Burnout 3: Takedown is a video game developed by Criterion Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It was released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony but also for the original Xbox. The title is classified as a racing and driving game which can be played from a first and a third person perspective.As far as racing simulators are concerned, Burnout 3: Takedown, the third game in a series which still gets updates, more than seven years since release, is more on the arcade side. It bears some striking similarities to Test Drive and to Need for Speed. There is traffic in the game and the physics are coherent, even if a little forgiving towards the player.The release offers a single player campaign as well as multiplayer modes. The third title in the series is more focused on aggressive driving and encourages the player to go out and drive on the wrong lane and slide his way around corners. Pick up trucks have been added in various intersections to provide an even bigger incentive fro crashes as they provide a big explosion and big monetary rewards.As the game progresses, the player can unlock 40 cars and 70 other vehicles, with highlights being European exotics, American muscle cars, mid-size sedans, sports cars, compacts, buses and semi trucks. The player can also get parts and custom paints together to create his own custom vehicle.The game retains the Burn Meter from the first title in the series, basically a gauge that fills up as you perform stunts and as you race into the incoming traffic. If the meter gets filled, the car you are driving gets speed boost.UNLOCKABLESNeed For Speed Underground traffic Successfully complete all Crash Mode levels with a "Gold" rank. Then, hold L2 + R2 while choosing a car at the vehicle selection screen. The civilian cars in traffic will be replaced by those found in Need For Speed Underground. Note: Some vehicles, for example the bus, will not be changed. However, there are Need For Speed Underground taxis. Muscle Types 1, 2, and 3 Win a Gold Medal in the Silver Lake Compact Grand Prix. Compact Types 1, 2, and 3 Available from the start of the compact race series. Coupe Types 1, 2, and 3 Win a Gold Medal in the Waterfront Muscle Grand Prix. If the meter gets filled, the car you are driving gets speed boost.GAMEPLAY HINTSEasy takedownAs soon as any race begins, immediately get behind the nearest opponent and hold Boost. You will start getting "Tailgating" points and will receive a short boost. Use this boost to quickly slam your opponent. This will result in a takedown about 90% of the time and will immediately fill your entire boost bar.When in race or takedown events, get behind your rival's car, then boost. This should take them out. If not, slam into them on the back corners of the car. This should take them out against a wall.Go to road rage in single player mode. Pick USA Silverlake southbound as the track. Choose Assassin Super as your car. Throttle it to the other drivers. Start pounding them and keep Boost held. Do not bother to slow down for the corners, just slide around them. Your rivals will do the same. Keep pushing up the back of them, and after a moment they will go flying and you will get a takedown. You can get more than 30 takedowns by doing this. To easily take a car down, go behind it. Then boost behind it and shunt it. It will immediately be taken out.Here's a video:
