II. Company history March 1986 Gigabyte Industrial Co., Ltd. was established with paid in capital amounted to NT$700,000, engaging in the manufacturing and sales of motherboards. September 1986 Capital increased to NT$5 million and relocated to XinYi Road in Taipei. August 1987 Established the research and development department and international sales department for proper control of research and development of products and expansion of the global marketing network. Relocated to Ren Ai Road Section IV. November 1987 Successfully developed the new 2MB EMS cards, and moved towards the development of high value added products. March 1989 Successfully developed the new 8MB EMS cards and was recognized by the market. May 1989 Entered into agreement with AMI of the USA on 386 BIOS, which made a better matching between hardware and software and hence contributed to the increase in market share later. June 1989 The company was renamed Gigabyte Technology Corporation. September 1989 Purchased the plant site at No.3, Alley 6, Lane 45, BaoQiao Road, 4th floor, XinDian, and relocated to this address. June 1991 Raised capital by issuing new shares amounting to NT$15 million, which made the paid in capital amounted to NT$20 million. March 1992 Purchased the plant sites at No. 9, Alley 6, Lane 45, 4th and 5th floor, BaoXing Road, XinDian for accommodating new production capacity. July 1993 Joint venture with Intel for the development of Pentium motherboards. Its capacity in research and development was recognized by the industry. March 1994 Entered into agreement with Award software INC of the USA for the right to use BIOS. October 1994 The Pentium motherboard manufactured by the company was recommended by PC Magazine in the USA as the Editors Choice demonstrating that the reliability of the product has won the recognition of the world media. July 1995 Raised capital by issuing new shares amounted to NT$76 million, which made the paid in capital amounted to NT$96 million. March 1996 Accredited as an ISO-9002 system company by RWTUV of Germany as the guarantee of the best quality. July 1996 Public offering of the company stocks was approved. September 1996 Acquired three subsidiaries in Germany, the USA and Japan respectively of which the subsidiaries in Germany and the USA were wholly-owned and the holding of shares of the Japanese subsidiaries was 99%. October 1996 Raised capital by issued new shares amounted to NT$150 million and capitalization of retained earnings at NT$60 million. The resulting paid in capital amounted to NT$306 million.
December 1996 The plant at XinDian relocated to PingZheng in Taoyuan County and started running. The site there has an area of 2,900 ping and installed the latest automated equipment. July 1997 Raised capital by issuing new shares amounted to NT$40 million, capitalization of capital surplus at NT$30.6 million, retained earnings at NT$183.6 million and employee bonus at NT$18 million. The resulting paid in capital amounted to NT$578.2 million. November 1997 Conferred the 6th Fine Product of Taiwan Award by CETRA. April 1998 The shipment volume of Pentium II accounted for more than 50% of the total shipment volume in Q1 of the year. April 1998 Raised capital by capitalization of retained earnings amounted to NT$462.56 million, capital surplus at NT$57.82 million, employee bonus at NT$40 million. The resulting paid in capital amounted to NT$1,138.58 million. August 1998 Approved by the Board of Investment of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in investing in Mainland China for establishing a new plant. September 1998 Successfully listed the stocks of the company on the TSE at the price of NT$172.5 per share. November 1998 Conferred the Fine Product of Taiwan Award for a second time, which is a historic record under the rule that this award will not be conferred to the same company with the same product. January 1999 Raised capital by issuing new shares amounted to NT$100 million, with paid in capital amounted to NT$1,238.58 million. January 1999 Invention of the patented technology of Dual BIOS, which was a revolutionary change in motherboard. April 1999 Successfully completed the investment of US$17 million for the establishment of a new plant in Dongguan in Mainland China. The plant engaged in mass production in June the same year. June 1999 Business Week of the USA reported that the company was ranked in 41st place of the top 100 information technologies industry. July 1999 Raised capital by issuing new shares amounted to NT$25 million, capitalization of retained earnings at NT$867.06 million, employee bonus at NT$71 million. The resulting paid in capital amounted to NT$2,201.586 million. September 1999 The GA-BX2000 and GA-660 of Gigabyte were ranked the champion by PC Magazine of Holland. April 2000 The corporate headquarters located at No. 6 BaoQiang Road, XinDian was completed, and was opened for business immediately thereafter. June 2000 Raised capital by capitalization of retained earnings at NT$770.5551 million, employee bonus at NT$89.0529 million, and capital surplus at NT$220.1586 million. The resulting paid in capital amounted to NT$3,281.3526 million. July 2000 Gigabyte raised capital by issuing new shares for the subsequent issuance of GDR (in 30,000,000 common shares) and listed on July 17 at Luxembourg Exchange for trading. The resulting paid in capital amounted to NT$3,581.3526 million.

