over toward a tram station. Scientist 8: If youre waiting for the tram for Sector G, then youre probably better off walking it. I overheard someone say that all the trams in this end of the facility are having problems. Scientist 9: We dont pay you people to mosey around at your own convenience. Get this thing to work so we can get on with this miserable day. Scientist 10: Oh, no, its probably those anomalous materials people again. Always pushing their equipment too hard, dabbling in who knows what Id be surprised if theres one good brain among them. Barney keeps going and eventually finds a scientist in a vent. Scientist 1: Calhoun, how did you get through the power lock? Well, it doesnt matter. The only other way out of here is through the canal. If you do make it to the surface, dont tell anyone Im down here. I think theyre trying to kill us all. Now, get out of here. The canal is where you want to be. Please, leave me alone. I dont want them to hear us. The only way to escape is through the canal. Barney enters the canal, where he sees soldiers dumping a body. Soldier 1: Man, these civvies are getting heavy. Soldier 2: Yeah. Why are we on disposal duty, anyway? Just because Shephards team didnt make it, we got to do the crap jobs? Soldier 1: Well, lets get on with it. Soldier 2: We got that bastard. Whats the status on Freeman? Barney kills the soldiers and finds a dying man named Harold up ahead. Dr. Harold: Id appreciate your help, but those bastards did their damage already. If youre trying to reach the freight yards in hope of escaping, just forget about it. The military is rounding up everyone and everything they can find and either killing them or bringing them up here for questioning. A colleague and I came up with our own plan for escape, and we were on our way to one of the old prototype labs when we ran into them. But, listen to
me, if you still want to get out of here alive. Your only hope may be to find my friend. If you can get past the soldiers, find Dr. Rosenberg. With him, you may have a chance to get out of this place. Scientist 2: Help! Someone let us out of here! No, Im afraid Im not Dr. Rosenberg. But youll still help me, wont you? Dr. Rosenberg: Help! Im in here! Can anyone hear me? Yes, Im Doctor Rosenberg, though Im not proud to admit it, seeing as how Im partially responsible for all of this. How did you know my name? Oh, I see. Poor Harold, yes, our plan was to get to one of the prototype labs. It involves something very few people in the facility are authorized to know about - the same technology that brought about this catastrophe could also be our only way out. You see, I was involved in the very early work on teleport technology, long before the lambda complex was even built. There may be enough equipment in the old lab to piece together a new device that would allow us to teleport outside of the facility, as improbable as that may sound to someone like you. Of course, none of that does us a whole lot of good while were stuck in here. Perhaps I could help boost you up through that vent in the ceiling. If youre lucky, you might be able to take those soldiers by surprise. Lets try this! Alright, now, well need to head back to the area where you met Harold. The access to the old lab will still be there, but well need to break through some of the newer construction to get to it. Rosenberg gives Barney a lift, and the pair heads toward lambda complex. Along the way, Rosenberg gets tired. Dr. Rosenberg: Wait up, Calhoun! Im afraid I need to rest. Hold on, Calhoun, I need to take a break. Lets stick together. Were almost there. The pair arrives at the complex. Dr. Rosenberg: Yes, here it is. Well need to break through this to get to the elevator. We shouldve chosen the lambda reactor for an escape, but the group over there is bent on fighting the creatures. All their hopes are on someone named Freeman. Let those fools try to fight a battle they cant win - I just want to get out of here. Well, I hope the old security system is still active. With any luck, my fingerprint I.D. is still valid and on file. Barney and Rosenberg enter the complex, where another scientist named Walter greets them. Dr. Walter: Doctor Rosenberg, thank god you made it! Weve managed to piece together some of the larger equipment, but youll need to oversee the rest of the construction. Dr. Rosenberg: Excellent, Walter! Finish aligning the power cell matrix, and Ill see if I can get the system online in the main room. Now, theres no time to waste! Well, looks as if the equipment is in better shape than I expected. Unfortunately, this older technology does not have the ability to target an earth destination in its current state. You see, Mr. Calhoun, teleportation isnt as easy as traveling from point A to point B. We discovered a strange border world somehow involved in the process that kept us from accurately reading where

any given teleportation event would lead to back on earth. Some of the more promising research on the matter led to a device that could be attached to the strange crystalline structures we found on the border world. The device will be used as a focal point and a relay to aid in the teleportation - well, in theory, that is. We lost contact with the survey group shortly after it was in place. We later discovered their success, but all the equipment in this lab uses older technology. In order for any of us to get out of here alive, someone will have to go to the border world and activate the device. Im afraid youre the only one who can do this, seeing as how everyone else is needed to operate the equipment. We should be able to get you fairly close to where the survey team had set up, but, I fear the likelihood of running into alien creatures is very high. Once you find the device, simply power it on and align the emitters so the signal reaches maximum strength. Well reopen the teleport for your return once we receive the signal. You must hurry back, as we can only keep it open for a short amount of