Games PSP Tomb Raider - LegendLara Croft: Tomb Raider -- Legend [PlayStation Portable Game]

Developed by Buzz Monkey Software, LLC - Eidos Interactive (2006) - Action Adventure - Rated Teen

Indeed a legend in her own time, Lara Croft leaps onto PSP in 2006 with a new look, a new game, and a new developer. Revamped physics and an enhanced control scheme allow for more free-flowing action, while graphical improvements present a redesigned Lara who is immediately expressive, more believably proportioned, and as strikingly attractive as ever.

I thought this game was brilliant, and I honestly have nothing bad to say about it! Well done! The games graphics are excellent. This is an excellent game, probably more suited to the platinum price point than the full price range.

Remember in the classic tale of Joan of Arc where the English and French fought, and they utilized swordsman, archers and knights? How about magic.

Tomb Raider: 8

Tomb Raider News :: Tomb Raider: Legend II (8)
-Tomb Raider fans all over the world have been waiting for something about Legend II, but sadly nothing was too heard, except till now. Thanks to an exclusive interview with Ian Livingstone, Eidos company executive, on Eurogamer. TV, we were able to gather some information of what the game might be. Livingstone explained: "I've seen some of the ingame models and it's just like watching television; if you felt you were in love with Lara Croft previously, you ain't seen nothing yet. You'll be drooling when you see the new Lara as she appears in the next iteration". -Now if that hasnt satisfied you, then wait till you hear this: Now youve probably all heard of the E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo), where software companies and such display their upcoming releases. Well lucky for us, Eidos will be there, with TOMB RAIDER LEGEND II!!! Yes, the list from E3, which holds which games will be on showcase include TR8! Though it is not official, it most likely will be as the date for E3 is set for 11th -13th July 2008, in California USA. The list was released by GameRadar.com who in general are a reliable source. Nevertheless, all TR releases from Crystal Dynamics were normally released around that date, so it probably must be true. -Some TR fans have already began thinking up their ideas of the name of Legend II, although it was confirmed to be Legend II, some fans have come up with a new name: Tomb Raider: Mists of Avalon. Natla = Amanda ???

Tomb Raider 8 News :: Jacqueline Natla = Amanda Evert ???
If youve played Tomb Raider: Legend and Anniversary, then youve probably seen Laras main enemies: Jacqueline Natla from Anniversary and eventually Amanda Evert from Legend. Well here are their pictures and tell me what you think. Now if you notice, they do have a striking resemblance! Now in addition to that, in the last level of Legend, Bolivia Redux, Lara encounters some crates, but did you ever notice what name was stamped on it??? Yes, its Natla!!! Now, Im guessing youre thinking what Im thinking, right? Yes, what Im thinking is that in Legend II, CD may give a twist that could result in Natla being connected to Amanda! Although it is not for certain, and merely a speculation, it is most probable to happen Send in your views to: rugrln786@gmail.com

Platform Roundup

TR: Anniversary News :: Platform Round UP
This is something that should have been done previously, but wasnt! Nevertheless, it doesnt stop us from doing it this time. Below we have listed all the platforms on which Anniversary will be available and information about each.

Personal Computer

The PC version of Anniversary was one of the first versions to be released, and was released in Europe on 1st June and round 8th June in the US. The PC version however this time did not feature any NextGen content, although with the improved game engine, the graphics were pretty much satisfying, and yet demanded less computer resources therefore making it more stable, fast and reliable than Legend. The only downside to the PC version is probably is the fact that most gamers prefer playing games on a controller rather than a keyboard.

Sony PlayStation 2

The PS2 version is just as good as the PC version except with a slightly slower performance than what the computer is able to deliver. This is expected, as todays computers are more well equipped than the PS2. Although, in some cases you find man y sharp edges of objects in which the PC was able to better handle this and clean it up better. /The game may also be played Widescreen, with progressive scan support but it was found to have inconsistent effect. Game play is pretty much the same, and easier in terms of having a controller though Interactive Cut Scenes are believed to be harder, but still not too hard! Although, it is still a recommendable version for Anniversary.

Nintendo Wii

If youre looking towards the Wii version, then youve got a whole new game in stock for you! Everything has been changed and revamped to make an amazing experience on the Wii. In addition to the basic tools featured on the PC and PS2 version of this game, are a lot more tools with help of the motion control sensor that make it all the more fun to play!

Continued on next page.

Page 5
Nintendo Wii (continued from previous page) Lara now is equipped with a torchlight, brush, pencils and a kind of a pick axe, which can all be used by moving the Wiis motion sensitive controller. In addition to that, she gets to solve puzzles, by turning dials and such, finding secrets with torch lights, breaking walls using the pick axe, and by using charcoal pencils and paper to make traces of various carvings. In addition to that, all acrobatics and movements can be performed using the motion sensitive controller, thus making it all the more fun!!! Now performance wise this game isnt as good as the PC. There are plenty sharp edges, but it is still a very good and just as enjoyable as other versions! You shant be disappointed with this game and a worthy buy. Sony PlayStation Portable The PSP version of Anniversary was or is being developed by Buzz Monkey software. This edition, though, to our disappointment from the images is the worst from them all! Why? Firstly, the controls are not exactly the best, and secondly the graphics are just plain bad! For these reasons, I would not recommend buying it but lets take a look at the actual gameplay. Well, it is pretty much good. Resembles the PC version in a lot of ways but still no distinct features nor any exclusives thanks to same special features available in the console, so its pretty much of a degraded version of the PC, made to fit the good old PSP! Then again we could argue, that that is what the PSP can offer, but Ive played PSP games and there graphics werent that bad!

Page 6

And now to see which one is really worth the buy!
Well, youve seen the ratings, and you might have noticed that we had a tie between the PC and Wii. Lets though first see why those two were rated 9/10.
The PC was awarded 9/10 because of its excellent graphics and sound and its wide support for HD resolutions that allow it become an excellent game for HDTVs. The PS2 version though, lost out because of its graphics which werent able to be rendered as well as the PCs. As for the PSP. The Wii version in the other hand was something completely different. A new breed of TR games with amazing creativity used with the special and unique features of the Wii allowed CD to deliver a truly amazing and breathtaking experience both for newcomers and old fans of the series.
To sum things up, were more favored towards the PC as all gamers do own a PC and TR:A works on all machines regardless of its specs as it adjust to one another. And the Wii, definitely a YES for Wii owners, and if you really find the game amazing, then why not get the Wii just for TR:A!

TR: Anniversary Probs
Tech Probs Solved and Analyzed
TR: Anniversary Probs :: Tech Probs!!!
Have you got a problem with TR: Anniversary? Need some help? Send it in to:

rugrln786@gmail.com

Now, Anniversary may be one heck of a game, and it is quite popular, and could turn out to be the biggest success of the Tomb Raider Series, as anniversary was quoted to be one of those rare remakes, where the remake is better than the original, but no matter how good it is, they all have problems which kill us! They drive us crazy till theyre corrected and some are never ever corrected!
Transparent waterBug present only in nVidia LE Cards (7300LE, etc) This bug is really the most annoying! It makes your water completely transparent! The worst part is, if you have to swim across somewhere, you wont notice the water and youll think you cant get over! This bug is actually sary. The reason it happens is probably due to the fact that the cards that has this problem was degraded to hold an affordable price, but it not really a bug of An- seems degraded a bit niversary but never- too much ,eh? theless something Till today, there is no that affects Anniver- official fix. Page 8
Transparent waterBug present only in nVidia LE Cards (7300LE, etc)
Although, one was found at TombRaiderForums.com, it requires an edit of the registry and slows down performance dramatically. For this reason, we found that we shouldnt show how to do so, as it may harm your game or computer! So if you really want the fix, search for it at TombRaiderForums.com, but be warned , youre doing it at your own risk.

Error installing the Game
This bug happens whilst installing the game on some computers. It seems to just freeze at around 98%! The main fix is to go to the Task Manage and end the process named: SET58.tmp. Another fix is to run the setup file manually from Windows Explorer. And if these still dont work, copy all the contents of the DVD to your hard drive (except the DirectX Folder) and then run the setup file. Youll notice it will install faster as the transfer rate of data is faster as the files do not need to be copied onto but simply moved to rather than in the DVD where it is copied from to the hard drive. Although, youll use up quite sometime copying the DVD to your hard drive.

