Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is a tactical role-playing video game developed by Nippon Ichi Software and published by Nippon Ichi Software in Japan, Atlus USA, Inc. in North America and Koei in Europe for the Sony PlayStation 2 video game console. It was first released in Japan on January 30, 2003 and was later released in North America on August 27, 2003 and in Europe on May 28, 2004.Nippon Ichi has also licensed or produced a wide variety of Disgaea merchandise, including a manga. In 2006, Nippon Ichi released a sequel called Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories for the PlayStation 2, as well as a 12 episode long anime titled Makai Senki Disgaea. Nippon Ichi also released a Playstation Portable version of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness dubbed Disgaea Portable, which was released on November 30, 2006 in Japan. A North American version has been announced for October 16, 2007 with the title Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness.SecretsFaster Weapon MasteringTo level your weapons faster, go to the level Terrible Cold in the area Jotunheim (it should be the one with invincibility on all the panels except for one). Make sure you have a character with a high amount of counters (the ninja class or the majin class), a strong person who could kill 100 persons and the person you want to master the weapon. First, start by throwing all the enemies into each other. Then when they are all combined, have someone pick the enemy that you just made and hold them. Next, have the ninja or the majin and the person you want to level up come out and have them beat each other up. If you did it right, your team members should be beating each other up with regular and counter attacks. Just do this for as long as you want. Each hit raises their weapon mastery. To speed up the process you could go to the item world and get the armsmaster specialists and attach them to a weapon, so your character levels faster. When you are done leveling, kill the enemy that you were holding. Free Team AttacksIf a character is about to attack an enemy, you can move other characters around the attacker and you will perform a Team Attack as you normally would. Execute the attack then move the cursor over the supporting attackers and press circle. The character will move back where it was. You will be able to move the character normally as well as perform a normal attack (or a skill).This is an easy way to squeeze more damage out of attacks without having to waste turns.Move far without sacrificing other statsIf you unequip your attack/defense/other items and then equip movement items (shoes, hyperdrive, etc.), you can move very far and before you attack you can re-equip your other items and it will not move you back. Now you can attack with your re-equipped items. Just repeat this on your next turn.Now you can move really far without sacrificing defense or attack damage. This is also useful if you have only a few movement items (especially hyperdrive); since you are un-equipping it every time you use it, your other characters can use it too.New Game+When you beat the game, stay after the credits and you will be asked to save. Save and reload, then you will be able to start the game with your old stats, items and characters (except storyline characters)Pass any bill at the Dark AssemblyWhen you try to pass a difficult bill at the Dark Assembly, the only option normally available to you is to kill all of the opposing senators simply because it's nearly impossible to get a difficult bill passed legally. But who wants to constantly get into fights in which they're massively outnumbered by high-level enemies? Here's a nice trick to bypass the entire process. Before choosing to begin the vote, bribe a high level senator in the front row. Make absolutely sure he's on your side, then begin the vote. After the vote fails, choose to persuade by force and take a bunch of characters with long Throw distances into the battle. Rather than having to fight off a ton of senators, you can simply throw them onto your mole in the front row! So long as the level of the senator you're throwing is less than the senator

doing the catching you'll be fine and after throwing a couple of senators at the mole, the combined levels will be so high that you won't need to worry about levels at all. Repeat this process until all of the opposing senators are gone and you avoid having to fight any of them. This is an excellent cheap way to unlock a lot of bills well before you should be able to do so.Here's some gameplay footage from this great title:

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is a videogame developed and published by Nippon Ichi Software Inc. The game was only created for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony and released in January 2003. It is classed as a role playing strategy title, incorporating strategy elements, and is played from an isometric perspective. The game is based on a medieval fantasy setting and is turn based.

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is part of a series of highly successful Japanese role playing games. The plot is based around the story of Prince Laharl. He wakes up after a two-year sleep and he is surprised to see that his father, the famed King Krichevskoy, is now dead and that there is a civil war ravaging the nation of Netherworld with a variety of usurpers to the throne trying to make their claim through force. Of course, Laharl is not going to just stand by, so he joins forces with his subordinate Etna and his minions in order to join the fight and emerge victorious. As Disgaea: Hour of Darkness progresses, players will unlock a wide variety of new strategies, weapons and technologies which will aid them in battle. A very important part of the game is built around managing the equipment and the tactics used by your forces. The system is very similar to that used in other RPG and RTS mixes launched around that moment, like Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battle. GAMEPLAY HINTS Get the most out of your turn If you are trying to level all of your characters mainly by using team attacks, etc., move all your characters into position for a team attack. As long as none of them, besides the initial attacker, have performed any actions, after the team attack, you can move them back to their original locations and move them again. Repeat this as desired. This also works if your characters are just out of a healer's range; you can move them, heal them, then move them back into battle. Etna's diary There are two hidden switches in the castle. One is behind the throne, and another is near the skull on the counter of the Rosenqueen shops. Flip both of them to allow access to Etna's diary, which is in the middle corner of the intermediate hallway between the throne room and the shops. If you visit this area consistently for each chapter, you will be rewarded with a Testament item in the final chapter. Here's a video:
