"PS2 Disc Read Error: Whats The Probable Cause And How to Fix it" By Jason Lewis Dont you just love your PS2? I mean if it were up to me, i would nominate it for a nobel prize. But thats just me talking. Yes, it has provided me with great entertainment value. It helps me to relax, vent out and chill the time away. But sometimes it really frustrates me! Especially if its showing that "Disc Read Error". Argghh. Have you experienced this? You go to you local video game shop, get the most recent and popular Playstation 2 game. Your really phsyced up on spending time and beating the game. But when you load it to your PS2. The dreaded PS2 Disc Read Error shows up! Waaa.. its really that frustrating to me. So I tried to do some research and learn how to fix my PS2 quickly, so I can get back to my game.
Two most common cause of PS2 "disc read error" 1) Lens Obstruction this is probably the most common cause for disc read error to appear. Situations that there are dust in the lens, hardened dust that cant be easily blown and mal alignment of the lens. Such situations can cause the dreaded error to surface. To fix the problem, you can start by blowing the lens. But if that doesnt work then you have to open it and clean it from the inside. BUT! theres a big but! dont try to do this without a manual. Its fairly easy to do but without any guide, you'll risk of doing more damage. Plus theres one thing that you should wear in your wrist before opening ang touching the internals of your PS2, otherwise you might short circuit it and theres goes you Playstation 2. Now, dont worry. I compiled a short guide, with an easy step by step solution on how to open and clean your PS2, also It includes the thing that you should wear in your wrist to avoid short circuit. You can get more information about this compiled guide at the bottom of this article where theres a link in the author's bio / signature box. 2) Voltage problems If cleaning the lens still doesnt work. Then theres a problem with your PS2's voltage. This is usually set in default to fit the average home. But due to some current surges in power
lines, this can cause disruption thereby causing the PS2 voltage requirement to alter. Fixing this is simple. Inside of your PS2 theres a swithch like or more like a clock that regulate the voltage. I also included this on my short guide on how to exactly do this, its easy to follow and you'll get your PS2 disc read error gone in no time. So that 's the 2 most common cause for PS2 disc read error to appear. Fixing it is fairly easy if you have the right guide. That's why I highly suggest that you grab my guide so you can be on your game in the next 2 hours. This article is written by Jason Lewis. What Does That Error Message Really Mean? By Jim Edwards What Does That Error Message Really Mean? by Jim Edwards Surf the 'Net for about 10 minutes and chances rate very high that you'll encounter an error of one kind or another. Whether the error message pops up on your own computer or on a website loaded in your browser, knowing what the error means can help you solve the problem much faster and avoid hours of frustration (especially in a situation where nothing you do will solve the problem). The following represent some of the more common error messages you may encounter while surfing the Internet and what (if anything) you can do to correct the situation. Error: 404 File Not Found This means the web server cannot find the file or web page you tried to pull up in your web browser. Almost nothing you can do will correct this situation.
Try hitting your web browser's "Refresh" button to see if the page will load. If not, email the website operator to let them know of the problem and then move on. Error: 500 Internal Error This error usually occurs when you fill in a form on a web page (contact form, shopping cart, feedback form) and click the submit button. This means the server or the script handling the form on the server has a major problem. Again, there's nothing you can do so just email the website owner and move on. By the way, resubmitting the form a dozen times, banging your hand on the keyboard, and yelling at your monitor won't fix the problem! Error: 408 Request Timeout This error usually occurs when you try to download a huge
file or large web page and, for whatever reason, the connection times out. Simply hit your browser's "Refresh" button and it should pick up the download again where you left off. If not, contact the website owner and inform them of the problem or check back later. Error: Host Unavailable Grab a cup of coffee on this one and fall back to reading the newspaper. You can try hitting your "Refresh" button a couple of times, but, for all intents and purposes, this means the server has gone down. Try again in a few minutes on the offchance you tried to access the website just as the owners were restarting the server or temporarily disconnected it from the Web. If this doesn't work, the phone rates your best course of
action to contact the website owner since it's a safe bet their email won't work either. Error: Unable to Locate Host This message usually means one of three things: the web server is down; your Internet connection is dead; you typed in the web address incorrectly. To correct the problem, first try retyping the web address into your browser's address bar. If that doesn't work, try surfing over to another website to make sure your connection is live. If you can't load any websites, contact your Internet service provider (ISP) for technical assistance. As a general rule, if you encounter an error while surfing the web, try these steps in order to fix the problem: 1. Click your Web browser's "Refresh" button. 2. Verify that you typed in the correct URL (web address) 3. Close down and restart your Web browser completely.
4. Contact the website owner to alert them to the problem or request help. 5. Contact your ISP for help. 2009 Now
Full-time work as Gameplay Programmer at Supermassive Games Ltd At Supermassive, I worked on Tumble, a launch title for the PS3 Move controller. My role on that project included writing high level gameplay code, frontend/HUD code and a Trophy system. Ive also done some prototyping for an idea for a future game, using Havok vehicle functionality.
The last year Ive mostly worked on (Havok) animation and physics related programming tasks, prototyping for an upcoming title for the studio. That work has included using 3 points of input (Head tracking via the PSEye and one Move controller in each hand) to control an in-game character with IK and ragdoll. Head tracking input is used to determine crouching/ leaning and the Move controllers are mapped to each hand, feeding back through the arms and upper body using IK.
2005 2009
Full-time work as Game Programmer at Avalanche Studios PROGRAMMING ROLES I started working with general game programming and soon became responsible for the GUI code on Just Cause (the first title released by the studio). During the finishing stages of Just Cause, I was also responsible for TCR (Technical Certification Requirements) compliance on the Xbox 360. We passed the Xbox 360 TCR submission on our first attempt. Throughout the project I also worked on general game programming tasks. When production started on Just Cause 2, I implemented the major part of a new Spawning system. Later I wrote a new Save/Load system together with a colleague. Ive written a number of game objects used by level designers in our editor. Other work areas include the Aim system, Xbox 360 TCRs, Games for Windows TRs and GUI code support. During the 2 projects at Avalanche Studios, I have worked with the following platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, Windows XP & Vista, Xbox and PS2. RESPONSIBILITIES I started as junior game programmer in 2005, but soon became responsible for certain parts of the code. As I grew in seniority, the responsibilities expanded and I was the main person responsible for the areas mentioned above. For Just Cause 2, we adopted the Scrum methodology used in agile software development. In the last year, Ive worked as ScrumMaster for different teams of 3-8 programmers, when there has been a need for it. The ScrumMaster plans the work of the team into Sprints (1-4 week periods of implementation), and monitors the progress of each Sprint by holding daily morning meetings with the team. When each Sprint is completed, the ScrumMaster presents the results to the rest of the company in a demonstration. The role of ScrumMaster was very interesting and rewarding, and I enjoy both the programming and the administrative parts of that role.

LEISURE INTERESTS When I occasionally have spare time, I enjoy spending it with friends and family, preferably in the Stockholm archipelago. One of my favourite pass-times is implementing new ideas in code (such as a multiplayer action game, physics-puzzle games, adventure games), most often in one of my own hobby engines. That way Im constantly improving my skills and expanding my toolset. I also like to struggle with oil painting and black lead drawing, and for relaxation I usually listen to music or play with my cat.

Just Cause has Rodriguez attempting to overthrow a fictitious South American island's regime by instigating a revolution. Players will accomplish this by working with citizens, political factions, rebels, and even drug cartels in a series of explosive operations. In the tradition of games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Just Cause features a free form world with an estimated 250,000 acres of territory to traverse by plane, car, boat, or in some cases, parachute. Since the island of San Esperito is filled with cities, towns, resorts, jungles, and mountains, players can acquire more than 100 vehicles throughout their tumultuous stay. The main storyline includes over 20 missions with objectives that can be accomplished by any number of means. Hundreds of side and bonus missions are also available for fun or profit, with stunt challenges like parasailing, vehicle leaping, or skydiving part of the itinerary for tropical thrill-seekers. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