September 2000 The completion of the construction of PingZheng 2nd Plant and Nan Ping Plant for Gigabyte Technology. October 2000 Gigabyte engaged in a strategic alliance with Linux supplier COVENTIVE ADVANCE, and jointly announced the Appliance Server & IU RackmountServer under the Linux platform. These two products were exclusively designed for small and medium corporate users and general users, and is the most powerful and highly efficient complete network solution. March 2001 Successfully issued the ECB amounted to US$115 million. June 2001 Conferred the 1st Outstanding Promotion of Fine Taiwan Product Award. July 2001 The GA-8TX of Gigabyte won the media award in Europe. July 2001 Raised capital by capitalization of retained earnings at NT$537.2980 million, employee bonus at NT$112.67167 million, capital surplus at NT$358.13526 million. The resulting capital amounted to NT$4,589,362,510.00. September 2001 Gigabyte won the Gold Mind Award at the National Inventions Exhibition 2001. September 2001 Gigabyte Technology and Legend Group of China established an equity joint venture in Hong Kong and jointly engaged in the manufacturing of CEM. By then, the scale of operation of the company was enlarged, the cost was held down and competitive strength enhanced. January 2002 Gigabyte was the only motherboard manufacturer conferred the Fine Product of Taiwan Award for the 5th consecutive year. March 2002 The bearers of GDR exercised the conversion rights for 291,886 common shares, which made the paid in capital amounted to NT$4,594,133,440. May 2002 Gigabyte was conferred the National Product Image Award. May 2002 Gigabyte held a conference on new products, announcing new products of P4, Maya Display cards, ZYGMA and IA products. June 2002 The products of Gigabyte won a number of awards in different countries, including: web media in New Zealand, Hungary, Russia, USA, Denmark, Singapore, UK, Germany and France. September 2002 Raised capital by capitalization of retained earnings at NT$689,120,020, employee bonus at NT$211,224,520, which made the paid in capital amounted to NT$5,494,477,980. January 2003 Gigabyte Technology formed a research and development team in wireless communications and moved into Tainan Science-Based Industrial Park. March 2003 Established the Russia Office at Moscow. June 2003 Gigabyte Technology held a joint conference on new products in 2003. Three product line groups announced their new products. June 2003 Established the Zhongjia Technology & Trading Co., Ltd this office was responsible for coordinating sales of all business locations in Mainland China. July 2003 Gigabyte at Ningbo raised capital amounted to NT$430 million for expanding facilities there.

September 2003 Raised capital by capitalization of retained earnings at NT$274,723,890, employee bonus at NT$151,571,800, and the conversion of GDR to 578,294 common shares, which made the paid in capital amounted to NT$5,926,556,610. October 2003 The plant at Ningbo was completed and opened for business. This plant manufactures motherboards, IA and system assembly. December 2003 Gigabyte has won the championship of superior products of the year for three consecutive years. January 2004 Made the record of 100% award on fine products of Taiwan for 7 consecutive years and unmatched by any other firm in the industry. March 2004 The Ningbo Plant of Gigabyte officially unveiled for operation on March 29th. May 2004 Transcend the Limit, Gigabyte held a conference on G-MAX series of new products. July 2004 The G-MAX NB-1401 of Gigabyte won the National Image Product Gold Award, the highest prestige in the industry. September 2004 Capitalization of retained earnings amounting to NT$289,772,330. Capitalization of employee bonus amounting to NT$159,874,380. Cancellation of treasury stocks amounting to NT$131,100,000. The paid in capital increased to NT$6,245,093,320. October 2004 Gigabyte was once again recognized by the industry and was conferred the 15th of National Quality Award. December 2004 Gigabyte held a conference on the award. January 2005 Gigabyte is the only enterprise that won 100% awards for 8 consecutive years. March 2005 Launched the worlds first 54Mbps, PCI interface wireless router known as AirCruiser G Desktop Router. March 2005 Presented for the first time at CeBIT2005 the streamline cell phone designed under Giga-Bytes own R&D efforts. June 2005 Won the honor of National Product Image Award in Session XIII, the consecutive honors in four years in a row, for notebooks and expandable wireless base transceiver stations (BTS). August 2005 Converted earnings amounting to NT$312,254,660, bonus to employees amounting to NTD161,511,000 into capital, to make the paid-in capital up to NTD6,718,858,980. December 2005 GIGABYTE initiated the TV-oriented Windows Mobile 5.0 PDA cellphones. December 2005 Launched the first 7 million pixels camera-cellphone GIGABYTE g-Cam. December 2005 Giga-Byte Technology Co., Ltd. took the lead to get officially accredited for IECQ QC 080000. January 2006 the leader of digital home motherboard---Gigabyte--- released the first motherboard exclusively designed for the Intel Viiv technology in the world. March 2006 the full product line of Gigabyte CeBIT 2006 has attracted much of the attention at the Hanover show. At the same time, Giga has celebrated its 20th anniversary and has diversified to different domains with positive results. March 2006 Gigabyte engaged in a joint venture with GIGA-BYTE COMMUNICATIONS

INC. and Synergy Technology (Asia) Limited, who together successfully launched the first built in Windows Mobile 5.0, a PDA featuring the function of TV and GIGABYTE g-Smart. The first 500 mega pixel CCD mobile phone, the GIGABYTE g-Cam, was also unveiled. April 2006 Gigabyte released its brand new duo core series of Notebook computers at the conference. June 2006 Gigabyte was highly acclaimed with its Best Choice of COMPUTEX GIGABYTE notebook computer, W251U, in hearty design with creativity and slim and light look. August 2006 Gigabyte was conferred the 14th Gold Award Products of Taiwan special award on Distinguished Performance Manufacturer --- with more than 100 Awards on Outstanding Products over the years, and has broken the record of winning 5 Silver Awards on Outstanding Products. August 2006 Gigabyte has been cited by the Ministry of Economic Affairs as Outstanding Brand of Taiwan for 2 consecutive years. October 2006 Gigabyte won the National Design Award- Product Design Gold Award with its G-Pad, a cooling device for notebook PCs. October 2006 Gigabyte won the Good Design Award in Japan with its g-Smart i and W251U. November 2006 Gigabyte successfully released its second issue ECB amounting to USD 100 million. December 2006 Gigabyte Education Foundation held the 5th G-DESIGN Contest, which was officially renamed as the G-DESIGN Wild Thoughts Contests. December 2006 Gigabyte officially established its subsidiary--- Gigabyte United Inc., and assigned its business of desktop PC motherboards and interface cards carrying the brand of Gigabyte and distributed through its channels to the subsidiary.