Tomb Raider Stories
Tomb Raider Stories :: Katies Stories
In 2000, the Tomb Raider based story The Evil House was released! From that story, the story evolved into a series which stands tall and proud till today, but how did it all begin! Read on, as we get inside information from Katie herself about how this award winning fiction evolved.
In the summer of 2000, Katie Fleming released her own story based on Laras adventures. Ever since, it has become a growing series of stories with a fan base of all ages from under 10 to over 60 which has been growing everyday. Today, her stories carry the proud Award of Core Designs Fan Fiction Competition. An award winning fan fiction, and hugely popular series, Katies stories are surely a must for reading. It all began when Katie was on a 20 hour long drive with her family, and she somehow wanted to take Lara with her. So she came up with the idea of writing a story! She wrote her first story entitled The Evil House which turned out to be a great success. A former PR Manager at Core Design, took notice of this aspiring talent and was very interested in her stories. According to Katie herself, he has read everyone one of them. But when Katie began writing her first story, she had no plans for future stories, but when it caught the attention of the Tomb Raider team, she was encouraged to continue, and which she did.

Page 12

I can say that I never had anyone discourage me from writing, it was always the other way around!
She eventually won the award for the best fan fiction in the Fan Fiction Competition of Core Design with "Sweat, Strength, and Determination". Now, being an award winner, her stories dragged in
more and more fame. At a later date, she was invited as an author in the first of Tales of Lara Croft, in which her story, Search for Delphi, was published in. Later on in December 2006, she was interviewed by Turner Broadcasting for a documentary based around Tomb Raider which was released with Anniversary. And now little from Katie herself: I can say that I never had anyone discourage me from writing, it was always the other way around! It didn't take too long to get my stories out there and my fan base has really grown. I have fans who are younger than 10 reading them to people in their 60's! That's one big thing I love about Tomb Raider: there's such a huge fan base so it really covers all ages.

Page 13

take too long to get my stories out It didn'tand my fan base has really grown. there
You too can get yourself Katies stories from her website: http:// tombraiders.net/katie/MyTombRaiderStories.html and get into the action! Heres a brief synopsis about her latest release, Perilous Paradise!
For thousands of years, myths and legends have captivated the minds of explorers and the curious, but to this day, no one has ever discovered the truth about the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Lara is convinced they exist. After travelling to Iraq, the present-day location of the ancient city, Lara must scrutinize every inch of the desert landscape if she hopes to prove the Gardens' existence. What seems an innocent search turns into a wild chase for the truth. Will Lara's adventure lead to a perfect utopian world, or will the Gardens' beauty be a fictitious shield of a perilous paradise?

Moddings for Anniversary :: NextGen
Last week we featured the NextGen project by Angel_14 in our magazine but unfortunately we hadnt any download links or complete pictures of the actual project. Lucky for you this week, weve got a full review and the download links, so keep reading!
The Tomb Raider Anniversary NextGen project by Angel_14 is a must download Moddings for the Anniversary game! Why? Simply because it makes your game ever more vivid and enjoyable and seem almost like the NextGen of previous Tomb Raider games. From the pictures above you should be able to see how much more it has revamped the game. Notice the statue in the third picture. That was originally beige, but thanks to this mod, it holds a beautiful mixed colour of the original and Gold! The Mod is also available for all the levels of the game including Lara herself. To let you see the difference, below is a comparison:

Without the NextGen Mod

With the NextGen Mod

Now you maybe thinking these photos were edited, or exaggerated but theyre not. You can and try it for yourself and see the difference. The original game really does look very saturated and washed out. Convinced? If yes, below are the download links:

Tomb Raider: Bermuda Triangle Fan Ideas
This time we are proud to announce the Tomb Raider: Bermuda Triangle Section of the tomb Raider: Fan Magazine exclusively focused on Bermuda Triangle and all the ideas from fellow Tomb Raider Fans. Each day we get ideas on forums about the Bermuda Triangle with more and more views. In this section, well have all those great ideas as well as any ideas you would like which can be sent in to rugrln786@gmail.com. Lets start off the with the latest buzz about this blossoming idea. Below is a discussion between Nicola1986 and Rowanlim:
Yeah that would be cool, gotta have ships and planes to check out I suppose since if the BT was like a portal to somewhere else, there could be islands to explore and investigate with weird creatures and pygmy things on them. Maybe there is a main enemy like a 'god' who controls all the weird guys and maybe the reason for the BT is so when the strongest sailors or pilots etc. come through he takes them and uses them as his 'soldiers' in a way, to work for him and he might want Lara as well because she's really strong and smart. Or something like that lol

