Basic Nerf Nite Finder Mods
By Zachary Saathoff This tutorial will show you how to remove the air restrictor, replace the springs, and improve the air seal in your nite nder. Tools you will need: thin athead screwdriver Phillips screwdriver hammer knife silicon grease Supplies you will need: electrical tape a #14 o-ring replacement spring (power spring and possibly a catch spring) and duct tape (as long as you do not mess anything up you will not need this) Step 1: air restrictor removal Open up your gun and pull out the barrel (g. 1). Use the screwdriver and hammer to break the rods that hold in the circular obstruction in the back of

the barrel. Be careful when trying to break the rods because you can break through the wall of the barrel. If you accidentally break through the wall of the barrel, tape over the hole. This piece should then fall out as well as a spring and another circular piece that has three prongs sticking out of it. Discard all of these pieces. Then break the rods that hold in the long prong that slides into the hole in the darts. This is easier to do from the front of the barrel. Congratulations. You have now removed the air restrictors. You should now be able to see straight through your barrel (g. 2).

Step 2: Spring Replacement Take your plunger (g. 3) and remove the head by removing the screw and then pull off the head. Then take your power spring (the big spring that powers the gun) and nd a replacement about the same size, but much stronger (g. 4). If you can not nd a replacement, you can stretch the spring, but this does not give you as much power as replacing it.
Depending on the strength of your replacement spring, you may need to replace the catch spring (g. 5) as well. If you need to replace your catch spring, use the same criteria that you did for the power spring. Put your plunger back together. Replacing the springs is the one mod that will increase your power the most.

Step 3: Air Seal Improvement Take your plunger head and remove the o-ring. Wipe all the stock lubricant off with a dry rag. Then wrap electrical tape around the inside of the groove where the o-ring rests (g. 6). You will need to experiment with the amount of electrical tape. The idea is to push the o-ring out, creating a better seal; but if you put too much electrical tape on, then there would be too much friction, and the plunger would not move fast enough to re the dart as far. Start
with one wrap and go from there. Then put your stock o-ring back onto the plunger along with the another #14 o-ring (g. 7). Doubling the o-rings improves the air seal and prevents the plunger head from rubbing on the barrel wall, which creates more friction. Now re-lubricate the o-rings with silicon grease. Do NOT use a lot of grease. It spreads very well and it is very easy to use too much. Using too much can ruin the o-rings and will collect grime.
