" Gigabyte GA-8IEXP Surpizing for us was not the level of equipment (it is so high, that almost redefines the term), not even the low price that this mainboard has, but the performance. Without any complexes, the i845E chipset installed on this board gave a bitter lesson to every other competitor in this test, especially to the models with i850E, considered a superior chipset (including GA-8IHXP, reviewed earlier). The equipment of this mainboard is similar with the board before (GA-8IHXP), but here we have also three FireWire connectors. We can say that this board definitely earns our CHIP Tip. "

"Conclusions: Looks like Gigabyte 8IEXP enjoys all modern technologies Gigabyte has in the sleeve today. At the same time the board is priced the modest 160$, which gives a fairly good price-to-quality ratio given the rich feature set. Other users, who may not need all these additional functions, should probably look at a lighter version - 8IEX board, which does not have FireWire support and on-board RAID.

The Gigabyte duo are a remarkable pair - One for the enthusiasts and one for the value market, yet both give just about the same level of performance. If you are interested in the budget style or for the extra features, you have no worries about choosing Gigabytes boards. On the 8IEXP side, the overclocking would have been a bit better if you could raise the CPU core voltage up to 1.85v instead of limiting it at 1.725v. This is really the only problem we had with this board. Every peripheral needed for todays computing, including FireWire was included. Performance and stability were beyond what we had expected from Gigabyte.
