'Rogue Trooper' Goes Mobile
Taking the fight to mobile phones via Player One
Player One has announced the release of its latest mobile game - Rogue Trooper, in partnership with Rockpool Games and Rebellion. Following the successful release of the game earlier this month on console and PC platforms, the mobile version is set to keep gamers happy with stunning graphics and superb playability.Rogue Trooper is one of the most highly regarded British comic book characters and first appeared in the 2000AD comic in 1981. The character has gone from strength to strength with the release of the games across all platforms this year.The Rogue Trooper game follows the story of a genetically engineered squad of genetic infantry (GI), designed to fight in the poisoned battlefields of the future having been betrayed by their superiors. Only one soldier survives, carrying the minds and expertise of his murdered squad mates electronically embedded in his rifle, helmet and backpack. Together they are a one-man army, with the simple mission of revenge.The mobile game is a top down shooter and like the console version; Rogue Trooper's allies include Gunner, Helm and Bagman. With seven extensive levels there are plenty of problem solving tasks and puzzles to conquer. Players will have to find tripwires, minefields, teleports and unlock computer terminals in order to open doors and bridges using an array of available weapons bringing them a step closer to the final showdown with the evasive traitor general.Rogue Trooper will be available to download from all major UK mobile operators or by simply texting Rogue Trooper to 87070* from the end of June.Pete Russell, Managing Director, Player One commented: "Rogue Trooper has been around since 1981 and is one of the premier Sci-Fi comic characters. Rogue Trooper: Quartz Zone Massacre Assaults the Nintendo Wii

It appears that even if Nintendo seems uninterested in getting any in house developed shooters on the Nintendo Wii gaming consoles, there are developers interested in drawing fans of the genre from the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.

Shooting up the Wii Reef

Reef Entertainment, which is also responsible for launching Free Running, says that it is getting ready to launch a game called Rogue Trooper: Quartz Zone Massacre on the Wii. The official release date is February 27 and the game is set to arrive all over Europe with distribution duties being handled by Ubisoft, Digital Brothers and Atari. The main character of the game is the Rogue Trooper mentioned in the title, who is a super soldier created via gene manipulation. The character has appeared in the United Kingdom-published comic book 2000 AD and now he is coming to videogames for a lesson in how third person shooters should be handled on the Nintendo Wii. Peter Rezon, who is the managing director of Reef, stated that "The tactical use of stealth as well as the all-out action fit perfectly with the Nintendo Wii interface, providing exciting and immersive gameplay. Rogue has a cult following from when he first appeared in 2000 AD and we have returned to the original storyline for the Wii version of the game to remind people how Rogue came about, but it is the strong characters and storyline which will have great appeal for gamers of all types." It seems that the Nintendo Wii is becoming more appealing for those playing shooters. The Conduit, another shooter for the same platform, played from a first person perspective, is also set to arrive on the Nintendo console in a short while with some of the best graphics ever seen on it. It remains to be seen whether those who are playing Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii can also enjoy a Wii shooter.
