Designed to disintegrate and wash away when hit with a stream of water, the targets add a new element of excitement to Hasbros already successful SUPER SOAKER brand. Dissolvo LLC supplies the water-soluble paper under the Dissolvo tradename and invented the SOAKERTAG body target concept in cooperation with Sticker Mill, another Impaxx company. According to Impaxx, patents are expected on both the targets and the game play idea. Since the original SUPER SOAKER product was launched in 1989, were always looking for innovative ways to enhance the consumers experience, explains Kevin Fortey, Marketing, Hasbro, Inc. The SOAKERTAG body targets add an exciting and challenging new element to water fights. In traditional water battles, everyone gets wet but no one wins. Now the SOAKERTAG concept lets you determine who won the water fight. Measuring 2 x 2 in size, players can either apply the SOAKERTAG body targets directly to their skin or they can be clipped onto a sleeve or waistband. Tags can also be set up as targets on any smooth surface. Dissolvo worked closely with Hasbro to develop the SOAKERTAG concept, construction and play.

Dissolvo looks, feel and tears like ordinary paper and can be manufactured on standard converting equipment, thus minimizing investment costs and production times. When the paper dissolves, the ink completely disappears as well, leaving no residue or markings on clothing. Dissolvo is versatile enough to offer brand owners endless opportunities to creatively market their product, says Neil Marshall, General Manager, Dissolvo LLC. We believe the SOAKERTAG body targets will provide Hasbro with a distinct competitive advantage. As of March 2004, all SUPER SOAKER Water Blasters will be sold with SOAKERTAG body targets; the exact number included in each package will vary by price point. Consumers can also purchase refill packs, with each pack containing 16 targets 8 blue and 8 red, allowing players to divide into teams. To help launch the product, Hasbro recently staged the SUPER SOAKER Survivor Challenge a three-day game of SOAKERTAG in Panama City, Florida. Each player was armed with a SUPER SOAKER water blaster and wore the new water-dissolvable SOAKERTAG body targets, with the object being to dissolve your opponents target before they dissolve yours. Multiple elimination rounds were played until there was only a single player left standing. Hasbro continued promotion for the new SOAKERTAG body targets with a road tour around the country through mid-June. Adding the SOAKERTAG body targets has allowed us to create a new play pattern for the SUPER SOAKER product line, summarizes Fortey. The relatively small size of the targets makes competitions challenging, and extends the time kids will use their SUPER SOAKER blasters.
