100 Hz (2 x 50Hz) betragen.

Dear Customer, congratulations on your purchase of this high-quality HELIX amplifier, made in Germany. This new Helix amplifiers highlights best quality, excellent manufacturing and state-of-the-art technology. They are the optimum completion of HELIX series by AUDIOTEC FISCHER. To find out how Helix amplifiers work best for you, read this manual carefully and follow the instructions for installation. We guarantee that this product has been checked for proper functioning before shipping. We wish you a lot of fun with your new HELIX amplifier. Your AUDIOTEC FISCHER Team General installation instructions for HELIX amplifiers Before you start installation, disconnect the car battery at the minus pole. We would urge you to have the installation work carried out by a specialist as verification of correct installation and connection of the unit is a prerequisite for warranty cover of the HELIX amplifier. Install your amplifier at a dry location where there is sufficient air circulation to ensure adequate cooling of the equipment. For safety reasons, the amplifier must be secured in a professional manner. This is performed by means of four fixing screws screwed into a mounting surface offering sufficient retention and stability. Before drilling the holes for the screws, carefully examine the area around the installation position and make sure that there are no electrical cables or components, hydraulic brake lines or any part of the petrol tank located behind the mounting surface - otherwise these could be damaged. You should be aware of the fact that such components may also be concealed in the doubleskin trim panels/mouldings. General instruction for connecting the amplifiers The HELIX amplifiers may only be installed in motor vehicles which have a 12-volt minus pole connected to the chassis ground. Any other system could cause damage to the amplifier and the electrical system of the vehicle. The plus cable from the battery for the complete system should be provided with a main fuse at a distance of max. 30 cm from the battery. The value of the fuse is calculated from the maximum total current input of the car audio system.

Install the cabling in a manner which precludes any danger of the leads being exposed to shear, crushing or rupture forces. If there are sharp edges in the vicinity (e.g. holes in the bodywork) all cables must be cushioned and protected to prevent fraying. Never lay the power supply cables adjacent to leads and lines connecting other vehicle equipment (fan motors, fire detection modules, gas lines etc.). In order to ensure safe installation, use only high-quality connections and materials. Ask your dealer for HELIX accessories. 1 Connecting the remote lead The remote lead is connected to the automatic antenna (aerial positive) output of the head unit (radio). This is only activated if the head unit is switched ON. Thus the amplifier is switched on and off with the head unit. 2 Connecting the ground cable The ground cable should be connected to a central ground reference point (this is located where the negative terminal of the battery is grounded at the metal body of the vehicle), or to a bright bare-metal location on the vehicle chassis, i.e. an area which has been cleaned of all paint residues. 3 Connecting the battery cable Connect the +12 V cable to the positive terminal of the battery. Recommended cross section: min. 10mm2. 4 Fuses The input fuses are connected in parallel and provide protection against an internal equipment fault, i.e. the system must be additionally protected by a further line fuse located in the vicinity of the battery (max. distance from battery: 30 cm). The fuse ratings are 2 x 25 amperes, and both must be installed as the amplifier protection rating is 100 amperes (2 x 25 A). 5 - 7 CPS (Color Protection System) The LEDs show the operation status of the amplifier. Blue (No. 5) = on Yellow (No. 6) = malfunction of amplifier. E.g., battery voltage lower than 8,5 V or over 16 or, speaker wires are shorted to the ground) Red (No. 7) = the amplifier has shut off due to overheating. In this case it will take some time (depending on outside temperature) until it switches on again.
8 - 9 Signal inputs The HXA 1000 QX has RCA connections for cinch cables leading from the pre-amplifier outputs, the line outputs of the head unit or the outputs of a pre-amplifier/equalizer, e.g. HXE 100. These connections are gold-plated in order to ensure better signal transmission. 10 Mono/stereo input signal selector For stereo operation (two cinch leads) the switch has to be in position B (stereo), both inputs (8 and 9) are occupied. For mono operation only input 8 is occupied and the switch is in position A (mono). 11 Add-on subsonic filter If reqiured an additional subsonic filter (26Hz/30dB/oct can be switched on. Position A: subsonic filter off Positiong B: subsonic filter on 12 Speaker connection terminals The impedance minimum of all connected speakers must not be lower than 2 ohms. Attention! When tuning bass reflex systems, this value will soon be fallen below. Please check with the maker of your subwoofer. When using bass reflex systems we suggest to have the subsonic filter (switch 11, position B) switched on. Important notice! Never connect the speaker cables to the vehicle ground (chassis). This can destroy your amplifier. 13 Level controls for input sensitivity These controls can be used to match the input sensitivity to the output voltage of the connected head unit. These controls are not volume controls and are solely intended for the purpose of sensitivity trimming. The control range extends from 600 mV to 8,0 V. 14 Damping factor control For individual sound tuning the damping factor can either be raised (more bass) or lowered (balanced and warm).
15 Operation mode selector switch Position A: The amplifier works linear, the integrated active frequency cross over and the parametric equalizer are switched off. Position B: The input signal is sent to parametric equalizer and can be adjusted with the controls 16 - 19. Position C: The input signal is sent to the parametric equalizer and to the active frequency crossover and can be adjusted with the controls 16 - 19, the switch 20 and the controls 21 and 22. Parametric equalizer With its integrated highly innovative parametric equalizer the HXA 1000 QX amplifier offers a wide range of individual subwoofer sound tuning. Switch 14 has to be in position B or C. 16 Phase control This conztrol enables the bass signal to be shifted by 180 in order to achieve optimum delay equalization with the other channels. (see fig. 1) 17 Setting the center frequencies Control 17 can be used to select a frequency of 50 - 150 Hz on the preset low-pass frequency band (see control 22). This center frequency can be raised using control 26, by between 0 and 9 dB. This is desirable if certain frequencies of the subwoofer are to be enhanced (kick bass) or corrected. (see fig. 2) 18 Band width adjustment Control 18 can be used to enhance the Q of the frequency set at control 17. The resultant band width can be infinitely varied from 10 to 110 Hz. (see fig. 3) 19 Level control for raising the cut-off frequencies This control enables the center frequency set at control 17 to be raised from between 0 and 9 dB. (see fig. 4) Important notice! Incorrect adjustment of the parametric equalizer can have a considerable deleterious effect on sound quality. In such cases, consult your HELIX dealer. If this is not immediately possible, turn controls 16 to 19 completely counter-clockwise or turn switch 15 to position A so that the amplifier operates in the linear mode.
Adjustable frequency crossover The HXA 1000 QX has an integrated, adjustable active crossover. For operation position C must be chosen for switch 15. 20 Switch for high pass, low pass or band pass Position A: band pass Psition B: low pass Position C: high pass 21 Active high pass filter With this control the frequency range of the amplifier is infinitely variable from 50 to 250 Hz as high pass. Chose position C for switch 20 or position A in the band pass range. 22 Active low pass filter With this control the frequency range of the amplifier is infinitely variable from 50 to 250 Hz as low pass. Chose position C for switch 20 or position A in the band pass range. 21 and 22 Active band pass filter The frequency crossover is in band passs operation when switch 20 is in position A. Control 21 is used for high pass setting and control 22 for low pass setting. Attention: Overlapping frequency settings will result in a very low signal level that cannot be sufficiently amplified. For this reason the low pass frequency must at least double the high pass frequency. For example: If high pass is set on 50 Hz, low pass must at least be set on 100 Hz (2 x 500 Hz).