Or something like that lol cool i like ur idea.the main enemy god can be like an end-level boss, yea, so like hav a huge bearded sailor ghost as BT's equivalent to TRA's torso. slobering water all over.hahahah
i can alredy imagine how the relics n artifacts would look like.little mermaid pearl statues.hehehhe Quote:
Yeah a huge creature, like a massive davy jones from pirates of the caribbean what a cool game we have made lol we could have an unlockable pirate suit for lara a massive davy jones!!!!!!! perfect end-level boss!!! omg.soo cool. mayb she could spent a SHORT time of the game being led by an old pirate who in the ends betrays her n ends up with a bullet in his soggy heart i like the idea of a pirate suit for lara man.so cool.wow i can almost imagine how it wil look like.with a scarf round her neck, leather jacket of sorts, the pants she wore in TRL England.sooo COOL im goin to love TR:BT coz ive a feelin that out of 5/6 levels, 3-4 wil be water-based.n i so love that!!! hav u thought of a script or a storyline for TR:BT?

Page 27

The Bermuda Triangle is a great idea but it HAS to have its own game. It would be a total waste to reduce it to a subplot. There is so much potential for a storyline as dark and mysterious as what AOD was originally intended to be without straying from what Tomb Raider is all about. Not only that but there's so many possibilities in the different kinds of levels we could see. There are so many ideas of what the Bermuda Triangle is that combining them all could really bring the franchise on top. Imagine underwater levels similar to Tomb Raider 2 or Devil May Cry with the giant open blue caves and a half submerged wrecked ship? After escaping the cave Lara would resurface in the ocean surrounded by the infamous walls of water with Silent Hill like fog and the wreckage of pirate ships, submarines, WW2 planes, cruise ships and other lost vehicles? You could see faint lights like the ones in the 2nd Black Isle level of Chronicles floating in the distance? You cannot reach them - they just keep moving and fading. One level could have Lara trying to escape a ship as some monster outside tries to destroy it. CD have introduced physics into Tomb Raider so imagine the potential for a level like that especially if the game had Assassin's Creeds level of interactivity. What about an island similar to Lost or Uncharted? Just a big tropical island with jungles, caves and mountains. Only unlike Lost and Uncharted, there are NO sunny locations. Just fog and darkness a bit like the Black Isle in Chronicles. Hidden on the island are various man-made environments like pirate hidouts and various metalic security compounds like the ones in Lost and Jurrassic Park that were build around the 60s. Maybe even a small village in a quarry similar to the one at the start of Resident Evil 4 with possessed villagers? The island would be massive like something you'd expect out of a GTA game, so none of these places would be next door to each other. As you get deeper in the island, the game becomes similar to Tomb Raider 3's South Pacific levels with rop bridges overlookling cliffs, ancient temples and giant carved pillars. After exploring most of the island you could come to a giant black pyramid where a God-King could lie. It could be mixing the different South American cultures together. The inside would be dark but at the same time bright and vibrant like the Temple of Xian in TR2. The island would pretty much be going back to the jungle like levels in Tomb Raider like India, but mixing the different stages of mankind together from thousands of years ago to the past century. Theories have connected aliens to the Bermuda Triangle. How about a level set inside a crashed spaceship sort of like the X-Files movie? It would be buried deep underground so the level beforehand could be trying to make your way further and further underground sort of like the R.X. Tech Mines level in TR3. Another thing that could be done is Lara encountering other survivors in the triangle. Some are important characters to the plot she will meet throughout different points of the game, others could be like the monks or soldiers in TR2-4 that help Lara but can also be killed at any point. Some could be minor characters who help Lara one minute, but are really part of some conspiracy or have their own secret agenda and later become her enemy. But Lara will always be the playable character. There is great potential for enemies as well. Not all of them need to be harmful. One of the great things in Silent Hill is some of the enemies are just there to have a psychological effect on the player. Entities like the demon babies in Chronicles, someone standing in the distance who isn't really there or floating lights in the distance that are just there to add some atmosphere. Whispers that can be heard around you, but no one can be seen. Not exactly like the ambience in past games, but whispers that randomly play for about 20-40 seconds. You could also have undead men who were lost in the triangle years ago who have also lost their humanity. Some could have parts of their skin disolved revealing their flesh and bones while others could have partly mutated like the nurses in Silent Hill, others could be almost transparent or glowing like a ghost but there still living and breathing. Anything to show they weren't the people they once were. You could have giant sea monsters, different kinds of aliens, culties, zombie pilots flying bi-planes that Lara has to blow up with her rocket launcher, pirates, skeletons and creatures similar to the original cat mummies/mutants in TR1 who you hear moaning round the corner then let out that inhuman screech when they attack. If CD devoted an entire game to the Bermuda Triangle, they could include all these things plus more. Combining every single story, myth and theory together to create a dark mysterious plot similar to what the AOD trilogy could have been. It might sound a bit like a survival horror but it moves TR away from the kid friendly plots we had in Legend and would have more substance than "find the artifact of the week" plot the classics had. If they brought Atlantis into it, then the storyline could connect the older games to it like TR3 and AOD. By MikeAC

The above suggestions provided by MikeAC got a lot of people thinking, and if you continue onto the next page, youll see the replies. T omb Raider: Fan Magazine

i like the way u visualiz the potential of a TR:BT game by CD.these r a few things i thought of after i read ur post: 1. BT is like an untapped source of IMAGINATION. ther r so many mysteries about the BT, even though ther r theories to support the supposed mysteries, it stil has an "unsolved" aura about it.meaning CD could come out with ANYTHING bout BT n hit it big. 2. the storyline has to be RELEVANT to who lara is n what tomb raider is: EXPLORING. i didnt quite leap with joy with ur idea bout UFOs coz i dono if the idea of lara sneakin around some alien spacecraft is appealing.i would like her to be searchin for some relic, ancient scrolls.wher her GOAL in the game is RELEVANT to tombraiding 3. location location location: underwater theme is great, seing that BT is in the ocean anyway, i would like lara to explore tombs, old castles, coz these r the locations wher lara GROOVES if u get wat i mean. my previous idea was for lara to find a gateway to another realm where all the dead sailors etc land up from the BT, n there, the other-worldly land could be ANYTHING to explore, MORE TOMBS! TOWERS! CASTLES! FORTRESSES! 4. as for gameplay, enemies can be anything. the sound effects would be cool. ive never played TR1,2,3, but my gues is the most essential is if the sounds n the graphics would giv the feeling that the player (lara) is all alone in wherever n the only way to move on is to EXPLORE (which IS the tomb raider experience). having the creepy sounds, the enemy sounds, etc would heighten the experience. 5. as for side characters, i don mind the idea of having minor characters helping lara out in the beginning then turnin into a betrayin , n vice versa, i would prefer however to KEEP lara as THE playable character, n hav BONUS levels of OTHER minor characters as an unlockable reward at the end of the game (something like in TR2 i think). 6. since the potential for BT is SO huge, i cant realy think of much to say except i hope CD wil take note of this n consider expanding this idea, coz like u said, it would take TR games to the NEXT level, where ther's no limit to the imagination, u get to explore unknown environments to ur heart's content, u play LARA (thats like the ult), n u hav FUN. im thinkin of a plot rite now, mid sem break comin up hehe In reply to MikeAC Good ideas guys, I think it would be an amazing game, love the sound effects ideas, definitely gotta add some spooky sounds and fog and a SH feel to some of the levels. I'm a big fan of the lost planes, ships ideas, like an underwater Maria Doria level too I like the idea of islands, because you've gone to another world or something it doesn't have to be exactly like real life, the un-dead guys are an idea I've like for a while, this game has HUGE potential. Me and my boyfriend were just throwing ideas around and came up with a story, it's not complete yet. I thought Lara could have a map or something from unknown source of the BT with a picture of an ancient artifact (not sure what yet) that apparently lies somewhere in the BT and because Lara is Lara, she sets off after it, there could be a character involved here to lure her to the BT or something like that and then betray her? Anyway the plot up to yet is that in the BT there is this main boss buy, could be a god of some kind who has his own realm in the BT and whenever he feels someone strong and powerful come though the triangle eg. sailors etc, he brings them to his dimension and slowly drives them insane and they end up killing each other or themselves so he can use them as his un-dead soldiers. I thought here I could add a part that once Lara gets to the BT in search of more information on this artifact, this god sees her power and strength and really wants to have her as one of his most powerful soldiers and won't let her leave the BT again, maybe she could even have hallucinations of ghosts and scary things as he very slowly tries to drive her insane. His power could be in the artifact, he could have a magical sword or staff or something that opens the portal and Lara would need to get this from him in a end level battle or something There could be loads of ideas on enemies etc because if he was a god he'd be REALLY old and the enemies could be little pygmy things because they could have been here centuries ago or something like that lol. Could be insane animals or something too. It's just an idea, we don't have to use it, as we keep saying there are LOADS of possibilities My bf came up with a great idea for an unlockable, when ever you jump into the water she could turn in to a mermaid with unlimited breath I even drawn a piccy See next page for continuation.

