Pre-Scramble Volunteers
WE NEED YOU to help with the LCMCs third-annual SCRABBLE Scramble!
Our Scrabble Scramble fundraiser is fast approaching! March 27, 2011 Manor Country Club, Rockville The hard part of planning has been done we have our venue lined up, as well as generous corporate sponsors to cover our expenses.
What we need now are VOLUNTEERS to help with some preparatory tasks as well as handle some fun jobs at the event itself. Please check the list below and call Marty Stephens at 301-610-0030 or email marty@literacycouncilmcmd.org to volunteer! Unless otherwise noted, these jobs are appropriate for Student Service Learning Credit, so if you know a teen looking for SSL hours, please pass this notice along to him or her.
Game Checking/Repacking 2 volunteers to work approximately 2 hours checking our Scrabble sets and preparing them for game night. After the Scramble, well need 2 volunteers to help repack the games for storage. Availability: Feb 22 March 18; schedule flexible. Location: LCMC office, Rockville. Packet Collators 2 volunteers to work approximately 2 hours putting together our game-night packets for players. Availability: week of March 21; schedule flexible. Location: LCMC office, Rockville. Scramble Night Volunteers Game set-up/pack-up - 3 volunteers to set up the Scrabble boards in the event room, and to check and rebag the sets after the game. Availability: 5:00 9:30 p.m., March 27, 2011. Location: Manor Country Club, Rockville. Greeters 2 volunteers to welcome guests as they arrive, direct them to the check-in table, show them where to hang their coat, etc. Availability: 5:30 7:00 p.m., March 27, 2011. Location: Manor Country Club, Rockville. Check-in Table Staff 4 volunteers to staff our check-in table. Availability: 5:30 7:00 p.m. March 27, 2011. Location: Manor Country Club, Rockville. Raffle Ticket Sellers 4 volunteers to walk the Scrabble Scramble floor that evening selling raffle tickets to players and other guests. Availability: 5:30 9:00 p.m. March 27, 2011. Location: Manor Country Club, Rockville. Raffle Ticket Supervisor- 1 volunteer (adult only) to collect and secure the raffle ticket money collected by our Raffle Ticket Sellers. Raffle Table Attendant 1 volunteer (adult only) to supervise the raffle display table and sell raffle tickets. Availability: 5:30 9:00 p.m. March 27, 2011. Location: Manor Country Club, Rockville. Scrabble Score Checkers 4 - 5 volunteers (preferably experienced Scrabble players) to check the table scores at the end of the game session, to determine our winners. Availability: 5:30 9:00 p.m. March 27, 2011. Location: Manor Country Club, Rockville. Letter Sellers- 4 volunteers to walk the Scrabble Scramble floor that evening selling (for a donation to the LCMC!) extra letter tiles to players. Availability: 5:30 9:00 p.m. March 27, 2011. Location: Manor Country Club, Rockville Letter Seller Supervisor - 1 volunteer (adult only) to collect and secure the money donated for extra letter tiles. Word Look-Up 2 volunteers to look up questionable words in regular and/or Scrabble dictionaries (provided), at player request (for a donation to the LCMC!).
