I.G.I.-2: Covert Strike is a computer game developed by Innerloop Studios and released by Codemasters in 2003. The game is a stealth-based first person shooter. It is the sequel to Innerloop's Project I.G.I.: I'm Going In. The original, published by Eidos Interactive, offered only single-player play with no save game feature; it was polished and well-executed. Covert Strike added multiplayer play and limited save game capability. The game's many bugs led to poor sales, which contributed to Innerloop's demise.The protagonist, David Llewellyn Jones, a covert operative for the Institute for Geotactical Intelligence (IGI), is sent on a mission to recover stolen computer chip technology. The trail leads the player to a Chinese general, who intends to employ an EMP device to knock out US satellites, and consequently the GPS system, rendering US intelligence services blind. Since the idea of the Covert Strike is the game's dominant motif, it often requires the player to carry minimal ammo supply with just one primary weapon and one secondary weapon. The concept of disallowing a player to carry an armory of weapons makes the game very difficult at times as applying a strategy is made indirectly proportional to the allowed bullet count instead. At times it becomes literally impossible to deploy a covert strike against enemy targets and the player might get killed with no place to hide.