In response to the ideas being posted, a new name was though of by Bowie: Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Swallowed Souls. Below continues the ideas from Rowanlim and Nicola1986:

I wonder what kind of artifact we should have, I thought a sword but that's kinda like the dagger of Xian so I'm not sure, what would a god have? hmmm. hahah thank u i like Mr.Hinx too hehehe 1. bout the title, since the god dude is like technicaly stealin ppl's spirits/souls, mayb we could entitle the game LARA CROFT & THE SOUL RIPPER. sounds so kooky! yea i agree that a direct title TR:BT is quite EXPOSING heheheh 2. i think the idea of the god consumin the souls of ppl to escape is more posible hehehe.like he has the power to take the souls, either to consume for power or to be made into soldiers at his bidding; mayb a short cutscene to show how he was trapped in the 1st place.mayb from a confrontation with mr.hinx where he explains his fascination to obtain the power of the god, or to obtain the relic. from his account, lara wil learn something mr.hinx didnt realiz bout how to defeat the god. im actualy writin a story now bout this, im so inspired! 3. about the relic, i would like a kind of simple globe, grasped by a silver shaft or something; i thought of a small globe, coz in a roundabout way, the contents of the power in the globe would be MORE concentrated (physics, density is mass/volume hahaha ), so it could be realy simple, but pure and unlimited in power. and only power scents power, so lara can tap into it to end all the misery in the other world n to return bak to her world. 4. the other world need not be dead completely, there could be some banished sorcerers etc who could be a side characters n giv some insight on the world behind the veil of BT. like to chip into the story n giv some clues bout who is the god, who is mr.hinx, etc ideas ideas ideas!!! run 'em here!!! Yeah I don't think everyone should be dead, maybe there are people he kept to torture for his own pleasure or something or maybe for some reason he is incapable of sapping their power away and they might tell this to Lara so she can use it at her advantage when she confronts him. I like the idea of a globe-type thing, maybe it's encased in something or on the end of golden staff etc. some decoration to show it once belonged to a god or someone similar. Maybe he stole it from other stronger gods and was banished with it to the BT world, saying something about because he's so obsessed with power, power will be the one thing he'll need to get out of his prison. I'm wondering if we should name the world through the BT, like an ancient name or something to stop confusion? Hmmm I'll be thinking of names. Any ideas would be great

The best I've heard is Swallowed Souls, can't really think of a better one than that, now trying to think of a name for our BT dimension and our god. Can just imagine now Lara swimming through the water not sure where she is, hardly able to see with the grey fog (not all the time though) odd screams and ambient sounds, even the odd dark shape flying past, sort of like you saw it but did you really see it? Could be a hallucination I bet there even could be some beautiful ruins to search around in proper TR style PS guys, what do we think about the addition of Kurtis to BT? I kinda wish we had some recognition of him after AOD but we don't have to. If he was in it, he wouldn't have to be with Lara the whole time, just bits and cutscenes like in AOD and then they can split up etc. I think it would be cool to unlock a mini-game where players can be him in the BT and you get to see what he did when they split up or something like that. I'm gonna think of Lara kinda like she was in AOD, her darkness still there 'cos she was cool like that
More of these ideas will be available shortly for download in a separate PDF file along with this magazine. Unfortunately, thats all we can offer in this edition.
