INTERNET RADIO

Internet radio is used by over 10,000 broadcasters worldwide as an alternative technology for re-transmitting their channels. There are also countless broadcasters who can only be heard on the Web. This variety means that every musical taste can be catered for. Until now you needed a computer to listen to hip-hop from New York, country from Nashville or merenge direct from the Caribbean. Thanks to a WLAN connection and audio-streaming, Grundigs new Ovation 2i CDS 9000 WEB offers you unlimited enjoyment even without a computer. And thats only the beginning, as we will soon be adding a complete portfolio of Internet radio stations. The only condition is that you have a WLAN network at home so that a connection can be made to the Internet and the untold number of radio stations, even if the computer is not actually up and running. If you want to play music saved on your PC on the hi-fi, the Ovation 2i works like a UPnP client which accesses files in a directory made available for this purpose. The tracks are provided very simply using programs such as Nero Media Home, Windows Connect or the new Windows Media Player 11. These programs turn the PC into a UPnP server which recognises the clients in the network and allows them to access the songs. Once you have set up the connection with just a few clicks of the mouse, all you need to do is select the PC as your sound source, choose your favourite song and enjoy it the Ovations phenomenal sound concept gives you a sound which is far superior and more intense than through a PC loudspeaker.

MAGIC FIDELITY

Thanks to the Magic Fidelity sound system, the Grundig Ovation microsystems dont just look good but sound very good, too. Magic Fidelity means that even small loudspeakers produce an outstanding sound range. Grundig engineers have optimally tuned the amplifier electronics to each loudspeaker used. Combined with the special loudspeaker configuration, this creates a performance that fills the room with surprisingly dynamic and brilliant sound. Simply put, Magic Fidelity works in the following way: in this cleverly devised, active loudspeaker concept, each of the three custom-designed loudspeakers is allotted its own power amplifier. Three active frequency switches with the frequency response adapted to each speaker determine the optimum frequency range for the shared bass speaker, and for the left and right channels. All three speakers have separate housings and a preset, attenuated volume. The bass speaker is regulated with the common stereo signal right and left up to a set separation frequency. After that, the two medium/treble speakers for the left and right channels take over the acoustic and stereophonic broadcasting of the signals. Special speakers were developed and applied to achieve a full, rounded sound. The special design of the medium/treble speakers, made as they are from a combined titanium membrane and foam surround, provides a very good stereo sound basis, even at a relatively close distance.
