TRPC brings polocrosse to Illinois!
NCPR hosted a regional Polocrosse Clinic on Feb. 20th at Silver Spur Ranch in Maple Grove, Il. Members of TRPC were the clinicians. Kallie, Paige, Chiara, Robin Sumner and Cindy Hainline all made the trip. The morning focused on unmounted exercises, learning the rules of the game, fouls/ penalties, ball skills, etc. There were 14 participants. Early afternoon, the 8 kids that signed up for the mounted portion, got their horses out for some desensitizing to the balls and rackets. Participants were: Rosey N., and Alexandra R. from SJPC, Madi C., Josey G., Suzanne H., Jake W., and Ally S., from WDHPC, Rabia O. from KPC, Cheyanne M., Nora S., Kylee S., Hannah S., Emily M., Caitlin N. from H & HPC. Zola Gudger, the DC of WDHPC did a great job at organizing the day. The facility was amazing! We had a huge indoor for the mounted and unmounted exercises. We were also able to use the lounge for game explanations, pictures, videos, questions and answers time. The parents put on a potluck lunch for everyone, the food was delish! Two families loaned their horses out for some mounted demonstrations and to umpire a couple scrimmages at the end of the day. We thank those families for sharing their ponies. We also had to borrow rackets and balls from several families, so everyone had their own equipment, no one had to share. That made everyones clinic time much more valuable. Our plan is to do a second clinic as a follow up in the spring, and be able to be outside. The third clinic will be on June 28th, the Monday of Mega Rally. After the clinic that afternoon, the Rally will officially start with an umpire meeting/briefings and tack room set up. Our intent is to have several teams eager to participate in the Polocrosse Rally on June 28-29th. If anyone is interested in purchasing their own equipment, you can check out this website www.xtremepolocrosse.com. We saw a lot of kids having a great time that day! We hope to see everyone again at the next clinic. Many of my pictures turned out too dark or blurry, my apologies. We hope everyone had fun, learned a bit and are looking forward to the spring clinic. Thanks again to all of you that helped make this clinic a success! Youre generosity is greatly appreciated! Cindy Hainline

Have fun with GAMES!

Building your club, widening the experience, giving the backyard ponies a chance and just plain having fun can all be achieved with games! Teach a child and pony how to bend and teach them how to turn on the forehand! Take a nervous pony/rider team and have them learn games skills so the rider forgets to be nervous in the effort to get the ball off the cone or the bottle off the barrel! We have found so many benefits in games, we want to share it with all of our fellow PC-ers! It only takes a couple of kids and their motivated parents and you have a games program! No added expense, just a lot of fun! Although a paid clinician will really benefit, parents with energy or upper level PC-ers wanting to do something different can get your games program off the ground! Where to start? Look in the back of the Games Rulebook for hints and tips and teaching ideas! That is all you need to get started. Put a team together, practice the suggested drills and sign up for rally! Clinic the day before for helpful hints and suggestions and be ready to have fun the next day! If you have one member in your club who wants to play games, we will do everything that we can to find a team to play in! Unlike other sports, the team will get to practice at the clinic and really be a team on the day! Horses can play games too, it is not just for little ponies! Riders need to be able to get on and off, but it is amazing what athletic pony clubbers can achieve in the heat of the race! When you are at Mega Rally and you hear the music pumping, come and watch the kids having too much fun in the name of competition at NCPR Games Rally 2010! Remember! Age is the division divider, not skill, so yes, a 16 year old D2, can be an Advanced Player!

St James has fun with D-Study!
Aided by Alex R., the D members from St. James PC had fun with their DStudy groups this winter! Monica says Last Sunday I took some pictures of our D-Study Group. They were being taught by Alex Richardson who sadly is not pictured. The group was learning grooming, leading and barn management. Pictured are many of our new members and our loyal members from the past several years. The horse is Olie he has been a pony clubber for 6 years and stood patiently loving all of the attention.

Iowa Quiz!

Every year the Iowa Pony Clubs (Raccoon Valley from the Midwest Region, Silver Bits, Timber Ridge & Prairie Jumpers) get together to have a Mock Quiz a few weeks prior to the Regional Quiz Rally. A great practice, learning experience and a whole lot of fun! Congratulations to the Silver Bits Senior team who qualified to represent the region at Championships this year!
PoloX Clinic.coming soon! Hello Everyone: Hope all is well. Just wanted to let you know that we will be pulling together a Polocrosse Clinic in the Chicagoland area sometime in the month of May. If there is any interest from your club members, please let me know. The clinic will be outside. We are trying to prepare for Mega Rally and polocrosse being apart of the rally. If you have members interested in Polocrosse Rally, do not worry about teams. Cindy Hainline, from Timber Ridge PC, will help organize the teams. Let me know as soon as possible.