time. Alright, Im going to initiate the teleportation charging sequence now. Get ready, Mr. Calhoun. Once the field is open it will become unstable very quickly. Simmons, can you hear me? Its ready. Were almost there - primary capacitors have reached full charge. Simmons, release the damping ports and open the field! The field, its open! Calhoun, enter the teleport! Go now, Calhoun, you must hurry. We cant keep the portal open forever! Barney teleports onto the border world, activates the device, and is teleported back. Dr. Rosenberg: Good job, Mr. Calhoun. We began to worry when you didnt come back for some time, but it looks as though you were able to get the device operational. The signal were getting is very strong, but Im afraid I have some bad news. The power reserves were just enough to open the field for your trip to the border world. If you plan on keeping the portal open long enough to calculate a safe exit point, and keep it open long enough for everyone to go through, someone will have to go down to the lower area and retrieve another power cell. A few of our colleagues went down there a while ago, but we havent heard from them since. We can only fear for the worst. I hate to keep putting you in this position, but you must realize that if someone doesnt go down there, none of us will get out of here alive. Besides, youre the best equipped to deal with any dangers that may be waiting. Here, Ill show you to the access elevator that leads down to the power generator. Follow me. Ah, here we are - down below are all the old power generators that were use to service this lab. You should find what you're looking for down there. Once youve located a power cell, make sure its charged and then send it up the freight lift. Good luck! Barney heads down into the basement. Along the way, he finds a security guard and a scientist. Scientist 2: Whoa! Security 5: Its okay, sir, I can take him. Scientist 2: Those things, theyre everywhere! Weve got to get out of here! Security 5: Pull yourself together! If we dont get the power cell charged, were all going to

die. Scientist: Look out! Guard: Get out of here! I can'tAn alien creature appears and kills the pair. Up ahead, Barney finds another security guard. Security 6: I was hoping youd show up. You have to get this power cell charged and back up to Dr. Rosenberg. Id help, but Im hurt pretty bad. You can push the power cell through the fence into the charging station behind me. Let me see if I can get out of the wayThe guard collapses. Barney charges the power cell and returns to Dr. Rosenberg. Dr. Rosenberg: Calhoun, you did it! Weve already begun preparing the device, using the fresh power cell you sent up. This time, however, the process is going to be a bit more complex. So, Ill need you to help me in the main room. Lets hurry! Theres no time to waste. Alright, Ill stay down here to monitor the system levels and direct the procedure. I need you to climb up into the control room and activate the main power. Once the process has started, youll also need to release the damping locks each time the system has charged so to open the displacement field. Dont worry, Mr. Calhoun, the process is simple, and Ill let you know when you need to do something. What are you waiting for, Calhoun? Get up to the control room and activate the main power switch. Barney walks to the control room and activates the main power. Dr. Rosenberg: Very good! Stand by, Mr. Calhoun. Once the system has initialized, itll take a few moments for the internal extrapolation coils to achieve focus. Everything is lookingSuddenly, an explosion occurs. Dr. Rosenberg: Oh, no, the primary coolant line has been ruptured! Calhoun, go to the valve located on the catwalk and release the pressure! Hurry, before the system overheats. Barney reaches the catwalk and starts turning a valve. Dr. Rosenberg: Good! Now, keep turning the crank until the pressure lowers. Phew, that was close. The system has stabilized, and the capacitors are charging. When the main charge meter is full, Ill need you to open the displacement field across from the control room. Were almost there. Ok, the system is fully charged! Open the field, Calhoun! Barney opens the displacement field. Dr. Rosenberg: There, the field is open. Go now, Walter! Walter enters the teleport.
Dr. Rosenberg: Very good, Calhoun, Ill begin charging the system for the next jump. Almost there! Alright, its charged again. Open the field, Calhoun! You must go now, Simmons! Simmons walks through the teleport. Dr. Rosenberg: Im going to go through next, but dont worry, Mr. Calhoun. Ive set the system to automatically start the charging sequence once Ive made it through. Just wait for the levels to reach full again, then open the field just like youve been doing. Alright, its ready. Good luck Mr. Calhoun! Ill see you on the other side! Rosenberg passes through the teleport, and then Barney follows soon afterward. Dr. Rosenberg: There he is! Calhoun, youve arrived! When you didnt come right away we thought that theRosenberg sees Barney begin to flicker, as if the teleport was only partially successful. Dr. Rosenberg: Oh, no, theres something wrong here. Simmons, come look at Calhoun! His body seems to be in some sort of unstableBarney suddenly appears behind two soldiers. Soldier 3: Where we taking this Freeman guy? Soldier 4: Topside, for questioning. Soldier 3: What the hell for? We got him. Lets kill him now. Soldier 4: Uh, and if they find the body? Soldier 3: Ha, body? What body? Barney successfully comes into focus near Rosenberg. Dr. Rosenberg: Oh, thank god, you made it! I was worried that a malfunction had occurred at the last moment and you mightve been caught in some infinite harmonic reflux. If thats the case, youre lucky to be standing here! Then again, were all lucky. Thanks to you, however, we were actually able to pull off this half-brained idea. We made it, Mr. Calhoun! We made it! SUBJECT: Calhoun STATUS: Out of Range The game ends and the credits roll.
